I actually just booked a hypoxia class in OKC and get to do a chamber ride on 4-10. Thanks for the video and this post I'm excited about the class. Call him and ask him then. If Max wants to come on here and say what happened more power to him, but if not oh well. If you really want to know though call him, the source couldn't be any better. I didn't know Bruce Springstein was a skydiver. At first I thought Chuck looked like an older Ed Norton, but then a friend of mine said, "That's a shorter version of Bruce Springstein." and I agreed with her more. Is Skydiving an extreme sport?
WatchYourStep replied to aguila's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
To me it depends. If a team is working on things/ competing against others, it an extreme sport. On the weekends when I'm doing fun jumps and stuff I consider it a hobby maybe extreme hobby or activity. "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. You're going to have a blast. Call up SVO and ask for Dan Perry. The guy is an amazing flier and is very easy to work with. Spend the extra money for an actual coach (cough cough Dan) it'll be worth it. "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. Been sick for a day so haven't checked this until now. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! It seems you saved me a great deal of headaches. That's why I put it up here. I'll be placing my order with B&H either late this week or early next week.

Seperation - near collision during deployment
WatchYourStep replied to lintern's topic in Safety and Training
NO PRO OR INSTRUCTOR HERE What were the ground speeds like? What were the uppers doing, etc? A 5 second blanket rule isn't a good one to go from what I was taught. There are several other variables. Not to mention when you sit do you normally fall down the tube or are you driving/backsliding over the sky. Just questions not ripping on you or anything. Edited to add: At least being that close left you plenty of time to do some CRW "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. Yeah tanks are very rewarding but can take a lot of time. Are you somewhere will you plan to live for a while? Moving tanks is a pain in the rear and can create a great amount of stress on the inhabitants. This is one of those threads that can go on and on forever. I had a 55 gallon tank for 2 or 3 years when I was around 20. I don't even want to think about how much money I put in it. I then pieced out the rocks and sold them as well as the equipment. This place was a blast. The vibe was that of a small time DZ but with big planes. Just overall it was a great place to jump and you can learn anything you want at that place.

This place was awesome. I've been there twice and plan on going many more times. While I was down there I was able to get on some really fun RW jumps with people who didn't mind helping someone with low numbers learn. They also had some wingsuit flyers as well so that was nice and there wasn't a shortage of FF on my two visits.

I just got settled in after returning from my recent trip to Florida. Instead of posting multiple threads in different areas I figured I'd just do it here. So here it goes: Sherry at Firefly: She got me an excellent FF suit in 6 weeks for the trip. I called her two weeks before I was leaving and she said I'd have it for the trip. It arrived 2 days before I left. The suit looks great. I'm excited to get more jumps in it. SkymonkeyONE: Chuck is one cool guy. He showed my friends and I an excellent time while visiting Z-Hills. It was cool to meet someone like Chuck who has such a knowledge of the sport. If you are headed that way and taking a friend or two with you who want to do a tandem, consider dropping him a PM. Plus I think he looks like an older version of Edward Norton. Dan Perry: Paige put me in touch with Dan for some coaching at the tunnel in Orlando. This guy is an unreal flyer and a heck of a coach. I did 3 x 15min pieces (I still have money left over for my XTi) and it was the best money I spent. If you are heading that way get a hold of call the tunnel and ask for him. Michelle: I can't recall her last name but she was a FF organizer there. I did two jumps with her and a few others. She was very friendly and gave me good advice when we got on the ground. She also took me out on my first head down exit, what a rush! Z-Hills: Overall this place was amazing. The vibe was great and it was just an overall good time. I wish I would have spent both days there instead of traveling to check out another DZ. While we were enjoying 80 degree weather in Florida our friends were enjoying 5 degree weather in Kansas. Ha ha. PS: Yes I know my beard is scruffy and needs to be trimmed up. I plan on doing getting rid of the whole thing before long. PPS: Pictures of suit to come. Questions About USPA Budget
WatchYourStep replied to WatchYourStep's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Thank you to the person who PMd me the link to the Governance Manual at USPA website. I plan on reading it on my plane ride on Sunday. I'm sure I'll have some questions. For anyone interested in it you can find it here, then just click on Governance Manual "You start off your skydiving career with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. Questions About USPA Budget
WatchYourStep replied to WatchYourStep's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Matt would you mind sharing with us what he does, since you've already spoke with him? Also I noticed in another thread Clicky you wrote "And now some want to attack and question the Exec. Dir. for what he does and how much he is paid? I submit he is not paid enough since he has to act on our behalf and do what we refuse to do, stand up for our sport." Is that statement in part due to this post? If so I still can't find where anyone attacks Mr. Needles or says he doesn't do enough. I would think that someone questioning the way the executive process is done at USPA would be applauded because it shows an interest in the workings of OUR organization. Then again I could be wrong.
