  1. I think it's best to tell her. Being aware of your animals tendancies can prevent future incidents. She can warn people to stay away from the dog while he's eating. I had a dachshund who was the sweetest, most affectionate animal, but when he was eating, you didn't go near him. Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28
  2. Okay, I'll ask a deep question. When, exactly, is my pieing planned, and what, exactly, is going to be in the pies? Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28

  4. 100 posts now, and this still hasn't made it to Speaker's Corner! No seriously, some great points made, and I am learning a lot. Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28
  5. I've never really had a problem with long-term hiccups, but one of my kids did, while I was still sharing my uterous with him! At first it was kinda cute "Aw, the baby has the hiccups." Then after a while it just got dadgum insane driving! Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28
  6. Yes, they did the hanger swoop stunt after the reverse bungee jump/skydive. Wow....I considered myself an adrenaline junkie, until tonight! Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28
  7. I just saw the most unusual sort of skydive/base jump. The guy didn't come out of a plane or jump from any fixed object. He was slung from the ground to almost a thousand feet, cut away the bungee and pulled his chute. Sort of like a reverse bungee jump. It was done at the Royal Gorge bridge and is the coolest stunt I've seen so far. It was shown on the Discovery Channel. Did any one else see it, and can you post a link to a pic or video? I checked DiscoveryChannel.com and couldn't find it. So, if it wasn't a base jump or a skydive, what was it? Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28
  8. Try a spoonful of sugar. Seriously. Marry Poppins really did know her stuff. Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28

  10. I ended up taking a trip to the ER shortly after my first AFF1 jump. I had a panic attack, I was not injured. We did have coverage that took care of most of my bills, and I paid the rest off over time. During that time, I did not quit skydiving. Even if we hadn't had ins., that bill would have been paid and I would have continued jumping. When I made the payment arrangements, the lady I spoke with expressed that she was grateful someone was making an effort to get their bill paid. I worked in the billing department of a medical office for several years, so I understood exactly where she was coming from. Some people may have quit jumping altogether until everything was paid in full, but I am a firm believer in balance. It sounds like that is what most of you are saying. I don't think anybody believes that only those with health insurance should have the privilege to enjoy potentially dangerous activities, and it doesn't sound like anyone on here is expecting to hand off their responsiblities to anyone else. Health insurance is a double-edged sword and a touchy subject. My father-in-law just had open heart surgery a few years ago and he's covered by two insurances. His portion alone is still over 30K. When the bill gets up that high, it may as well be 100K. I'm sure he'll do what he can to take care of that debt, but he doesn't have a lot of years left and I would hate to see him spend the rest of them agonizing over it. Not trying to add to the controversy here, just stating some personal experiences. Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28
  11. Has anyone thought about the song by Faith Hill that was featured in the movie Pearl Harbor? I think the name of the song is There You'll Be. Here are some lyrics: When I think back on these days, and the dreams we left behind, I'll be glad cause I was blessed to get to have you in my life In my dreams I'll always see you soar above the sky, In my heart they'll always be a place for you for all my life, I'll keep a part of you with me And everywhere I am there you'll be I'm about to cry and I did not even know her. It's a beautiful song for an obviously beautiful person. Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28

  15. I will never understand why people care so much about everything being "perfect" for a wedding. It's one overly expensive party that noone else really cares about or will remember. If i ever get married, it will be on a beach somewhere. No fuss of any kind. Quote It's good to not have a "perfect" wedding day...it symbolizes how imperfect and unpredictable marriage can be, and usually is. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28

  20. ***I don't know if you remember Doc from SkyFest, but as a vet, she'll tell you the fact that you were able to overcome pancreatitis - is no less than a miracle. Congrats. Quote Thank you. I may have also had a little help from homeopathy. Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28
  21. Um....just now Considering how much time I spend with Walt, that's shocking! Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28
  22. Yeah, I know it's a little late to be posting this but oh well. Some of you may remember my thread right before Christmas asking for vibes for my little dachshund, Camo. We got him from my aunt in September after we lost two of our dachshunds within a month of eachother You can imagine my (and my family's) despair when this little guy got very sick one night. He started vomiting and became unresponsive. We immediately rushed him to the animal ER and they got him stable. He had gotten into something very toxic. The next evening we got a call from the vet and she was very concerned. She said his breathing was distressed and she didn't want to leave him alone all night, and that he probably wouldn't even make it through the night. His diagnosis was pancreatitis, a usually fatal condition. We brought him home, and I nursed and loved him all night. By morning, he was drinking and breathing normally. The vet was amazed, and I was ecstatic! Please add your own personal good news pet stories. Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28
  23. It's going to be difficult to list them all in a single post, but here's the short list. 1. Not to get upset at things I can't control (from all the bad weather waiting days) 2. I am the only one who can tame my fear and anxieties. 3. One bad experience does not grant a license to give up! 4. That the sky isn't just a beatiful thing to look at
