  1. I have my reasons for not wanting to vote for her but I have to ask her detractors, what IS the biggest beef with Hillary? She's a cold hearted bitch? She's weak because she showed emotion? Her cleavage? Her laugh? The way she dresses? Her smile? It's just fun to hate her because it's become a habit? Or maybe it's her proposed policies? Nah, I rarely hear any bitching about that last one. Too issue oriented I guess.
  2. Just an observation dude. Overly simplistic yes, but well supported by posts in this forum.
  3. Nope, smaller group. Specifically I'm referring to Ansar al-islam.
  4. Overly simplistic observation: Libs prefer to use tax money and debt to employ people in education and science, foster learning, cultural awareness and increase humanity's knowledge base. Cons prefer to use tax money and massive debt to employ people in the military industrial complex, kill, extort and repress in an effort to perpetuate the very profitable cycle.
  5. Yes. Thank you for proving my earlier point Oh no! Not more colons and parentheses!
  6. Different Kurds. The ones that the Kurdish national forces were fighting against.
  7. So, basically it looks like we're talking about a conflict of displaced aggression, manifested by displaced aggression and based on a war of displaced aggression. That about sum it up?
  8. Let me guess. They were stacked like cordwood, up there in Afghanistan, just waiting for a phone call. Damn you're good. Very close. But, they weren't stacked up like wood. Al Qaeda in Iraq was started by a Jordanian, who fought and trained in Afghanistan. After we invaded he went to Iraq and joined up with with Kurdish militants, foreign fighters, and the Sunni Iraqi insurgency, swearing allegiance to bin Laden in 2004.
  9. Hey, I know you'll get a kick out of this. Since I haven't had much luck at getting "conservatives" to reply to me telling me what they are all about, I decided to do some research. Where better than to go to an encyclopedia of conservatism right? Well here you go. Click on the link, check the bar on the left, click on "statistics" and look at the "mostly viewed pages". http://www.conservapedia.com I think I know what they're most interested in
  10. Now HERE'S an example of judicial activism He should have been kicked off the bench a long time ago.
  11. I agree, there's not. And that's why I can't stand hearing people complain about how much of a "lib" McCain is. They're all part of the business party. And talking to the other side of a 51:49 split is the responsible thing to do. Pretending that the 1% is a "mandate" for radical views does (did) nothing but hurt the country as a whole.
  12. What, my car is still in the lot here at work. What are you smokin? Tip: A wide screen TV doesn't mean you're getting the big picture.
  13. Actually, no it doesn't. That's why I didn't vote Republican today. Ideology replaced their issues and it hurt much more than their party. So I'll ask you too. What are the key issues that Republicans, or "conservatives" if you prefer, are interested in? As I see it, the planks in the traditional platform have been ripped up, except for tax cuts. The ones I see being put in their place are nation building, a gay marriage amendment, corporate welfare, and xenophobia.
  14. Here's your answer -- Kerry, Soros, Hispanics, NEW YORK TIMES!!! That should shut you up -- McCain is a liberal! Oooooo....such anger. That can't be healthy. So tell me, what defines a "conservative" these days? By today's standards it seems that Gingrich and Buchanan are "libs" too. How are you going to vote for one if you can't tell me what one is?
  15. I just gave this a another look. It is indeed great news. We're winning the battle against a group of evil doers who weren't around until after we invaded Iraq. So, as usual, we cultivate the problem (be it Noreiga, Saddam, al Qaeda in Iraq, maybe Musharraff next) then we knock them down at the expense of thousands of lives and billions of taxpayer dollars. SUCCESS!! WE WIN!! You pro-war people have a strange way of celebrating. "Hey, sure, I stole and wrecked your car but just look at the new pretty paint job I gave you. I'm sorry you're not happy. You must hate beauty."
  16. Indeed. Like Social Security. Medicaid. Medicare. Drug laws. Gun control. And yet we not only keep pumping more and more money into these laws, but we actually have people saying we should be pumping MORE money into them... Hey, he is in favor of all the programs you mentioned You forgot: "War on terror" and "Farm Bill" to name but two more.
  17. That's what I'd like to know. Apparently if you're not a supporter of a large, authoritarian government, spying on your own people, deficit spending on corporate welfare, torture, nation building, building an expensive and ineffective fence around Jesusland and the propagation of a holy war, you're not "conservative" enough. Again, McCain is doing a good job of illustrating how "out of the mainstream" Bush and his apologists are.
  18. (musings) What I've found to be very interesting is that McCain's popularity seems to be doing a pretty good job of illustrating that the party had been hijacked by a very vocal fringe element, one that seems to be losing it's influence (Thank God). McCain realizes that in a country that has split 50:50 that an effective leader works in the middle. I appreciate that much more than those who think that 1% establishes a "mandate". I would be very interested to know who he would like to have as VP. That office now has much more power than it once did and McCain's no spring chicken. Also, IMO I think that an Obama/Edwards ticket would be pretty strong for the Dems. (/musings)
  19. I hadn't heard about any of this sort of talk. But regardless of validity, I have this really disgusting image in my head of gimp Rush in the Pulp Fiction scene. That's going to take all day, a pair of pliers and blowtorch to get that out of my head! Maybe I'll go watch something more pleasant, like that cow torturing video in the other thread.
  20. Agreed, but there are other reasons to shop around for your meat source. I remember reading that after the BSE issue that they banned feeding cow parts to cows. But what they didn't ban was feeding cow parts to chickens and then sweeping up the poultry room floor (including cow parts and chicken crap) and feeding it to cows. One of many examples of this species shitting where it eats. And we're supposedly the highly developed critters?
  21. No kidding? Wow. Quite a performance. Hmmm....I'll bet he was serious at first then the network called and told him that Ruth's Chris Steakhouse was canceling their contract. That'll restore him to his values
  22. Very sad. Doesn't sound like mom was that great either. "He took care of them most of the time, those girls. He was attached to them. When the mother goes somewhere (to) party he used to keep them," Kids deserve better.
  23. Doesn't sound like much has changed since the BSE outbreak. I guess if you force them to stand for a few seconds then they're not considered "downed". More reading if you're interested. "She learned about cattle slaughter plants where cattle were hoisted upside down, the lower part of their legs snipped off, their thighs and bellies cut open, and their skin stripped from their legs up to their necks, all while the animals were still conscious." http://www.orionmagazine.org/index.php/articles/article/144/
  24. Two things come to mind. First, this sounds like the "we're not as bad as Saddam" defense. And secondly, a question, would it be torture if it were done to our soldiers? IMHO, Mukasey won't admit what he thinks, that it is indeed torture. But his boss has been responsible for it being done already and he feels that he has to try to protect him.
