Usually I go over the top when I think the buzz is going to wear off and I drink to keep it going. Like: 3-4 shots of tequilla. Feeling really good. Hour or two goes by... worrying that the buzz is going. Do 3 more shots and I'm a ghost. Lately though I just drink sake. It's cheap and 30 proof is much easier to manage a buzz on than 80 proof.

This was funny.

I use Vonage. They send you a router that your phone plugs into and it sounds / works like normal. Been very happy with it.

Who are your favorite people to be around, and why?
MarkM replied to windcatcher's topic in The Bonfire
Pretty much my friends and family. I have few of each, but they like me for me, faults and all. -
I believe the USPA is supposed to get reports of these from DZs, but I don't know how reliably they're reported.

Any helicopter jumping in FLorida in November?
MarkM replied to Nemo's topic in Events & Places to Jump
The chopper jump during the Keys Boogie is pretty nice, if you don't mind the drive to Key Marathon. Last year the guy gave you a pretty nice flight around the Key, before dropping you off over the LZ. You'll need a C license to jump at the boogie, but you have the jumps to get that pretty easily. http://www.skydiveseb.com/faq-keysboogie.htm -
Don't we get the story that goes with this poll?

What time of day do you like best for skydiving?
MarkM replied to b_dog's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Afternoon. Cuz it's about when I wake up. -
Shouldn't that be "until the flat spin slows down"? My first serious flat spin didn't stop when I balled up and I burned up 4k waiting for it to happen. Of course, it didn't stop because I was doing something wrong when I balled up, but since then I've never waited for a flat spin to stop before going belly to recover. I just use it to slow down a little and I know of way more experienced flyers than me that do the same thing(slow down, flip and fly out of the spin). I was initially taught the spin would stop when I balled up and it scared the shit out of me when it didn't do that for me.

In their view humans are brutal animals that the universe is better without. But once they started to exterminate the human race they realized that they were becoming no better than humans. The problem is now they don't know what to do with the remaining survivors. The machines can't leave them alone, otherwise they'll breed up and rape the universe some more. So they have to protect humans against their own nature in some way. Pretty good story line.

Yeah, that doesn't sound much like you. A "grass is always greener" girl? I never got that impression. I got the boy next door result and I'm sort of curious how they arrived at that one too.

Do you still have the description for that one?

If you do level 1 AFF in the fall, you'll likely have to repeat it again come May, so just save up for the entire thing and do it in the spring. Also, do you live around Bloomington or in another part of the state? When I was jumping in NE Indiana back in 2000 everyone was doing SL which was much cheaper. You might consider saving up all your cash then shop around DZs for the summer. There may be a DZ closer to home that can get you in the air cheaper.

According to the medical reports on certain people falling out of planes 80 or so years ago, people would die of heart attacks long before hitting the ground, due to the trauma of freefall itself. So according to them, you don't need to worry about it.

Yeah, ZHills is the place to be for a wingsuiter. So much so that I plan to move so I can start jumping there full time.

9th Annual Keys Boogie - November 9-12
MarkM replied to xtremesportgirl's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Looks like 2 twin otters, a PAC and helicopter this year. Jump prices should be the same as what Skydive Seb are(21 or 22 bucks, helicopter is more). Need a C license and flotation gear. There will be some awesome flocks going on, so bring your wingsuit. -
They did a skydiving episode on Chips once two. Think they grabbed some chutes, went up, hopped out for their first jump(no ground school needed, of course) and did some points.
-
How much still air experience do you have? It sounded like you're mixing a very low skill experience(still air jumping) with a totally new experience(WS jumping), which isn't good.
-
Nice shots. Looks like you guys had some sweet clouds to play with too.
-
It's pretty easy to do, just don't pay enough attention when packing. Done one step through so far, no brake fires yet though.
-
It's gonna cost about as much as you want to spend. Millions if you want an otter, nice facilities, wind tunnel, etc etc to next to nothing if you know someone with a plane you can lease on the weekends and just want to take up fun jumpers who have their own gear. The first DZ I jumped at was a small operation, one 182, grass runway, small hanger in the middle of BFE, jumpmasters that were pretty much just really experienced skydivers, couple student rigs(no tandem rigs). But it was a really fun place.

Repack week old pack for night jump?
MarkM replied to jacketsdb23's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Not repack it. But I also fly cheap mains and don't worry much about losing them.
