Price breakdown from then until now
johnhking1 replied to SCS422's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
When I started jumping in 1973, AV gas was 60 cents a gallon, car gas was 30 cents. A 1950's C-182 jump plane cost about $9000 - $10,000. Jumps were $5.00 to 7500 ft, $8.00 to 10,000 ft. New Mini System $250. I paid $125 for a B4 container with a 7TU main and $50 for a 24 ft chest reserve, $15 for a double zipper jump suit. I was making $1.95 an hour. I bought a new ParaPlane cloud in 1974 for $575. In 1977, a skydiver friend and I bought a 1947 Stinson Voyager airplane for $3500. After I opened my DZ, I got a raise, I was making $2.00 an hour. -
I was thinking, If Trump wins the election, Biden could resign, Harris would be president for a couple months. That would be historic, the first woman to be president. She could appoint Biden vice president making him the only person to serve as vice president under two different presidents which would also be historic.

The companies who make posters, banners and bumper stickers will replace Biden with Harris and make $$$.
-
Maybe the title of this thread should be "Who will replace Harris".

I have seen youtube videos of a number of her speeches. She needs extensive training in public speaking. She also needs work on eliminating her nervous laugh. I don't know if she is a moron, a genius or in between, she currently doesn't present herself very well.

I just read an article that the earths rotation is slowing due to the glaciers melting and the water being distributed around the globe., Sorry, I don't have a link to the article.

Every time I see DEI, all I can think of is Dale Earnhardt Inc. They are giving him a worse reputation than Teresa.

I watched the "Press Conference" last night. I noticed that there were teleprompters, Biden reading the reporters names and calling on them, the reporters were reading their questions and Biden was looking down a lot. Was this a real press conference or was it staged to look like one.

I am not saying she should be fired but may be out of a job come November.
-
I wish one of the reporters at the Whitehouse briefing would ask Karine Jean-Pierre if she has sent out any resumes.

The President doth protest too much, methinks"

The presidential debate and Biden interview has certainly generated a lot of coverage by the press and commentary. If it starts to fade, the next public appearance by Biden will result in a boost of coverage. It looks like it will be a hot topic right up to the election. Stay tuned.

Maybe people from Las Vegas go to Hell for vacation, it may be cooler.

Obama may not to pass up a fourth term.

Biden said that he was in good shape but then quipped, "It's just my brain." Sometimes there is more to a joke.
-
Didn't Trump call him "Sleepy Joe".
-
I don't know how they are going to convince Biden to drop out or how they are going to force him out. Considering his performance at the debate, he has almost 7 months left in his term. What will he be like then. If I were to make a bet, I would bet he is on the ballot in November.
-
There is a lot more to age than numbers. If you look at Biden now, if he wins, what will he be like in 7 months when the his next term begins. It is time to take the keys away from grandpa.

The number of aircraft movements, take offs and landings, can go a long way toward receiving airport grants. Who does a lot of take offs and landings, skydiving operations. Airports get the money and want to get rid of skydivers.

That reminds me of "Cadillac Smith" from Big Flats, NY. He had a sign on the car stating thank you Security of agriculture and USDA, this car purchased with money paid for not growing corn. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_T._Smith He was born on January 25, 1916, in Corning, Steuben County, New York. He attended the public schools in Big Flats, and Corning Free Academy. He graduated from the New York State College of Agriculture, Cornell University in 1938.[1] Afterwards he farmed in Big Flats. In 1961, he bought a Cadillac for $6,100 using money he gained from farm subsidies, which were intended to prop up crop prices by paying farmers not to grow crops.[2] Smith, a fourth-generation farmer, drove the Cadillac around the district as a campaign prop demonstrating the largesse of the federal government's entitlement programs, and the next year managed to win the Republican primary in the 49th District, defeating the incumbent State Senator Harold A. Jerry, Jr. Afterwards he was nicknamed sometimes as Bill "Cadillac" Smith. He was a member of the New York State Senate from 1963 to 1986, sitting in the 174th, 175th, 176th, 177th, 178th, 179th, 180th, 181st, 182nd, 183rd, 184th, 185th and 186th New York State Legislatures.
