Hey Jim, thanks for taking those CRW pics. I'm really kinda suprised at how good the resolution turned out to be given how far away they were. "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."

Aw quit yer whinin', you're in the group pic! Seriously, I'm kinda surprised cuz I thought I got about everyone at one point or another. There were a few I had to pitch because they came out kinda crappy. Plus you are in a lot of the other sections of my site. Can't leave Mike off! "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."

One of them was jumperpaula, but I don't think the other two were dz.commers. Still, it's another thing to strive for. "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."

I had a similar problem when I went to a suit with booties. I've been working on this in a sit context, but the theory also applies in the RW context. When starting out, rather than doing a steady acceleration to the formation, try kind of a "stairstep" approach. Go forward, slow down, adjust, go forward, slow down, adjust. That will teach you touch. Your legs are your "gas" and your arms are your "brakes". So to go forward, legs out, arms in. To slow down, just the opposite... arms pushing out, legs in. Again as you learn you'll start making small adjustments without thinking about it. A drill that might be helpful is to have someone (i.e. Merrick) go out right before you and then wait for you to come in & dock. When you dock, he can do a couple of backflips & you can try again (or you can backflip & he can try docking on you). Another helpful drill is to dock facing off. Then, with Merrick always facing forward (just falling) fly around to one side & do a side dock. Then fly around behind him & dock on his legs. Then fly around and dock on his other side. Then finish by flying around and facing off with him again. These will help teach fall rate and using fine inputs. "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."

Kinda like Slashdot. Good idea. I never considered that. "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."

OK this is getting downright obnoxious. It's bad enough that you keep asking the same questions over and over even though people have clearly and exhaustively answered them. But posting under a pseudonym and holding conversations with yourself just to keep your threads at the top is totally out of line. Hey Bossman, Skybytch. Y'all should know me well enough to know I have a very long fuse, and I'm generally against censorship. But this kind of behavior seems to be an appropriate justification for a site ban. "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."

I'm normally pretty tolerant of "noise", but the posts from clintonradloff are really starting to become annoying, and, to honest, kinda creepy. Now he's sending previously dead threads to the top and re-posting questions that people have clearly and exhaustively provided answers to. It's like he's not listening at all. This made me wish for something similar in the Usenet/Email world... a killfile. I don't know if that capability exists in the forums but it would be nice to just killfile users that we don't really want to hear from. This would be kinda tricky, because rules would have to be in place to handle thread promotion when ignoring a user, but I think most folks would appreciate it. Keep up the good work Bossman! You can miss out on a record jump if you bootie comes off mid-jump. Seriously though, they make a huge difference. A lot of folks liken it to "power steering" and that's not too far off. I did an RW jump with just my freefly clothes (not a suit, just bagy clothes) on last weekend because I wanted to see how I'd do. I made it in OK, but everything felt "mushy" to me. Then I put my RW suit on for the remaining jumps. It reconfirmed what a difference the booties make. I felt much more in control & able to make more minute adjustments than without them. If you do get them, be aware that you get *serious* forward drive with them. So you're likely to blow past the formation until you get the feel for them. Good luck! "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."

Camera has been found! Pictures will be posted! It was in my locker hanging underneath my clothes (the one place i didn't look). "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."

Sorry Jim! I know we were kinda being "dz.com Nazis". But we kinda had to because we gave the DeLand folks a buncha flak for trying to sneak an unofficial 7-way in on us. Still it's good to see ya on the boards! Post early & often!

Oh man you're a lifesaver! You got a group shot & the SCR pics! That makes me feel a lot better but hopefully my camera will show up soon. Good pics man & great meeting you! Come on down again! "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."
-
Good side note Paula! Pammi, Merrick & I were in on that one. *WHEW*! "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."

The one blemish on an otherwise fantastic weekend is that my digital camera decided to go into hiding. It had all the pics I had taken and I hadn't had a chance to push them to my computer. We do have video of Pammi/chicagoskydiver's SCR jump as well as the record jump. I am going to do a write-up of the weekend in the next day or two. "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."
-
Um... er... ah... my bootie came off. Yep. That's my story & I'm sticking to it. "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."
-
I don't know about a problem per se, but you definitely have a fall rate! Dave & I were doing a 2-way sit jump. As soon as we broke off the train, I spent the rest of the dive trying to catch up in a full out stand that was reading 186 on my ProTrack! "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."
-
Yepper! As soon as we can getthe video to digital format I'll post it to my website (and/or here). "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."

Nope. One point -- an 8-way star. "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."

The attendees of the first dz.com gathering at Skydive Spaceland managed to pull off a new dz.com formation record of 8! carbonzone, jumperpaula, antimike, ramon, chicagoskydiver, aggiedave, conwayjumper and treycopeland are the holders. Congrats guys! I'll provide a more detailed write up of all the happenings later. "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."

I used to be but I gave it up. About the closest I come to any sort of superstitious habit is wishing folks good luck/good jumps when we hit jump run. More of a good vibes thing. It's really all about being mentally prepared. If doing some routine makes you more at ease mentally, I think you will be more apt to have a good/safe jump than if you don't. Of course there's a down side. If, for whatever reason, you don't, or can't do your little thing, you'll get stressed out and start thinking of all the bad things that can happen. This, of course, makes the occurrence of the bad thing more likely because your mind has a remarkable ability to make whatever it's thinking of come to fruition. The old self-fulfilling prophesy thing. Quite frankly, I think that's why bad things happen when people forget to wear their lucky rubber band or whatever. They're so focused on the fact that it isn't there, and all the bad things that can happen, that they aren't devoting their full attention to the task at hand. Just my $0.02. "Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper."

I was kinda thinking along similar lines. If we got a stable base of 4-ish, we could pretty easily speed star the rest. At least for the record it seems like we would just want to maximize the size of the first point -- so we really wouldn't need to mess with 2nd or 3rd points. Of course I'll always throw out ideas, but then I'm prolly not the best person to be suggesting how to do big-way RW dives. Would you and/or Mikey be willing to organize the RW stuff?
