  1. Just as long as you realize that sudden withdrawal, your Cold Turkey, can be deadly. Rather big gamble to take with a country.
  2. DOn't get me wrong, I would love to keep much more of what I make too. And I absolutely detest those who take advantage of the system and get money for doing nothing. However, money is required to keep a country running and make it viable. All this talk about tax reduction and having the lowest possible taxes mean sacrifices have to come from somewhere else. You always like this one: Cost, quality, quantity. So if you want these massive reductions on cost....where are you willing to take the impact? Kill more Americans or lower the quality of living?
  3. You can't run your country on your current level of income, lowering income doesn't seem like the most logical step to take. Who has benefited the most during the last 12 years of war? While the children of the poor and the middle class have been out dying and spilling blood so the rich can get richer. Only seems logical that some of those riches can be used to at least pay for the sacrifices made by the rest of society.
  4. As Jon Stewart pointed out: Why do we care so much more about those who lied about being in a war, than those lies that get us into wars?
  5. Ah, you see there's your hypocrisy. You're judging one book by how it is used and another book by what is written in it. He reminds me of Alabama. Create an amendment to the state constitution to prevent the application of any foreign law. Then objecting to something based on christian law.
  6. I couldn't agree more. I challenge both of you to write a sensible law covering an issue which has not yet been a problem.
  7. Turtle doesn't answer questions, he just replies with a rehashed version of: I know what you are, but what am I....
  8. So you think slavery was a good policy and just had poor implementation. Kinda like obamacare. Yes clearly that is what I think.
  9. Of course it would seem that way to you. It is very logical for people who support a good policy, but are against the poor implementation of it, to make those reparations. That's why you always stand first in line to make reparations for slavery.
  10. What does any of this have to do with what you wrote in post #20? If this is all you meant then "poor wording" is an understatement. No, that was in response to you showing how much money you spend on education and health. Post 20 was simply indicating that american society has no appetite to increase taxes to spend on education and health. Both systems are signifcantly behind the rest of the civilized world, unless you have lots of money to spend.
  11. That's rich. I'll remind you of that when next you discuss policy of US police and their trustworthiness. Apparently Canadian cops weren't trustworthy either in this case. So, how do we deal with that? Your option appears to be, don't allow them to check if people need help evacuating. My option is punish the cops responsible, but keep checking if help is required in those instances. Not sure how "that's rich". So how is fair compensation made available then? All the people want is their priceless heirlooms back. Which is why the cops should be punished for not following the correct procedures and ensure this doesn't happen again. Punishment is in NO WAY WHATSOEVER recompense for the loss. Proper compensation should and MUST BE MADE, or you cannot truthfully say that the actions were even remotely a good thing. Yeah, I never said the actions were a good thing. I said the policy was good. Here we go having to spend time on you again...
  12. Chivalry died at the handsof militant feminism. I hold open doors for strangers all the time because it's a nice thing to do if can, and had some halfwit go "I don't need you to hold a door open for me because I'm a woman!" recently, it was pretty sad. Should have retorted "you don't need me to hold the door open for you because you're a bitch" then run! Reminds me of a buddy back in high school. We were in a bar and he was eyeing up the girl across the room. She decided to walk over and ask him what he was looking at. His response: Now that you are this close, I am wondering the same thing.
  13. Let's say it costs $1 to have a tooth extracted in country A and it costs $10 to extract a tooth in country B. In that case, excuse me for not being entirely enthusiastic about Country B talking about how at $100 they spend so much more than country A's $85 on helping their society get their teeth extracted.

The best way to judge the "Creepy Factor"? Look at the eyes of the girl in question, she looks beyond uncomfortable. I don't disagree. But, pictures can be deceiving when it comes to this. I have certainly seen pictures of myself where my eyes look like I am either completely drunk or stoned, while I know 100% I was not.
  15. I never said that. The police need not do anything criminal for someone to get screwed over by the sum-total of behavior, that's kinda the point of my post. And the fact that there would be nothing criminal about it is actually what makes your prospects of trying to get back to where you started so terrible. What's the alternative? I dunno, maybe if police have such a bad record of collecting, documenting, properly storing, and returning firearms to their owners they should just leave them the hell alone. How about that? So your solution is that if due to lawlful police action a firearm is left in plain view and for easy taking, in other words unsafe, the cops should just leave it? I think the current policy when properly implemented makes more sense. If due to lawful police action a firearm is left unsafe, they have a procedure to deal with that. What the cops did was wrong, the policy isn't wrong.
  16. Nothing beats Psalms 137:9 "Happy is he who smashes the Heads of babies against the rocks" And Christians will tell me that I'm taking it all out of context. The difference being that there isn't a large group of christians forcing people to live according to a literal interpretation of the old testament.

He should be charged with serial whispering.... (credit to reddit)
  18. My 2nd grade teacher (Ms. Claybaugh) taught me a valuable lesson: If you can't explain it in a few simple words, you don't understand it yourself. More on this. Trying to explain to the willfully ignorant takes more time than and more effort than there is time or effort to spend. So, in this case your anecdote is false. No wonder why have to spend so much time on you. Was that English, or did your comment just backfire? 'Cuz, that wasn't very intelligible. Lol it was indeed poorly written. But pretty understandable for the non-willfully ignorant. See, now we have to spend more time on you again....
  19. I'm sympathetic with Andy's comments and won't hack on him like you do here. It's a lot easier to say what I wrote than to actually live it. But if we really want to get past ingrained biases and treat people like equal individuals, I still think it's worth saying on occasion. And doing our best to try and walk that talk. Plus we all have our double standards....
  20. http://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2013/06/10-years-after-the-fall-of-saddam-how-do-iraqis-look-back-on-the-war/277362/ If you would like to place blaim how about the UN Security council that stopped Schwarzkopf from finishing the job in '91. Hard to believe that was 24 years ago. I don't think anybody is claiming the Kurds were better off under Saddam.

Yeah looks like he likes to get close and personal.

  23. Yes, that is exactly what I said! lol, is that what you heard on the radio? ISIL under that naming was formed in April 2013. Islamic State of Iraq formed somewhere in 2006. The foundation for these groups goes back to 1999. Clearly when you look at those dates September 2012 stands out. Yes, exactly the same! I think I heard that on the radio too.
