Okay, here is a thread I hope EVERYONE can participate in, and get something out of. There's been enough tension, pain and just plain crap over the last few weeks. Why don't we recount some great things related to our skydiving experience, be it a person who has mentored us, befriended us or just a memorable experience about the sport. Maybe someone would just like to talk about a fond memory of someone they lost. I'll start with one of the many awesome moments I have experienced in skydiving. It was the day I returned to my home dz in Beaumont, TX. It was there that I learned to skydive, and earned my A license. Shortly after receiving my A, I moved about 4 hours away. While I was a student there, my instructor almost gave me the "take up golf" speech on three different ocassions. Mainly because I was so terrified. Anyway, about 4 months after moving away, I returned to the dz with a friend, and we became the first skydivers ever to do CReW at this dz. We did a couple of rotations, and landed a two-stack under the watchful eye of my beaming, former instructor. I will never forget how he looked at me as he spoke the words "I'm impressed." It was a far-cry from the look on his face that I often saw during my days as his student. This is one of the many moments I will absolutely cherish! Okay, your turn

Shell and I have called a truce. Not only has this thread gotten out of hand, but so have my emotions. So, my apologies to everyone who has been upset by this thread. I'm disappointed in the turn this thread has taken as well, but I didn't turn it that way. And as far as being naive?! Hon....I have experienced things I wouldn't even wish on Bin Ladin! Of course I knew that some people wouldn't get what this thread was about, and would read things into it. I guess I figured they would stay out of the thread, instead of further subjecting themselves and others to more drama. That's what I would have done, but then that's me. And as far as it being the "beauty" of this thread. I wouldn't call it that Of course you are free to respond to this thread, it was only a SUGGESTION that you don't get involved with threads that you're "disappointed" in, and I figured there were plenty of other threads that discussed "why" he got banned. This thread was not started under the cover of beer, or anything else. The entire subject was simply that most of us are surprised Walt hasn't gotten banned sooner. Nothing was mentioned about WHY he got banned. I never brought that up at all, and I never said LET IT GO. If you are disappointed in the thread, you do not have to read it. It is for those of us trying to lighten things up and make fun of Walt getting banned. That is IT. I can't stop people from making more out of this thread than was intended, and I am certainly not going to take responsbility if that's what some choose to do. No way am I deleting this thread. I was very clear in what it was about, and it's not a requirement that everyone read or even post to it. There are plenty of other threads to post in. Many of us were affected by the horrible events of late, and we all handle it in different ways. I am so sorry for those who witnessed any of the fatalities, and this thread was not intended to be disrespectful. One of the fatalities involved a dear friend of mine (and Walt's) and I miss him terribly. One of the things that has gotten me through some pretty horrible events in my life is the ability to laugh. That's all I'm trying to do. I am laughing at the fact that it took Walt this long to get banned....I am NOT making light of WHY he got banned. Please folks, I am not making light of anyone's pain. No, Walt didn't know Danny or Bob, and apparently YOU don't know Walt either. He is not even a little bit about getting attention. He had the misfortune to witness this horrible ordeal and tried desperately to save a life...and has offered selflessly as much as he can to the families. He later lost a very dear friend that same day in a skydiving acciden in Texas. I am not saying any of this excuses or justifies his actions, and what he did certainly does not justify you calling him names. You are doing the very same thing you're critisizing him for. This is not a "bash Walt" thread. I watched him greive for his friend last week and offer everything he could to the families of those we lost. We've all had enough pain in the last two weeks, but he will be the first to tell you what he witnessed and went through is NOTHING compared to what the families went through, and are still going through. Well, thanks shari, but it would take quite a bit of force and a lot of pain for me to have any kind of cleavage even CLOSE to yours! Well, we all knew it would happen eventually, and most of us figured sooner than later. Walt finally did it....went and got himself babababanned!! It's a FIRST! So, does he owe beer....or should we come up with some other initiation requirement? Let's be very creative with this one. I always expected him to get banned for some stupid crap like posting bodily functions or something else as disgusting or worse.
