    FWIW, being a Senator, she has a state-wide constituency. And CA, just like, say, NY, has quite a number of pretty consrevative counties. She wasn't elected by the conservative counties. She will pander to her base, even though she is supposed to represent all of the voters in her state. You just described virtually every sitting US Senator at any given point in history.

    Well, it's not about me, but ok. I'm quite content to be called a liberal, to the extent it applies, but to issues where it does't apply, it's simply an innacurate label-of-convenience (read: lazy). I think "labels" are dumb to the extent they don't apply. I think it's idiotic and, frankly, creepy, the way the word "liberal" is used like a pejorative, as if the word is all one has to say. (I remember when "Communist" was used this way.) Anyhow, I'm liberal about some things, on the conservative side of moderate about other things, and generally moderate overall. Those who know me personally know this about me. We don't exist. if you are willing to entertain ANY measure to control access to guns for anyone whether convicted felon or not, that makes you a "gun-o-phobe" trampling on peoples rights apparently. ...and then in the very next conversation, where we say the exact same things, including a reasonable defense of 2nd Amendment rights, we're one of the "gun nuts". So basically, we're fooked.
