But we're paying for it and need to have say in the matter. Yes, but in general the average American simply cares about punishing prisoners and making sure that prison is as hard as possible. This mindset aligns nicely with keeping recidivism high and business booming. Bloodlust and the need and desire for "revenge" overpower any desire for cost savings. Those should be attained by feeding cheaper and housing more. This allows to keep cost per prisoner low, but overall costs high do to the staggering amount of prisoners.

For full disclosure, is this the actual person involved in Trump's campaign or is some guy from another sector. We've seen plenty of videos of employees who's work has nothing to do with a particular subject matter but they're taking as the example that proves the point. Recent examples have been NASA employees who don't believe in global warming or network employees who say their network makes up things. My understanding is that he is the CEO. in the first segment the VP or SVP said that they do not do such things, in a subsequent email, the CEO himself plainly says that they do and even where they get the girls from. -
Only because you clearly can't read. Read the sentence again and see if you can spot the word you missed. It is only 4 letters, so easily overlooked. Since reading is such a big chore, maybe discussions about how to avoid school shootings is a bit too advanced?

How many Mexicans have you brought into your home in the name of communal love and charity? What does that have to do with assuming every brown guy is part of a gang? Just because they don't look like you doesn't mean they are inferior to you. Thought a christian would understand that concept.
-
Such a stand up guy. I am sure heaven is waiting for a fine christian like yourself.

I am going to predict that self-destructing emails are going to play a role in bringing down the Trump administration. That is right, emails are going to be the downfall of Trump.

Nix: The Republicans asked 3 questions, 5 minutes, done. The Democrats asked two hours of questions. -
It is stunning that a live round would ever be chambered in a class on gun safety. Inert plastic rounds are used and available for such instruction. Third grader shoots cops gun at school: http://www.policemag.com/channel/patrol/news/2018/02/06/minnesota-3rd-grader-fires-officer-s-holstered-gun-at-school.aspx Its stunning school children have to stage walkouts to try and get adults to prevent massacres in their classrooms. No, what is amazing is the parents of these children are allowing the idiot media and gun control zealots to use their children!!! Yes, while the kids are getting shot, more again today. The adults are busy ensuring porn is seen as a public health problem and animals don't go in the overhead bins. The kids are just asking the American adults to listen. They would probably prefer to go to school without fear of getting shot.

Well, what would you propose? Somebody breaks the law, he goes to prison and serves his/her time, gets out... You'd hope they learned their lesson. Nope, back in they go, for a longer term... then get out... Still didn't learn your lesson? Fuck you, go back for even longer... Sure, some of the 2nd and 3rd blown chance sentence lengths gets ridiculous sometimes depending on the crime, and no, our system isn't perfect. Laws are written to modify sentence lengths every now and then, but there's always going to be people who don't like it. I would propose that you don't jail people for 50 years for petty crimes even if it is a third petty crime. Pedophiles get lighter sentences, much lighter sentences.
-
Yes. Though the guy would have only gotten 1 year max if his prior crime was rape or murder. But because it was the extremely serious crime of petty theft, the sentence had to be much more severe.
-
Ever think about all the folks that did long sentences for a simple drug crime that today is no longer a crime? We live, we evolve. Jerry Baumchen PS) Other than alcohol, I have never used illegal drugs. Simple drug crime? Try life without parole for 50 years for shoplifting. https://www.americanbar.org/publications/human_rights_magazine_home/human_rights_vol31_2004/winter2004/irr_hr_winter04_shoplifting.html

Yeah, but you are still pissed off about the last time so you are a bit biased. And yes Bill, I know the US has gassed many people before the Nazis. Not so sure it is something to be proud of. Killing people against their will is not humane, regardless of the method.

Apparently the British authorities couldn't find a judge to raid their offices tonight, so they are being raided first thing in the morning. Apparently Facebook staff have been in their offices all night. Wonder how quickly they can feed all their hard drives through shredders. -
You mean like a chamber they can be marched or rolled into and then gassed? Sounds very efficient. To increase efficiency, they could build just a few around the country and ship the condemned to them in trains.
-
It isn't about the $20 million. Federal court means Trump can pardon. This is a civil case, not a criminal case. I don't see how a pardon could even be involved. But I can see how it would be easier for the WH to lean on the judges. A civil case about a crime, the payment of money to cover up a crime, the forming of an LLC to cover up a crime or a lawyer committing crimes.

Iraq under Saddam H. had very high gun ownership. First things the Americans did, to help bring freedom to Iraq, was severely restrict gun ownership. Of course the American is far, far superior to Iraqi's so for them it works opposite. You need massive, unrestricted gun ownership to somehow have freedom.

Well, Trump started hitting on Melania at an event where he arrived with a different woman. That's how they first met. She was turned off by the circumstances. At first, anyway. Until the proper translation of billions got through to her at least.

This Republican politician believes teachers should not be armed. Because most of them are women..... http://www.al.com/news/index.ssf/2018/03/women_scare_of_guns.html

Give this a listen for a pretty decent and easy to follow explanation of what is at stake. https://openargs.com/oa154-stormy-daniels-is-a-legal-genius/

Now there are stories of threats of physical harm. 60 Minutes is going to be interesting on Sun.

And the right to bear arms is #2 right behind your right to free speech/expression. Must have thought it pretty important and foundational to the rest. At what number does "foundational" end?

I'm going to fire someone because they can't get daycare for their child
SkyDekker replied to DJL's topic in Speakers Corner
This. Procreation is (usually) a choice. Though I know DJL's employee is now separated -- in that case: child support. These life choices are just that: CHOICES. If you choose to create children, you should know with whom you are creating them. Know how much time/money/attention this will require, and for what duration. Of course, I know "things happen." External family emergencies, natural disasters, death/illness of one of the parents, etc. But those variables that are choices should be "owned" by those who make those choices. [/rant] Taking responsibility for and needing help with are not mutually exclusive. -
But the 2nd was written for the protection of a free state, not to defend your life and liberty. These days, the 2nd isn't going to protect you form a rogue state, and lots of innocent people are being robbed of their right to life and liberty due specifically to the 2nd amendment.

Why is the right to bear arms more important than the right to life and liberty?
