In my town we had a prominent Doctor that claimed to have been awarded the CMH. We also had a Judge do the same thing. both were phonies and when it came time, nothing was done about it. The local government let them slide. My dad once encountered a guy who claimed to be a Korean war hero. My Dad talked to him and asked him why he went around telling people what he did in the war. He told my Dad that he would not understand because he(my father) must have been a draft dodger or a POGUE. It took several guys pleading to get my Dad to stop beating the posers head on the parking lot. When all was over we found out that the guy claiming to be a hero was in prison during the Korean war for raping a eight year old girl. That is why people were believing his bullshit story, because he had done this in another state, and he used this story to cover his real absence. I think he should have been executed.

You DO realize that the techniques we use in SERE training were designed to get FALSE confessions (propaganda) from our people during the cold war, right? No they were not John, unless you received SERE training I think you might want to keep out of this topic. As you know you jump or have jumped with guys who have done so, they have a far different opinion developed by first hand knowledge. In fact there are some people that received the full SERE treatment, I am not sure but I think there were slight differences in the training depending on the nature of the mission you perform. I agree with you. There are quite a few laws that are on the books that need to go away but at least we can change that. it will just take time, we still have a segment of the population that is not enlightened enough to realize that some things do not need to be illegal.

My friend Steve has the same rifle, he had it since he was a kid. That was his very first firearm. I fixed it for him last spring it was jammed badly. Somehow a shell was driven into the chamber after a squib went halfway down the tube. Luckily the one in the chamber did not fire even though the pin stuck it hard enough. I cleared it and cleaned it up, plus did a minor trigger job on it. He says it works better than before now.

Found a picture of my Dad from back in 1969 I guess you can tell from the picture that he had the "look." Amazing how that happens, it just changes a person.
