    Don't think that is the case at all. He was the voice of deregulation, he was one of the main drivers behind low interest rates. He always maintained that a housing bust was near impossible. He was, if not the most powerful, one of the most powerful economic figures in the world for close to two decades. This isn't a whitch hunt, this is people finally understanding that fully free market capitalism doesn't work for the same reason communism doesn't work.....greed.

    She denied medical attention, her story is now changing...she is a fake who tried to get some attention for herself and probably thought she would get some good attention for McCain. Sad girl really, she needs some phychological help.

    McCain is not opposed to money from foreign countries. As a matter of fact, he is openly asking for it, he even sent a letter to the Russian envoy to the UN asking for a campaign contribution....

    Not talking about giving up rights in that sense, nor do I equate free speech with walking around with a gun, just have never seen the logic in that connection. My question was a basic principle question, if that amendmend was put in for a specific purpose and that purpose is no longer possible, why keep the amendmend?

    Aren't the guns in circulation supposed to prevent that from happening? Isn't that the thought process that an armed population could stop a rogue government?

    She would be a great president, she resonates with the common folk just like Bush did. And he has been one of the best president's ever.

    Why didn't the Republicans when they had a Republican controlled congress, Republican President and a Republican controlled committee?

    I am sure there is enough blame to go around for both Ds and Rs. For me personally, fact remains that a R has been the captain of the ship for the last 8 years. Makes it time for a D to be captain and see if he can get the ship pointed in a different direction. If in your mind all the mistakes were made more than 8 years ago (and I just don't agree with that), why hasn't the R who has been in power for 8 years done something about it?

    The US is about to socialize the financial system, is fighter a War in Iraq because it sounded good to PNAC and is basically completely out of money. Trillions we are talking about. But you don't like Obama cause his wife got a couple of thousand dollars more. I think it may be wise to look at a bigger picture.

    After 8 years of a Republican running the country completely into the ground.....why would anybody want to give the Republican party another 4 years at the helm?

    Well, you get what you vote for..... I have said it before, the man has a history of bankrupting anything he comes in contact with, now he has done it with the US. Regardless of whether this package gets accepted or not (and I am pretty sure it will, welcome to the feelings those had who were against the invasion of Iraq), we are witnessing the end of the US as the economic powerhouse. Bush certainly doesn't get all the blame, but it all happened on his watch....and we all know where the Buck is supposed to stop.... (btw, I agree with the thoughts and economics behind you post, it is however very ironic to see Bush standing there and telling people the US should socialize the financial system)

    I think the main reason he is doing this is to get the Vice Presidential debates cancelled. Palin has been carefully shielded from the media and really only has done three interviews, all scheduled with I am sure lots of preperation. The debates, I think, would quickly show her complete lack of foreign experience (for christ sake, she didn't even get a passport till 20-06). McCain wants out of those VP debates, he knows it has a high chance of sinking his ship....or at least the chance of a negative outcome is significantly higher than the chance of a positive outcome....

    No socialized healthcare, but a socialized financial system. Interesting country that US of A. I think this episode clearly shows that pure capitalism just doesn't work. (funny enough it doesn't work for the same reason that pure communism doesn't work either)

    What is really intruiging in following the discussions on Speakers Corner is that, while you have a President who has bankrupted every company he has ever worked for, and has now almost completely bankrupted the country.....(No real surprise here, just prior experience repeating itself) While all that is going on, you are discussing which duo is better to lead the country. The duo made up of a bad pilot, who dumped a beauty queen when she got ugly to marry another beauty queen and the running mate who is a beauty pageant loser. Or the opponents who are two lawyers.... Lol, you guys are fucked.

    Where do you get that from? Most of the high risk debt came from the US housing market and associated credit swapping.
