  1. Installing firewall good. I had the same thing happen as him post firewall... drove me nuts for two days. With many hours invested, I finally figured out that the popup I had "X'd" out, really had code behind it to rewrite my registry and redirect my IE browser. Evidently, (means correct me if I'm wrong), but if you configure your firewall to block, but you initiate the out (in this case X'ing out the popup)... then the firewall assumes you intended to go to that site?
  2. Lookup StevePhelps in the member directory and PM or email him. He's a Graphics/Artist guy (does websites, cartoons, rides Harley's, very creative in the art department). He re-painted my first nVertigo and put a really cool Aztec design on it. He'll help.
  3. What they've done is rewrote your registry so that when you spawn IE, it redirects you to their website. You can even change the default webpage and it will rewrite the registry again when the computer boots up. There is a freeware called "HijackThis" which I've had a lot of success with including catching a trojan horse virus. You ask it to do a scan on your computer and it brings up a bunch of lines. You "check" each one and ask it for info on it. It will tell you what it is and how its used for hijacking your default pages etc. Once you've read the info on it, you can select the "fix" button and it will correct and/or delete it. http://mjc1.com/mirror/hjt/ One word of caution, it "can" misinterpret some .dlls that may be essential so if you're unsure, you can cut/copy/past the readout, then go to; http://forums.techguy.org/ and ask them if its ok to delete this line. They're very helpful. edited to add: If your computer restore points are enabled, you "may" want to disable it. If you do a restore it can actually reload the bad stuff... but I'll let Ivan address this point. (I took mine off and just do important file backups nightly.)
  4. What I fear most are student incidents.
  5. Here are some things one should look at every 30 days while doing Pre-Op Maintenance on their rigs... (1) Surface abrasion across the face of the webbing and at the webbing loops; (2) Abrasion at the edges of the webbing; (3) Cuts to the webbing or stitching, particularly at the edges (4) Chemical or other solutions which can result in local weakening and softening - often indicated by flaking of the surface. Webbing may have change of color; (5) Heat or friction damage indicated by fibers with a glazed appearance which may feel harder than surrounding fibers; (6) Damaged or deformed fittings (e.g. hip rings, connectors); (7) UV-degradation which is difficult to identify, particularly visually, but there may be some loss of color (if dyed) and a powdery surface; (8) Partially unraveled stitching (e.g. short pull-out of tear webbing); (9) Contamination (e.g. with dirt, grit, sand etc.) which may result in internal or external abrasion.
  6. Not a good plan for two reasons; 1) in an area that would attract & keep dirt which is an abrasive, 2) increase chance of mold & mildew = fabric deterioration. Clean & dry.

    Adkins Diet

I really can't comment on the Atkins thing. I know folks who've been succesful and then they walk by a carb and inflate. I have my own little diet plan... The "Bigun" diet.... if you put something in your mouth and it tastes really good... spit it out.
  8. I'd rather have one and not need it, than not have one and need it.
  9. Whether you agree or disagree, ya gotta love the creativity.
  10. I think you should submit this to the dz.com safety discussion group for posting in the safety section as an article.
  11. In addition, there was a time a time when one had to have three years in the sport prior to attending the AFF Course. Now, one can literally go from FJC to AFF in six months. Not likely, but the opportunity is there. Personally, I liked the three year statute... I'm one of those that believes "seasoning" still counts for something.
  12. I have an SCR Silver medallion that I wear... that gets the sect/cult comments.
  13. Monkey strength or getting to haul the 120# LBFM.... hmmm lemmee see, which would I choose?
  14. Hey, hey, hey... only one of them with that handle around these here parts, Cowboy.
  15. You can do it with MS Access on your website or a standard html form that converts to .txt which you can then suck the data in to an excel spreadsheet. You can create an excel spreadsheet on your website as an object.... There's really a multitude of ways to do it... If you're looking for someone to do it for you...there's more than one IT guy on here in need of some cash.
  16. This entire thread may appear to be taking shots at you, Brick. But, that's not what it is. I have "some" experience with the MT-1X including finding components, packing them, etc. The common theme you keep hearing about finding a rigger who has experience in this area is going to be somewhat challenging, albeit necessary. Putting together a demilitarized rig with civilian components that are significantly smaller than the pack tray volume for the original container "could" wind up costing you more than you saved. In addition, the questions, comments and concerns expressed in the thread are in the hopes that you don't find some rigger who's bravado to accomplish; is greater than your ass. Cause, its your ass on the line. You have a runny nose, you go to a runny nose Doctor and you go cheap. You need brain surgery, you try to find the best and don't care what it costs. You need the brain surgeon here, my man. This ain't no "reserve" repacker rigger job. I would encourage you to get hooknswoop, riggerrob or mjosparky to get you pointed to the right person in your area to assist and if there's not one locally, you need to send it to one of them. Just looking out for you, Bro.
  17. OK. I'll bite. Why put those canopies in an MT-1X when you can get a Dolphin D-7 and slip them right in?
  18. Just as important as what billvon says is... he's gonna need a really large reserve...r-max 288 or PDR 281.
  19. $30.00 for DZ gear if the DZ packers pack it. $40.00 for DZ gear if the TI packs it. $60.00 for Instructor-owned gear if the DZ packers pack it. $70.00 for Instructor-owned gear if they pack it.
