In 2007 there were 12 murders in North Dakota, in 1994 there was 1. The rate has fluctuated between 15 and 1 since 1960. The rate foir 2007 was well above avergae, in 2008 it was below average. Nothing really can be taken from that when it comes to guns. Somebody on the other side of the gun divide might ask how it was possible that 12 people were murdered in 2007.

Nah, he uses it to indicate that there should never be a handgun ban in the US. But in other threads he says that culture and different countries cannot be compared. JR is the posterboy for flipflopping and really should go work for a politician.

That's like asking people to sign a petition to demand Fox News to stop their liberal slanted opinions.

Would the USA ever adopt the metric system, realisticly?

Yeah but at least I wouldn't have to guess anymore whether I should use volume or weight -
Not too many drive by knivings. Why start a thread about gasoline bombs because you want to discuss the difference between gun perception and knife perception....quite silly.

Did you get that from your local KKK meeting JR? I know you secretly can't wait for the black version of Brokeback Mountain to be made....

2008 was the year man-made global warming was disproved

You do realize that the article you linked to is from a columnist who has been proven to lie if it helps his opinion? If you want your opinion to be taken as valid, you may want to link to some better articles. Just like research from the brady institute or the NRA doesn't really prove ,uch in gun debates... -
Our friends from England on this forum might disagree with you on that John...

Didn't lose a dime, actually made money. Took everything out of stocks right before the big down-turn. Now it is savely tucked away, under the deposit insurance limit at each institution. Made some decent money on the wild swings since too....now is a great time to buy for those that have some money tucked away....

What's the problem? Isn't that exactly why the 2nd amendmend was put in place....so you can shoot the guy coming for your guns? If you have sufficient firearms and ammunition you have nothing to worry about.
-
Very funny coming from somebody in the US, which has a far more recent history of invading a country without a valid reason and killing thousands in the process.
-
Interesting comment. So, when do the restrictions become severe enough that you would be willing to start killing people over it?
-
Then why haven't you taken up arms and used your fire arms to fight for the rights granted in the 2nd amendmend? Isn't that exactly what that 2nd amendmend was created for? Those pro gun always claim that a fire arm is just a tool. In a way I agree with you. The 2nd amendmend gives you the right to own a tool, for a specific purpose. Why is it that none of you are willing to use that tool for the purpose you were given the right for? And, since nobody is willing to do that, doesn't it logically flow that either the restrictions aren't that severe (maybe not even severe enough) or the purpose of the amendmend is no longer valid and therefore the amendmend should really no longer be valid.

I keep hearing that argumnt about defending free speech, and it is a nice emotional one, makes you feel all nice and warm inside. But, can somebody explain what fighting in Iraq has to do with defending free speech?
-
And you have been asked questions in response, ones that are actually within the context of this thread. So far the only one looking silly is you. Even my 4 year old understands the concept of context. (but then he has been tested in the 95th percentile)

Fuck me...I thought you 'Mericans had the right to shoot anybody But, as I understand it, the 2nd was mostly added to protect the populous from a rogue government. In today's day and age it is odd that a document places more value on forcibly overthrowing the government than voting for a new one...
-
Pretty fucked up document then, when shooting the government is more important than voting for them....
-
The question is pointless without teh right context You of all people should understand that. legal shootings are all based on context. If the questions simply was: Did you shoot and kill him, many more people would be in jail for murder. You demanding an answer out of context is intellectually dishonest. (And the funny thing is, that is exactly what you accuse Kallend of doing)
-
I guess not everybody sees voting and owning a gun as identical issues. Some might even argue that some one with a mental issue could do more damage with one gun than with one vote.
-
I feel a semantics argument following this one on what is considered normal, as an example, to me having guns in the house is not normal and requiring some form of approval from the government is very normal.
-
There are many other sunstances that you need government approval or clearance for. usually have to do with how much damage they could do. In that light, government approval for the sale of fire arms isn't that weird.

Oh, I know that one.....if they are arrested and look different or I don't agree with them politically, then they are guilty. If they are arrested and don't look different or I agree with them politically, well then they are innocent, they may even be innocent after being convicted. depends on how alike they are or how much I agree with them.

Greed killed communism, what you are seeing now is greed slowly killing capitalism.

You say that as a negative, but when American goods and services become cheaper, they are more in demand in the rest of the world, which stimulates your national economy.
