Thank you, Bonnie. I purchased a PD yesterday. My apologies for not giving you guys the opportunity to bid. I went to your web site this morning to place in my "Favorites" for future reference and it would appear there is a problem with your site's security certificate. The name on the security certificate is either invalid or does not match the name of the site. I'll just send this directly to your webmaster.

what's the lowest you've ever exited?
nightjumps replied to panzwami's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
No. No one lowered their rucks. During the debrief, we discussed this. We surmised that the lack of injuries was because we weren't ready for the landing and were relaxed. You know how the night jumps went. Did all your chaecks and then started tightening up. Tightened more after lowering the ruck and hearing the first thunk. That was about the only conclusion we could come to was every one was relaxed, we hit on the side of an embankment and hadn't started the night jump internal tension knot. The Major hit feet first and was off balance and fell "up" the embankment so he had two points of contact - feet; head. One of those jumps where everything that could go wrong did and we were lucky to have a positive outcome. Amazing. Some jumps where everything was perfect and busted legs. Made a night jump at Ft. Bliss Old Coe DZ. No wind, full moon, in the desert, ground could be seen from the aircraft. Three busted legs outta three A Teams. Go figure. -
You are correct about ISO 9001. It is a certification of the manufacturing process, not the specific testing. I think I have my answer folks: I'm going with PD. Thanks for all your input. [END OF THREAD]

Pack volume for a Wings container built to house a 249 Dash M is closer to the PDr 193 in pack volume than the PDr 218.

Riggers: I need your opinion. I've decided to get a new reserve. I've done homework on both. PD: 193r Max W/L 254 Long-time company history. Aerodyne: Smart 220 Max W/L 264, ISO 9001 Certified. They say tested above, but don't give the specifics of the testing. Your vote and thoughts would be appreciated.

What AggieDave said with one additional question - Have you compared your slider size with similar sqft S2 canopies? If yours is larger and your weight loading less, that can be a contributing factor.

That is correct. The odds on each skydive is 1:66,666. To think that each skydive increases your odds is referred to as, "Gambler's Fallacy." Same as with the lottery. Those folks who play the same numbers each week in the hopes that "sooner or later" these numbers will hit since they haven't hit before. The odds for those numbers are the exact same as any other number for the week. So, statistically speaking, your odds of dying on a skydive are the same as going to Vegas, laying down a dollar and winning $66,666. From my experience in Vegas, Each dollar I lay down winds up with a greater probability that I walk away with less money than I do when I get there.

Should Drug Convictions be a Bar to Student Loans?
nightjumps replied to lawrocket's topic in The Bonfire
You give me reason to ponder. Drugs are a serious issue. I'm on my way to a funeral in about an hour. Good friend's 15 y/o daughter was found dead New Year's day - drug related. We need to do something, but I'm not sure if removing the opportunity for change is an answer. I'm not sure if it should be one offense or two or three. I agree with the mention of student loans being revoked if drugs are used/distributed while on a student loan. I did not vote for fear of emotional bias. But, it is something to think about. Edited to add: How come we can free three nations from oppression over ten years, but we can't free our children in the war on drugs? -

As stated up the thread a little bit, I changed the new version to include two kill-line cock checkpoints on the new version which is too large to upload (>60kb). One cock point prior to putting it in the bag, another after the first two stows are made. The checklist is available to anyone who emails me for a copy and they are free to massage it for their own training standards. My training technique is a little different than most in the following way: 1. I have the students learning to pack place the left and right line groups on those respective shoulders(left group on left shoulder; right group on right shoulder; slider behind head). 2. Then start with the “D” lines and work their way up to the “A”. In my opinion and experience, this helps the student visualize the line groups to center cell and "S" folds out better until they learn to migrate both line groups to one shoulder.

Thanks, Phil. The one I have is new so it should get me through the next couple of seasons.

When you started this thread; your statement was, And the majority of responses have suggested you consider holding back for awhile before purchasing a new canopy. To virtually every response, you have responded with an objection or clarification or additional reasons why you should buy the smaller canopy. At every physical DZ and I guess now at the virtual DZ, there's always someone who asks for opinions about what they want to do. When they don't like the answer they get, they go around to everyone until they get the answer they want. When they don't get the answer they want from anyone, they re-position their query and start all over again. The last thing you posted said you would talk with your Instructors. That's the best thing you can do. They should be the ones assisting you. Good luck in your decision-making process.

Please stay at < 1.0 for awhile.

Most DZ's will act as a middleman. We do. You send it to us and we hold the money. No charge. You/Rigger inspect. You like, we send the check. You no like, we send it back. One caveat. You jump it, you burn it, you've bought it.

Relax. You're too tense. Keep your nose pointed on an object on the horizon. Sounds like performance anxiety to me. Being to fixated on what you did in the past causing it to happen again. Relax.
