    Not complete, but I think one aspect is missing. I think the big stick behind the door is the ability of Dems to now hold hearings into and subpeona a bunch of Republicans on all kinds of sensitive matters. I have this suspicion that the Republicans have some skeletons/embarrasing things in the closet which they would like to keep there. Blackmail may override a Veto or two.

Which was my point from the beginning. If you want to use a book for your personal guidelines, more power to you. I mean there are tons that use Hubbard's writings as their "guide through life".

    Actually I made the comment in this thread, three posts above yours. But it wasn't in the form of a question, it was a statement, that I was amazed that they hadn't. Then we got into how you like to throw around how Democrats have no character, implicating you think republicans are full of character. At which point I asked, if they were, how come they achieved pretty much nothing in the last couple of years. To this point, you have failed to answer that question.

    I know you like throwing that around. But I have a question for you. If the Rupiblicans are of such sound character, how come they acheived almost nothing while holding a sizeable majority and the presidency for a number of years?

    Apples are obviously evil. If we could only rid the wrold of all apples, the world would obviously be a better place. What? You mean you aren't supposed to take that stuff literally? You mena it really just means that you have to listen to God or else? And that God is represented by the organized religions, so listen to the organized religions or else? The whole thought of moral codes etc is great. We all can learn from that. The problem is organized religion. It doesn't work for the same reason communism doesn't work. Ego and power, hence ultimately money. It is however the grandest and most successful mass manipulation scheme ever invented.....

    Nice to see some honesty. I have said before that the conservatives had a great opportunity to do great things. Not often do you get handed a situation to affect change so easily. I am dumbfounded it was not greatly taken advantage of. One of the few things I can think of is that many were so happy basking in the glory of power that they forgot they actually had to do some work too.

    No it was sarcasm. America is already seen as the most arrogant nation around. A president who would act in such a manner in a public forum would do even more damaga to the country's perception. I know it is a discussion that would never become reality, but why would a President who displays a complete lack of common decency increase your willingness to vote for him?

They had a great opportunity to do great things, I am sure you will be able to bring forward a long list of all the wonderful achievements in the last couple of years?
