    If you want to be competitive in any industry that is labour intensive, you will have to be competitive on the cost side. Meaning significantly lower hourly rates.

Don't like it, don't use their services. I haven't seen 1 liberal complain about the cost of a college degree. that cost is rising faster than gas. 60k to 200k for a degree that will pay 30k-60k a year? incebting the graduates for life?

    It isn't the same. Exxon saying that they make a 2 cent profit on every gallon sold is simply intellectually dishonest. By the time it gets to the retailer level, Exxon has already made the majority of their profits from the product. Which at that point gets labelled as cost. I don't begrudge them their profits, actually my stock portfolio is quite enjoying them.

    70% of total profit. I am not screaming about the profits oil companies are making. I think there might be some price collusion going on in my local market, but it is very hard to prove. Would like to see an example of a college making more profit than Exxon though. Yes, from the oil company perspective that is indeed what they would want. From a consumer perspective you would probably want your politicians to lobby for increased refinery capacity.

Chuck Yeah, and then when you have a super outbreak where thousands of homes are destroyed, you find reports of insurance companies short-changing clients to the point they can't even fucking rebuild! That's just capitalism and the free market. Don't like it? Use a different insurance company next time......

I HAVE to go, and they WILL disarm me. You OK with that? You are trying to distort, this guy was not searched because he was arrested. He was searched because he was going to be put into jail. Right - administrative convenience, not because they had any probable cause to believe he had contraband. Yet you want gun owners to go through psych evals without any probable cause that they have mental illness. Only the crazy ones. How do you know they're crazy without the evals? Your future telepathy machine? Youtube video diagnosis? Superlative google skills? Twitter.

    Firstly you are confusing profit and revenue. Secondly, what Exxon lists as cost of a gallon of gas at retail already contains a hefty profit margin. If you'd actually read the post, you would have seen that Exxon said their PROFIT on a gallon was slightly over two cents, as opposed to the 48 cents that gov't gets. Feel free to provide the numbers proving your claim, however. That's because they are only listing their downstream profits.Downstream activities account for only about 30% of their profits. They buy the crude on the international market, like everybody else. However, they are also major sellers on the international market. So, when they buy crude for downstream activities, part of that money goes into their own pocket as profits, yet for their "blog post" they would list it as a cost. May help if you think about it as opposed to just reading a blog post.

    Saudi Arabia Kuwait Iraq Canada Anybody attacking those countries will face retaliation by the United States. Add up the proven oil reserves in those countries. I haven't even listed Qatar and UAE, who likely would get immediate protection as well. Never mind when the US decides to meddle more with Iran as well.
