    I will never walk down range when anyone is firing, nor will I cause anyone to worry about me even touching a weapon while they are downrange. It is VERBOTEN. Well unless it is agreed upon for training purposes, all participants are known, and well trained. And that is a rarity.

    I have. Our annual shootfest. Didn't have to work on it and don't know what the ammo was but it penetrated 1/8" steel plate at 100' I have a shotgun that can make 1/2" holes in plates like that at 100yds.(copper slugs) 1/8" steel is no barrier. Neither is 1/2" steel for quite a few cartridges. Steel plates are barriers for pistol cartridges. Usually you will not find a range that allows rifle cartridges to be shot at steel plates. It ruins them, unless shot from a loooong range.

    Amen, what did you say?...my ears are ringing. Oh well I did not get to use earplugs on a few occasions, but maybe I should have. We wore them in training, but not in the field. Things are different now, there are great hearing protection devices out that allow you to hear far more than without earplugs. Ask any Veteran about that. I would say ask Dan, but he may have to see your lips moving before he realizes you are speaking

    besides you can pick up a cheap AK with a shitty bbl, and replace the bbl with a decent one, and wind up with a rifle that does not have a bbl that flexes when fired. I had a beutiful AK but I sold it in order to pay for my Bennelli M1S90 Tactical and spare rifled ER Shaw bbl. Oh well, I can always use the AK still if I want to. AK's are cheap to shoot, but there is no overcoming the weak ballistics of it's chambering. however, there are people out there converting the AK to 6.5Grendel, and 30HRT. But they are rare. Get a SVD Dragunov or similar, use it in .308win Better yet get a damn FAL

    Well then, if someone were to steal a plane and use it for some nefarious purpose we should also charge the owner of the plane for not having it guarded and locked up in an underground hardened shelter.

    Straw purchases are illegal and a felony, including being a federal weapons violation. So there is a crime committed when this occurs, why would anyone propose more laws to restrict others when the criminal is the one who needs to be prosecuted? The only reason straw purchases are not vehemently prosecuted is the fact that politicians and LEO's would prefer to take away everyones rights, so in fact the criminals are doing their bidding. If the laws were enforced we would not have these debates. The only solution is to follow the constitution to the letter, and prosecute those who violate it, or commit other crimes such as murder, etc.

    Just get an AK, SKS is ok, but has a few things I do not like about them. Loooooong trigger pull. Not as accurate as many would think. Not that there is anything wrong, just that there is better for the same money.

    with some modification and it could become a training device for many things. Who knows.

    In other words a suitcase nuke is nearly an impossible thing to manufacture, the only thing they may be able to do is make some fissible material blow up via conventional means and get a "dirty bomb" Pretty much a wasted effort.
