I was at Desire Resort & Spa in Cabo last August and can tell you it gets pretty hot and humid, doesn't cool down much at night either. Temperatures around the high 90's during the day, felt like high 80's during the night....and pretty muggy... But...what a great time!!!!

Media dramatization regarding US shooting incidents
SkyDekker replied to vortexring's topic in Speakers Corner
Why? I thought that if guns were banned criminals could easily get guns anyways? -
On Meet the Press he claimed he would not accept donations from any corporations

Sen McCain on foreign policy, defense policy, national security
SkyDekker replied to nerdgirl's topic in Speakers Corner
Exactly, if it is a great time to be a soldier, it is an incredibly outstanding time to be a defense supplier. (I wonder where their money goes ) -
1. similar to the scenario you described. 2. some women very much enjoy it during or leading up to sex. 3. she hits me first.
-
Max, I know that you and I don't see eye to eye on many things. What you have gone through, I cannot even come close to imagining. However, the mindset and positivity you have displayed throughout it all is nothing short of admirable and worthy of a lot of respect!!

Sorry, don't agree with that. Can think of at least three circumstances in which I would hit a woman.
-
Couldn't agree with you more. I have never hit a woman (outside of sex lol), but have always told SOs that if they hit me, I would hit back.

My Recent Fox News and CNN Appearances (Guns on College Campuses)

You are absolutely right in your statement. Criminals will always be able to get guns. Just as long as people accept that an armed populace also increases your odds of getting killed. There is a trade off for everything in life. -

I was looking at things in a slightly grander scheme than if I had a gun in my hands at the time of mugging. Comparing violent crime rates and homicides in the US and other Western countries. As Kallend pointed out, comparing those same rates at student campuses. While the ready availability may or may not have downward pressure on violent crime rates, it does seem to increase homocide rates. Hence, my statement above. -
Equity Loans and Refinances Caused More than Half of Foreclosures

The US Government is essentially doing the same thing on a much larger scale as what the people in Fresno were doing with their houses. -
I think this incident shows this guy maybe shouldn't be a corrections officer either. And I think there are enough incidents out there to see that being a government employee doesn't mean you can keep your temper in check. That sarcastic statement is certainly better suited for a proscecutor than a defense lawyer

Because most people would rather get mugged than killed. Now I know some people will say that they would rather have the option of stopping the mugger with a gun. Which is certainly a valid point. However, the data shows that option carries with it a higher risk of being killed. In the end I would rather have a slightly higher chance of getting mugges with a significatly lower chance of getting killed over the opposite. -

Not straws, just pointing out that you used a large sweeping statement while you really meant a much more defined statement. -
If they were both CCW holders then it would appear that the laws and processes are flawed in this case.

Some one once told me that: The ass you kick today might be the ass you have to kiss tomorrow. Wise words I try to live by.

Your instant defense leads me to believe you see verbiage like that as law abiding. I see it as representative of a "I don't givce a fuck about laws and do what I want" kind of attitude, so we may be mismatched as to what we see as law abiding. (and I still seriously wonder if CCW holders run less red lights and make less rolling stops at a stop sign) -

You mean law abiding like the poster in a different thread who said he doesn't give a shit about stupid mall rent-a-cops cause with the right clothing and the right holster they can't notice he is carrying? That kind of law abiding? -
These threads are becoming so predictable it would be almost funny if it wasn't for the subject material.... To me the flaw in the system is the ability of people who need mind/mood altering drugs to stay sane to legally acquire handguns. The second question I have is: does the constitution put an age limit/requirement on the right to bear arms?

Is Joran Van der sloot giving it up? Natalee Holloway disappearance.
SkyDekker replied to ifall's topic in Speakers Corner
As I understand it, he does mention the name of the guy who he called to dispose the body. That guy claims he was in Rotterdam at the time and doesn't have a a boat to begin with. -
Too funny, I was thinking the exact same thing....my two year old daughter does a perfect....oh man....

This is a post that I stick to the top of the General Forum when I get a rash of threads I have to move because they were posted in the wrong topical forum. You may find it informative regarding your assessment of the dropzone.com community, especially this reply from Sangiro. I can tell you that this reflects real life; I have been a part of two organizations that grew very quickly over time. One of them stayed ahead of its own growth by segmenting itself internally to remain effective; the other was more reactionary after the fact. The first maintained its intimacy and relationships, the second struggles to do so. These folks are not just in skydiving . . . they are on the highways, in the workplace, etc. That is sad to hear. Of course I respect your decision, but I think that those effects are more significant at some DZs more than others (although nowhere is completely immune) - thus is human nature. The overall size of the audience - I agree. Our internal segmenting to allow for the growth - I disagree. I wasn't talking about the discipline specific, or skydiving related forums. I think those seperated forums are a great idea and a great way of channeling the conversations.

Foreign perspective regarding US Presidential elections

Who are you to say what gets posted on a web site hosted on Canadian servers and owned by a South African? Did I miss when you became a real citizen of the world? Don't think you have the "Standing" to make statements like that.. -
Gotcha. Thanks for the explanation.

he is an arrogant prick and extremely ego-centric, which may become part of his defense. But, in the end not enough is known to really say anything. It will be interesting to see if his "admission" will even be allowed in court. Following the dutch papers, this has already spun into different directions. It should be noted that the "friend" was paid by a tv program to get his admission on tape. The tape has been heavily edited for airing during the tv program.
