  1. The basics of everything we are made of and just about touch was created in the universe by a star going supernova.(which was out of "state") Figured you had not covered all your asinine examples so I would group them all up into one for you. You don't view this as recreation, do you? Your loss; I do. Oh, and D-minus for missing context and subtlety.
  2. Then get the fuck out. We have standards here. ETA- Oh, gosh, I forgot the sarcasm icon. Champu, you know we all love you here.
  3. Al Capone: he died of the clap. -Sock puppet.
  4. That's the point right there. When electric cars can fully re-charge as quickly as liquid-fueled cars, and consistently have the same power and range, then they can look to fill the same niche. In the meantime, I'm hoarding dilithium. But I can't tell you why. Yet. Li2 is a lie, too. Yeah, right. Next thing you'll be telling us warp drive is impossible, too. Obviously you're in on it.
  5. I've been mulling both sides of the issue since yesterday afternoon before commenting. I understand the argument in favor of it, in very narrow circumstances. This is not solely "war-context rules of engagement", nor is it solely one of "probable cause and judicial due process"; nor is there a distinct line between the two; it's more of a "grey zone" that overlaps both. But on balance, I'll weigh in against it, because the range of permissible facts needed to trigger such action can potentially be so vague. We have to look at this long-term: quite simply, I think there's too much potential for future abuse over the long run, giving the US the excuse to declare its dissident citizens "enemies of the state" and trump-up justifications to summarily execute them offshore. (Or is "offshore" even required?) There are other countries that do this already, and we Westerners recoil in revulsion at it. As well we should; we "Western" nations are supposed to be better than that. This isn't what our World War II veterans suffered and died to preserve and protect. Let's not roll them in their graves.
  6. No, we live in a military-industrial compl.... Yeah.
  7. Jesus Christ, Marc. You've started FOUR SEPARATE NEW GUN THREADS in here in the space of just over an hour. That's just nuts.
  8. Oh, for fuck's sake. He told the guy who told him to STFU to STFU right back. There's tons of that in here, from everyone. Do you know how often Bill would have to keep typing "both of you cut it out" if he tried to regulate all of it? He has to make a living, spend time with his family and sleep, too. I swear, you guys all have KDS. Get lives already.

  10. I was around during the Vietnam war, and the draft. I've always felt that women should be equally subject to conscription. I now have 2 daughters of prime military age. No, I don't want my daughters to have to go in harm's way, but my daughters are no more precious than anyone else's son.
  11. ...showing that you know absolutely nothing about me, or my process. But I really don't care, as this ain't about me. And it's a lower-case "o". Jeez.
  12. No. The example of Ron Paul, M.D. is more like saying that a particular lawyer - after 3 years of law school, including a summer internship in the DA's office, and spending decades of practicing mostly family and commercial law, including decades of client contact and counseling, all the while being continuously exposed to other lawyers and law journal articles on all aspects of the law ..... would still have far more understanding of a criminal defendant's constitutional rights, and sensible-versus-stupid trial strategy, than a social worker who counsels clients at a battered women's crisis center, despite the fact that he doesn't specialize in criminal defense law. Ron Paul finished medical school in 1961, and did his time in the Air Force until 1968. He then worked as OBN/GYN until the end of the 70s when he turned to a legislative career. In contrast, the modern understanding of PTSD did not emerge until the 70s, and was not even formally recognized until 1980. So there's little reason to believe that he received much insight into it during his schooling or service in the Air Force. (particularly given his penchant for Ayn Rand) If I were a tenant in San Francisco having trouble with a landlord, given a choice of consulting with a constitutional scholar like Barack Obama (pre 2009, before his beliefs were corrupted by the White House), or a non degree adviser at the SF Rent Board, I'm taking the second guy. Not the guy who might have studied Chicago law decades ago out of personal interest when he was still renting At some point I have to simply say that you guys are just plain wrong on this. You're twiddling and twisting and massaging minutiae and endless analogies at the expense of the overall. I stand by my posts; and now I'm moving on.

    Failure

Bless you, Sock Puppet. Tell yer brother Erle that Andy sez "Hey".

Oh, for goodness sake. It's just a hybrid car; nobody's attacking your ancestry. Yes, of course they (and straight-electrics) will get more efficient with technology advancements. Just as soon as the oil companies allow it. Steve Jobs: Ours is better. Bill Gates: It doesn't matter.

    DZ sacrilege

    That much is obvious.
  16. Well, kinda makes sense really, since he and his company are pushing the main competition to the electric car. What you're suggesting cannot be. That would be unethical.
  17. By their own organisation. Which at the very least puts them alongside the majestic physical specimens who participate in sports such as darts, and snooker. I'm sure you'd do just fine skiing mile and then trying shoot a .22 It's athletic ability to hold a rifle up. Prone is even more demanding. He's not talking about a biathlon. It takes athletic ability to hold a cue. Behind your back is even more demanding.
  18. The guy opened up that's for sure. Got out his frustration. We have friends who son is back from Iraq and the mom is afraid she's going to die from this kid and the dad has guns in the house. Powder keg. Lesson to Presidents, all Presidents: deployments last forever for the people you send, and their families. Make damned sure it's worth it to the country, and not just to you. Cheney is laughing his ass off on that one. Like they care. They want the money. You're right. It should have been Lesson to all citizens: demand this of your government when it's itching to go to war.
  19. There's anti-gun stuff happening all over the country. In order to keep each one specific to its own particular actions, they need to be separate threads. If you threw them all together in one place, the discussion would get too muddled and no one would be able to keep track. Oh, we don't just have separate threads. We have separate fibers of threads. Perry would have known that right off. Our rights and liberties are under attack by the Democratic left who don't seem to care about rights. . Unfortunate you're blind in one eye.

  21. It sure is a mystery, Sock Puppet.
  22. Yet for some reason, a gun made entirely in one state and sold to a resident of that same state, still has to comply with federal laws even though there hasn't been any interstate commerce. Go figure. Ha. Was all of the metal smelted in the state? Was all of the iron ore and coal used in the smelting process mined in the state? Was all of the electricity powering the factory generated in the state? Did all of the fuel used to fuel the power plant come exclusively within the state? Hydroelectric power, you say? Were all of the headwaters of the river in the state? Were all of the shipping containers used to ship the product manufactured in-state? Were all of the raw material used in the shipping containers derived solely in-state? Did the gun manufacturer or vendors do their banking at banks with branches in other states? Are the banks insured by the FDIC? Are the gun mfgrs or vendors insured by insurance companies that operate in other states?

  24. Did you really need to fuck up this thread with more of this retarded pro gun anti gun bullshit. This thread had nothing to do with guns, it was about people behaving poorly. Agreed! People like that should be aborted. You know, with abortions.
