I would think you should be able to just do a refresh, and maybe a coached jump. But don't take my word for it I know nothing, give the dz a call and ask, can't hurt. __________________ BOOM Headshot

In the tub is just wrong, you are laying in it. In the shower, fine no worries. __________________ BOOM Headshot

Is it OK to fart loudly in a public restroom?
daniel_owen_uk replied to porterhouse's topic in The Bonfire
100% acceptable, no question. Its a toilet (i refuse to call it a bathroom, due to lack of a bath), where else is it ok to let rip? Although I think maybe proximity is an issue, if they are in the urinal next to you then it may be a little off. __________________ BOOM Headshot -
I think it's a little naive to think that ANY company makes decisions that aren't in part made on the basis of profit. __________________ BOOM Headshot

Personally I think you can try everything you like, my relaxation has come gradually with the more jumps I do. The more you jump the more familiar you will become with your surroundings and thus the more you are able to relax and slow things down. A couple of solos when you aren't forced to do anything, just get out and do what the hell you like (although obviously don't do something daft like tracking along the flight line), should help relax you, I know they did me. __________________ BOOM Headshot

Tunel, then RAPS, or should I do RAPS first?
daniel_owen_uk replied to bazelos's topic in Safety and Training
Not very experienced, but I can tell you what I did. 15 mins of tunnel time first then aff, the tunnel time was HUGELY helpful for me and a friend that I did AFF with. Not only that but its seriously good fun too -
I went to the US, it cost me less than £1800 with flights, hotels, travel insurance and car hire. Plus it was 25 degrees celcius all week :) With the value of hindsight I would have stayed on the dropzone. 17 jumps in a week you just aren't gonna get that in the UK. Save some money do it in the USA get video so you can show the CCI when you get back to UK. I did mine at skydive city in florida, they were great, can't recommend them enough, but I am sure there are lots of great place's in florida and california. __________________ BOOM Headshot

If you really want to commend them, they why not leave a review? That's what it's for and where most people will look when looking for new gear. __________________ BOOM Headshot

Nah...All orange jumpsuits--Northern Ireland. I wonder if he is ducking because NI is part of Britain? __________________ BOOM Headshot

Do you tell your employer that you do skydiving?
daniel_owen_uk replied to bastichu's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I told mine, actually they got me started, they sponsored me to do AFF1 (£500 to charity). Showed him video too, he just thinks I am crazy. In the UK we have a health service very different to the USA, so if I break my leg I don't need health insurance it's paid for via your taxes that every working person pays. All that said I have been there a while and my job is very safe. Doubt I would have said anything if I had only just started. __________________ BOOM Headshot -

"Check in! Check out! Ready, set..."
daniel_owen_uk replied to mattyblast's topic in Safety and Training
Have done AFF1 twice (because of currency not cause I suck ). Did it at two places Hib in Uk and Zhills in Florida. Hib taugh; Check In "OK" Check Out "OK" Up Down Arch Zhills taugh; Check In "OK" Check Out "OK" Out In Arch All actions were clear and done with nods (at both DZs) as you probably aware, "Ready Set Go" sound very much like "I don't want to Go" Only reason for difference was because of door size on plane (was sat at hib). __________________ BOOM Headshot -
This is why I stay off DZ.com while at work

Contacts or glasses to jump?
daniel_owen_uk replied to virginflyer3's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I wear contacts, don't find them too bad, my only concern is loosing them, not because they are expensive to replace (because they aren't), just that I really can't see a thing without them. Lost one at about 9000 feet on one jump (goggles were too loose), not till then did I realise that if I lost both I wouldn't be able to find where to land. Since then I have purchased some sorz goggles and keep them tight, not had problem in freefall or in the tunnel. __________________ BOOM Headshot -

Been down for about a week now Anyone have any clues on when it will be back? __________________ BOOM Headshot

Whilst not an instructor (duh jump number), I have done AFF in the USA and am now back in Britain. It will vary depending on the dropzone and CCI that you see, but find out what AFF program they use, and make sure that you cover everything whilst in Deland (of course as well as what they cover in Delands AFF program). One difference between the US and UK AFF if level 8 (basically just a a hop n pop from 5k). Get as much video as you can and keep your log book up to date. Then just call the CCI before you visit, let them know you are coming and have a quick sit down (try on a weekday less busy) show video and stuff. Sort you BPA membership out, and get jumping

Loss of limbs, or loss of movement of limbs. I am a pretty active person and to not be that person anymore would just destroy me. __________________ BOOM Headshot
