  1. Could any one explain what that is? Bill?
  2. no, I am saying that teen pregnancy for instance is a bigger problem in North America.
  3. so when is he running his correction notice for making up a publication and statistics? Anyways, to me the CBC piece showed that many of these so called news reporters, talk show hosts etc are really no different from Jerry Springer.
  4. on the alcohol side I think a big part is attitude as well. When I grew up in Holland, the legal drinking age was officially 16. Though if a 14 year old walked into a store and wanted to buy a couple of beers, there just would not be a problem. Most kids start drinking at home, at the dinner table, with their parents. It is all out in the open. To me, it all comes down to the thought that the more you forbid people to do something, the more people will end up abusing it. To me, that is clear with alcohol, drugs and sex when comparing Europe to North America.
  5. yikes bad spelling on my part Ron, I better start planning on bringing a wintercoat when they send me to hell
  6. That is one of the main issues with Fox News though, even when caught making mistakes, or just plain making things up, they won't run correctioin notices.
  7. yes, i am sure it was in the medical's personel best interest to lie about that
  8. let me ask you directly then. what do you think of a guy like O'Reilly making up his own publication and statistics?
  9. Right, but she would have wanted her parents to make her a puppet for the religeous right.
  10. Of course they do, just like any other television network.
  11. I know that in Holland, last names and pictures of faces are not allowed at least until convicted.
  12. I still like the part about Bill O'Reilly just making up his own publication and his own statistics and everybody just seems to take it for gospel.
  13. it is interesting to see that even though many european countries have a social network setup, similar to a socialist mindset, there is a clear undertow of almost extreme right views when it comes to immigration policies.
  14. Sure it does, you just may end up getting killed for it. They may for instance, be considered the enemy.
  15. I am happy to supply some comedic relief, my wife always tells me I have no sense of humour.
  16. That doesn't dispute the fact that even those guns where at some point legally owned. He didn't say legally owned in the US.
  17. There was nowhere in the piece that claimed that there was or is political unity in Canada. Though, I would venture to guess, specifically in the Quebec issue, that we got closer together - politically - and I doubt the same can be said for the US. enlightning response though.
  18. She went on to cspan and indicated that she really meant that many canadians joined the US military to go to Vietnam and that the interviewer (the one for CBC) obviously didn't know that since he is such a bubblehead. I know the whole episode is something like 42 minutes, but it really is worth watching.
  19. might be good to get information from more than just one source.
  20. lots of sand around.... it would appear though that he is saying that he travelled to both coasts, traveled to Texas and travelled to Arizona.
  21. Granted the CBC is certainly a left leaning network, but certain parts of this show are very funny, some certainly opened my eyes. I wasn't very familiar with Ann Coulter, never realized she regards every liberal like the enemy. Interestingly enough, the show continues on showing she doesn't always know what she is talking about. Her only response.....name calling. Bill O'Reilly unfortunately never took them up on a request for an interview, since that would have been very amusing. But he appears to making up his own publications, and his own statistics. No spin zone indeed...... Al Franken crying, which was pretty entertaining as well. There are some claims in the show that state that the US has not been this divided since the civil war. Anyways, for those interested in taking a small glimpse into what others see and think about the US, take a look here: http://www.cbc.ca/fifth/sticksandstones.html
  22. And that is encouraged by the government to keep people sharp for military service. Since you seem to be so fond of google, look up shooting competitions prior to WWII. Really, whenever I talk about anything related to America, the question is usually raised if I have ever been, or have ever lived in the US. Seems to be relevant for quite a few of your contemporaries. Wich could include your own government. Not so in Switzerland.
  23. exactly my point, you won't know the answer until after you're dead.
