  1. Can you give me some of your spare cash? You obviously have more than you need. "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."
  2. That'll teach ya to follow Scotty down. "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."
  3. LOL. Guess I'm both. Yeah I'm a big Tool fan. And you're right, that sig is from "The Grudge". I like it because I see so many people clinging to their anger as if it were real, when in fact it only exists in your mind, and just makes matters worse. "Wear the grudge like a crown. Sorry to hear about the shoulder dude. antimike says that most skydiving injuries tend to happen after the beer light comes on. This is becoming more & more true every weekend. Get well soon! "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."
  5. Ummmm, well gee Justin, the only way you would have gotten that message was if you were subscribed to the S&M list. So I guess you're busted too! And no, I'm not into kinky sex, S&M is "Skydivers & Mentors", a group of skydivers who actually believe in the radical concept that you shouldn't have to always pay to get help with your skydiving skills. It's sort of a loose network of skydivers helping other skydivers learn new skills. They have a mailing list that people subscrube to as well. The message that Justin is alluding to is my initial post to that list. It's a really great idea and a really good cause. Their web page is here if you're interested in helping out. 6. It's kind of interesting how my approach to approaches changed when I started testing higher performance canopies. Normally under my Sabre, if I'm a little high I'll use front risers to dive off the extra altitude. On the ellipticals that I've been demoing, I've found myself doing the sashaying a little bit more because it seems like I don't have to do very extreme turning to burn off altitude. It's not the extreme left/rights like I'd have to do with my Sabre to get the same results. "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."
  7. Heh, sort of like rules... records were made to be broken. "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."

Sweet pics! Are those all with the Elph? "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."
  9. Welp, for those of you that have been wondering where my write-up is, I submitted it to Bossman and there is a link off tha main page. You can go directly to it by clicking here. Thanks again all for a wonderful time! And hopefully next year we can get Bossman to come!
  10. Where were you yesterday! I'm prolly going to be washing my car at home. But I'm hoping Atair will let me have it a couple of extra days so I can demo it this weekend as well (if I go be the shipping rules, I'd have to send it back Friday, but I'm hoping they'll let me send it back Monday). I'm also taking Wed - Fri off so I'm sure we can work something out. "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."
  11. I didn't want to write a review until I had been to a few other DZs for comparison purposes. This is my home DZ. I trained here and have done the vast majority of my jumps here. The facilities and people are wonderful. Steve has worked very hard at providing top rate facilities and his work shows. The hangar is huge, as is the landing area. The packing area is also large & air conditioned. What keeps me coming back are the people. Everyone is friendly and whether your thing is freefly, RW or both, it's very easy to hook up with others and jump. There are many excellent big-way RW organizers, such as Scotty Carbone & Tom Jenkins. And of course no review would be complete without noting Scotty Carbone's most excellent food at the Cutaway Cafe.
  12. Now that I've actually jumped a Cobalt, I'll throw in my $0.02 on this. I currently have 162 jumps, most of which are on a PD Sabre 150 loaded at around 1.2. I'm currently demoing a Cobalt 135 loaded at around 1.4. First off, I absolutely love the canopy, though the openings took some getting used to coming off a Sabre. Now I haven't jumped one at 1.1, but I wouldn't be recommending a Cobalt loaded at 1.4 to a beginner. The Cobalt is a high performance canopy. No wmaybe if you consider someone with my jump numbers a beginner, which I pretty much am, then yes it may be OK. But for someone just off student status? I'm not sure I can go that far. Maybe a 1.0-1.1 loading would be OK, but I think that would even be pushing it. Again, I'm not knocking the canopy by any stretch, I'm about 99% certain I'm going to buy one when I get the money. I'm just leery of recommending one loaded at 1.4 to a beginner. "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."
  13. Basically forward or backsliding, in my case, forward sliding. But the slide is so hard that you're "zooming" across the sky. In the video, mine is so hard you see the cameraman literally with his hands pushing on my chest as he gets off to the side. When he let go I was gone. "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."
  14. I can get into and hold a head down, but I've got a bit of a zooming problem. From watching video, it looks like I've got my legs pushed too far back. That's fine, now I know what I need to work on, but what's the best way to go about it? What kinds of drills can I do, or what things can I look for on solo jumps to help cure the problem? "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."
  15. Not that I'm a big swooper or anything, but I have been playing with front riser carves as of late. As I'm making my way to where I'm going to initiate the carve I'm looking all over for slower fliers and making adjustments. You can still do your hi performance turn if you plan ahead and just look around. Plus if you're above it's a heckuva lot easier to find a slot (sort of like when you turn & track off a big way) and take it. Now if the people below suddenly do something weird, like do a 90/180 for no apparent reason, then there might be a legitimate dispute, but if the high person is thinking ahead that shouldn't normally be an issue. Just my $0.02. "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."
  16. Dan & I need to have a little talk.... "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."

  19. I'm not sure what that song is. I've heard it a lot at the DZ. It kinda sorta sounds like Collective Soul but not really. I'll ask Josh next time I see him. "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."
  20. I'd go for the reserve. "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."
  21. Actually I was just trying to come up with a better way of quickly verifying people for impromtu attempts. But you're right on the boogie thing. "Gathering" seemed to work well. "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."
  22. I like it! "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."
  23. Yup my bad too. I have a list of about 100 currently registered Houston-area dz.commers, so I think breaking the 8 again should be no big deal. You and Steve will be notified first.
  24. Thanks again for all your help organizing & coaching. We couldn't have pulled off the records and SCRs without you "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."
  25. Congrats! And let us know when the wedding happens! Heck, we'll even come crash your honeymoon. "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."
