Please, do not feel picked on, but "Yes" it will. Again... your mission... if you choose to accept it... is to get with a rigger or experienced skydiver at your home DZ this weekend and have them go over a hands-on demo for you showing you how to removed and replace your D-Bag/Bridle/Pilot Chute assembly on your rig / main. Oh PLEEEEEASE! How could I feel picked on? I certainly would not have posted this in here if I was that thin-skinned.....especially when I did some things wrong....or rather....didn't do some things I should have. And anyway, If being/feeling picked on could save my life, I am all for it. Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28

I know without a doubt you wouldn't hurt anyone, but it makes me happy to know you won't be taking any crap off of any man, and that you'll demand respect. Woman power!! Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28

Geez I am really embarassed. I should know the terms of my gear better.....maybe this wouldn't have happened had I been more familiar with my rig. The ring I'm talking about is in the D-bag and it connects 2 pieces of rope that are inside the bag. The guy who discovered it only did so because he was packing for me and attempted to cock the PC. Without that ring, it would absolutely not cock. It had to have come off in the plane or something, because it most definately was not cocked when I tried to deploy. Is that a threat? You got your pieing, and you know that you deserved it. Take it like a woman, babe. First, YOU don't have enough jumps to pie anyone, but you seem to be the mastermind behind many pieings, which is why you earned your pieing from all those whom you wrongly pied by proxy. Second, I do NOT pie people, not EVER. You know this about me, but you pulled me into this dirty pie making scheme. Third, YOUR people (Redwings, Shermie, etc.) ALL told me that YOU were getting pied because you deserved it. Fourth, there was no way in hell that I was pieing Jenn or Skydivermom. *** Lisa, if you EVER "threaten" me again with retaliation (even in jest), I will kick your skinny ass across the pond and into the next DZ. I will NOT react well to retaliation in the form of a pieing or anything similar, so consider that YOUR warning from me. Do NOT fuck with me. Oh man! I am shaking and saying "yes m'am", and you're not even talking to me. Geez I think I'm even older than you. I promise, I will not ever mess with you. That's interesting. I'll keep an eye out in the future. I know now that my pilot chute was not cocked and that's why it wasn't doing the job like it usually does. I think I have velcro on this particular container. Thanks again. Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28

Yeah, I guess that was the wrong thing for me to say to a group of skydivers. I owe more than beer. Everyone there was so good to me. I think I'll be sending a lot of goodies the way of Skydive Elsinore in the very near future. Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28

Could have been, although Lisa was more of a mess than either Jen or I. I just know I had to jump in the shower asap to get that crap out of my hair! I felt the love though

That's 2 Cases of Beer!!!! Oh, come on. That's not fair!

So I guess you had a hesitation. How did you fix it, or did it just fix itself? Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28

Yes, 'Twardo I definately understand that, and it's very sobering. I'm disappointed in myself for not looking over my shoulder before going for silver, and for not becoming more familiar with my gear. Am I correct in thinking that the main had already begun deployment before I went for the reserve handle? Because I think if it had started deploying at exactly the same moment as I grabbed the handle, they both would have come out. Okay, I'm glad to have a name for it now, thanks. I am disappointed in myself for not becoming more familiar with my gear. I just got a new container last July. I didn't have a callapsable pilot chute before that. And I'm certainly going to be better at knowing my gear from now on. I think I can see why you are worried. I didn't state that clearly. What I meant was that if the main had only begun it's deployment when I grabbed my reserve handle, I would have pulled it all the way. It seems as though the main had already begun deployment BEFORE I grabbed the handle. I'm glad I didn't end up with a two out. EXACTLY!! I think that's the main reason why I was so shook up after landing. I was chastising myself (I still am) for not looking over my shoulder before going for silver. It's actually what could have happened that has me more scared than anything. I saw the reserve handle dangling after the main inflated, and was worried all the way down that the reserve would come out. Definatley frightening. I posted the detail in Safety and Training, so I can see why you are worried. Okay, the first time I tried to deploy, the pilot chute would not come out at all (hard pull), when I went for it the second time it was still in the pouch, and when nothing happened after that attempt, I went for the reserve. Since it wouldn't come out on the first attempt, I made a wrong assessment that it was simply a hard pull. So I had more than one issue with the pilot chute on that jump. And it's certainly possible I haven't stated something clearly. I'm still a little jet lagged. Please tell me specifically what was misstated and I'll do my best to clarify. Actually, I started a thread in Safety and Training with the complete details. I did not post all the details here because it's the Chicks Rock/Elsinore thread. If you want the complete details, please see my thread in Safety and Training. Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28

First off, the pilot chute was absolutely cocked when I packed it, so the ring must have come off inside the plane or on deployment. I always check the pilot chute twice before completing the pack job. As I stated in the original post, I should have looked over my shoulder, and I also stated that I was very concerned about having two outs. We are definately going over the gear thoroughly next time I'm at my home dz. So in answer to your question, I absolutely make sure the pilot chute is cocked before I jump it. So I can guarantee the ring was in tact when I packed it. What I believe I need is some more detailed instructions on gear maintenance. But it certainly couldn't hurt to get some additional packing instructions. There's always room for improvement there. P.S. No, I had the reserve handle out of the velcro when my main FULLY inflated. I would have pulled the reserve completely out had the main only started to inflate. Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28

So would that be a partial mal? My pilot chute was out but not deploying the main. Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28

Thanks 'Twardo. It did take everything I had to go back up and jump again, but I'm glad I did. Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28

That is great advice. I know I'll definately be checking the ring on a regular basis for sure. Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28

Gonzo you're a blast! Thanks for the rodeo dive. Get yer butt to Texas soon

0:6:several Not sure how many "beer" offenses this weekend, but it sure was a blast. My first out of state boogie.....CHICKS ROCK!! Made 6 fabulous jumps. Loved the view. Had my first high speed mal.....almost pulled my reserve. Forced myself to jump one more time so my last experience at Elsinore would be a good one. Mel took great care of me on a beautiful sunset tracking dive. Skydive Elsinore is fantastic! Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:28
