  1. Thanks John, That's the info I was looking for. Much appreciated. Keith
  2. I started out flat-packing Icarus Tandems, then went to PRO-packing them a few times. Quite frankly, I just didn't feel like I could maintain the line order & line tension as well as a flat pack, so went back to flat packing.

  4. On AggieDave's comment, yeah... 7-7,500 would probably be better. And you and I would seriously be testing the outter limits. Maybe we could get a job testing Tandems systems. You're right that is in the V2 Manual. I have a video out at the DZ (Sorry, I don't remember its name off the top of my head, but I'm pretty sure its a Strong video). "IF" I remember correctly, he recommended 5,000 and demonstrates pulling the drogue release and pitching it, then leaving and throwing out the drogue to act as a PC. At 7,500, he recommends full drogue deployment and then drogue release. Don't hold me to those numbers, I'm trying to remember off the video. I appreciate the input and am receptive to more info from those with more Tandems than me. Keith
  5. I've been thinking about doing a practice emergency dive (182) with an experienced skdiver and video guy. 5,000'. No practice. 5,000' - pilot calls engine out and throttles back. The only criteria I would have prior is the door cannot be opened till I say, "Door" (student hooked up). Video guy bails, student does the waddle waddle while I'm hooking up the rest, get to the door, pull the student drogue release & pitch it to the back of the A/C, climbout, exit, pitch the drogue (now P/C) and wait for the long slow opening watching it the whole time. Kinda like in the video. Anyone done this? Your thoughts?
  6. Erk, If you would share your findings here, it would be greatly appreciated. I "believe" the first link in my thread is available as shareware on a time out basis. I've come across this issue a couple of times on a small network and always developed workarounds.
  7. Having owned seven Harley's, I was with ya until my latest toy... A Suzuki 1500 Intruder with Vance/Hines pipes http://www.suzuki-bikes.com/intruderlc1500.php http://www.vanceandhines.com/hardp.html One of my long-time Harley riding skydiving buddies came over the night I bought it, took it for a ride, came back and said, "I want it. Its my colors." I replied, "Well, can I at least ride it for the weekend?!?!?" He bought it, parked his harley in the hanger and is in love. Now I'm needing to go shopping again. I'm thinking same thing except silver. I may die broke, but between bikes and skydiving, its gonna be a helluva life!!!
  8. The steps above are for those on an exchange server. For a small P2P, one may wish to consider the following link. I've never deployed it, so cannot attest to its functionality, reliability or ease of deployment. Perhaps someone else has some experience with it? edited to add: A hundred bucks. http://www.softpicks.net/software/Public-OutLook-2749.htm Here's another that runs about $100.00 per client. http://www.outlookstore.com/index.html
  9. Good bike, good ride, good price, reliable as hell. Great kick-back cruisin bike with just enough shit-to-git when you need it.
  10. On the surface perhaps... But the ride is a 20 valve V10, 8,277 cc, fuel injected, 500 hp, 525 lb torque, 0-60 mph in 2.5 second with a top end of 300 mph+!!! That to me; my friend is - sexy.
  11. That ain't sexy.... This is SEXY: http://www.dodge.com/tomahawk/flash.html
  12. In our region, Tandems run between $150.00 - $200.00. AFF starts at $250.00-$300.00 for the first jump course, gear and your first jump. After that is a declining scale (varies by DZ) as you progress through the categories. Add $50.00-$100.00 if you want a video of your skydive. Both Skydive Dallas and Skydive Hinton have pricing schedules posted on their websites.
  13. I totally agree with Dave's comments: In addition, you should know that if you decide to do this first, it counts towards your license.
  14. Hi Nathan, Welcome to the forums and deciding to try skydiving. Regarding instructional methodology and location: 1. If you "think" your goal is to become a skydiver, your two best options for learning are the Accelerated Freefall Program (an eight jump program where you wear a rig yourself beginning with jump one) or the Advanced Freefall Program (starting out with three tandems in which each progresses in complexity until your fourth jump where you begin wearing your own rig). I "believe" we're the only one's in Oklahoma offering the AFP (Tandem) program. 2. Based on your location, you are closer to Skydive Hinton or Skydive Dallas. If you would like to investigate an Oklahoma DZ, I recommend you contact Kris Martinez (Kris on DZ.com) who jumps at Skydive Hinton. I know some of the staff there (Marcus, Jeff & Annika) have all jumped with me and they are excellent folks. Skydive Dallas is about 45 minutes from you and they offer one of the largest training facilities in a 250 mile area. Their staff is not only top notch, but some of them are personal friends. I would love to have you come to Tulsa to train, but I think the drive would be overly excessive when you have excellent DZ's closer to you. I would encourage you to pursue AFF and either facility would provide excellent training. Good luck and feel free to contact me if I can be of additional help. Keith
  15. Is he calling me gay? Your friend needs to be introduced to a shot called a "Buttery Nipple."
  16. Congratulations!! Now, as your being a Financial Analyst; divide your total income by 50% and put it in the DZ account.
  17. I admit to being one of those who "learned" the 45 degree rule back in the early 80's. It was meant as a measure for validating the seconds of separation, not as the primary factor. For example, you're the first load of the day... assume its "X" number of seconds based on the winds aloft forecast and "assumed" ground speed. It was taught as count to "X" seconds (for separation) AND make sure the previous group is at least 45 degrees from the plane. Bottom line - about two years ago, I downloaded and played with Kallend's model for a few hours over a period of days and the 45 degree method just doesn't work. Not as a primary, nor even "validating" method.
  18. Did you mean "pecker" order?
  19. We believe the tensile strength of the Type III tape will not change by adding a bar-tack. Type I tape is the standard.
  20. ? I'm picturing a de-arch - please expand.
  21. She can choose not to bring her grades up and continue down her current path. What makes this country great is the, "Freedom to Choose." The "Freedom to Choose;" is the freedom to choose unwisely.
