  1. It's the same God. The the argument is over which of Abraham's children is the favorite.
  2. You can crazy emote if it makes you feel better but inflating your tires to near the upper limit, getting a tune up and slowing down are three proven ways to reduce your fuel consumption. It uses current technology and will have an immediate impact on gasoline reserves. And he never claimed that it would "fix" our energy problem. It will help. And it's a much more effective way of getting money in your pocket than simply opening up more leases so that the oil companies can warehouse them. So yes, his proposal is smarter and more honest.
  3. I'll beg to differ on on the first part of the comment. He's proven the former, has yet to prove the latter (although his energy comments ring with more honesty than most).
  4. I didnt recall anybody here saying that drilling for oil will solve all of our problems. Most have said that it is only a short term fix. We should also be finding better alternative fuels. That liberal BS about 4-8 years for new oil drilling to help us is complete BS. The average oil well takes about a year after fun ding to be in production. That is if it does not have to fracked or re drilled. I invest in oil wells and have seen the entire proses and time line. That is just a liberal cop out. Why dont you just say you are anti war. That is a BS comment. Nobody has said that sending a man to war is "suporting him". That is a typical liberal twist! We dont send people to war to DIE. I case you have not notice our military is completely volitary! After 9/11 we had record people joining the military. And still have people joining that beleive in what we are fighting for. Not everbody flip flops! Hey Randy, my first instinct is to reply in an effort to counter your post, but screw that tonight. WAY TO GO WITH THE SPELLING AND SENTENCE STRUCTURE!!! Not perfect but damn, what an improvement!! This is SO much easier to read. Let's discuss!
  5. Unfortunately, he was insane. Well, fortunate for the country - EDS is not an example of a well run corp. Didn't GM buy EDS a long time ago?
  6. Hardly, my assertion that they suck less does not mean that I approve of the job, just the trend. They should be trying harder to wrestle back the power given to the executive branch by demanding more accountability. But to their credit they are ruling like they have a simple majority. But not to count out the R's contributions. Without their successful obstructionism, as evidenced by about 73 filibusters, the approval rating would probably be higher. But again, let's not stray too far from the thread
  7. Hey, they work one more day a week than the 109th yet they cut back on earmarks (a little). Not a bad start. But let's try not to stray from the reality that the song and dance going on is just for show.
  8. I checked with Billvon to see what he'd say and the response you're looking for is: "I blame the US media and the dems "
  9. It's lousy politics, but no more so that those that McCain employed to steer the contract to EADS.
  10. Ouch! While bumbling around on this topic I came across this tidbit. Bush must really be unpopular these days. First Cheney's not invited to the RNC Convention and now "Beijing George" gets a tongue lashing from his own party. From Republican House Policy Committee Chairman Thaddeus McCotter's memo: "Today, in his final term, the wildly unpopular President George W. Bush boarded Air Force One bound for the Beijing Olympics and a meeting with his chum Hu Jintao, the dapper ruler of a nuclear armed, communist dictatorship. ... Perhaps our Compassionate Conservative-in-Chief will bring our absent Democrat Congress some 'Made in (communist) China' souvenir t-shirts: 'Bush went to Beijing and all I got was this lousy five week, paid vacation.' 11. It's a political stunt which amounts to nothing more than theater during an election season. When asked by the Republican leadership to reconvene Congress the White House responded with: “We don’t have plans to call Congress into session — it won’t make a difference if Democratic leaders are unwilling to bring up a bill for an up-down vote,” Weeks ago the White House said: PERINO: So the important thing that we need to do is…find ways that we can continue to express to the American people not to expect a short-term response. There’s not going to be a short-term response. And it would be irresponsible for anybody to suggest there would be. Over a month ago the very same people who are putting on the theater voted against "Use it or Lose it" act which would have forced the oil companies to either use the 68 million acres of leases that they already hold or give them up to development by another company. Drilling on those 68 million acres is "drilling here, drilling now". The oil companies and the pro-oil folks in the White House and Congress (like Roy Blunt who received $100,000 from the oil industry over the last year) are doing nothing but promoting the warehousing, not development of oil leases.
  12. con·ser·va·tion [ kònssr váysh'n ] noun Definition: 1. protection of valued resources: the preservation, management, and care of natural and cultural resources 2. protection from change: the keeping or protecting of something from change, loss, or damage It's true, speculators are bailing. But gasoline consumption is down 2-4% and that alone is enough to lower prices rapidly. Just think what might happen if everyone inflated their tires properly
  13. Now this would be where I disagree most. Why do you have to choose? Why would God not approve of his/her/its creation using its God given highly developed brain to explore the vast intricacies of God's creations? It seems odd that a powerful God would prefer that a marvelous creation should ignore its cognitive capabilities and instead, walk around beating itself in the head with a book and chanting, never questioning, only faithfully repeating verse and vowing loyalty and commitment.
  14. I think that's a great idea. It would be especially applicable here in SC But while we're waiting for the application to go through, in the event that you need the spider monkey to Right Whale testicle conversion factor, this is the site for you. Have fun! http://www.weirdconverter.com/weight.php
  15. I've got some issues with Unions but I keep hearing them being blamed recently. In the early 80's the average CEO pay was about 40 times that of the average worker. Now it's closer to 400 times. I wonder how much more a company could produce if they could add 400 more workers without changing payroll. (an over simplification but you get the idea).
  16. From a free market standpoint, why should they get a dime? From an energy policy and national security standpoint wouldn't it make more sense to divert those subsidies towards developing new alternatives? Also, lets not forget that in addition to a government that helps perpetuate a petroleum based lifestyle but the oil industry also has the world's largest military helping to insure that they have access to their products.
  17. Doesn't everybody want to be one? Seems like everyone wants to create one. "Kilopounds" is one of my favorites.
  18. The minor difference between the two factions of the "business" party is primarily where our Treasury's largesse flows. It's wealth redistribution but some wish it to flow to towards the few (with a cut for the legislators) and some wish it to flow to the many (with a cut for the legislators). Also, one side wishes to pay for it, the other thinks that borrowing for it is preferred. Now those are a few of the basic differences but we don't talk openly about those. We (apparently) prefer to deflect the debate towards meaningless and inflammatory diatribe which is perpetuated by the media in order to realize the potential profitability. It's all about money, there's little honesty involved.
  19. Seems to me that the story validates Darwin's theory, regardless of whether or not people think monkeys and humans are related.
  20. What's the "other side" of this particular story?
  21. These folks came up with $32.9 billion over 5 years.
  22. Maybe that's why they drag their feet like they do on demanding higher CAFE standards.
