  2. so re 377's note that means that what "some think" is ...wrong Jerry, the silver sulfate was for what, do you know? and an echo to Sluggo... re 377 well said. America was built on immigrants' dreams and some of us actually remember what it says on the Statue of Liberty, which don't forget is still probably the icon that most non-US would think first when asked for a symbol to represent the US. (even more off topic, we are already taxed on our medical insurance benefits here... and yes we do have a fair proportion of illegal immigrants here... and that's life and all that is a lot better than living in a country so bad that people want to leave it for greener pastures even if it means working well below minimum wage etc, which happens both in the US and here) anyway i believe speaker's corner is the appropriate place for politics, back to Cooper! 3. Ah, here's a photo of Barker from 1972. Not great quality but - if you believe Cooper must look like the sketch - enough to see he doesn't fit it - not because of age but face too round. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Frank_Sturgis_and_Bernard_Barker,_1960_and_1972.jpg edited to add... just seen a bigger version of the photo i posted before and it was actually from his mug shot in 1972 ! 4. Sluggo, very interesting link, thanks. 377... 6 degrees of separation... small world indeed. Short (and rather sad) wiki article on him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Wills_(security_guard) Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  5. And yet not more than 6 months after the hijack they investigated and prosecuted the watergate burglars ... or to put it differently if Weber was working with Barker, they were working for the same guy, so why would they go for one set and not for another. It just doesn't make sense, Jo, and you are ignoring repeated rational arguments on this subject by 377 as well. The history both of your own "circle" of covert agents and of such stuff in general simply belies what you are trying to claim. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  6. Not necessarily, we've spoken before about how certain people can easily look 5-10 years older or younger. I don't think 54 is out of the range of possibility and i don't know when the pic was taken but I suspect he is older than he looked in it. Would love to see a pic from the early 70s... edited to add from Sluggo's link: (But aren't you impressed Jo that I took your story as fact and rather dismissed him on the accent bit?) 7. This Barker guy sounds like quite an interesting fellow; http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/JFKbarkerB.htm Would be a good candidate for Cooper maybe ... especially this except Jo tells us he had an accent, which contradicts the witness testimony. From the above and other articles, seems he pretty much lived in Miami all along (not sure where the jails he went to are). edited to add pic (hope it is not too small) Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  8. So, Jo, now that you finally claim to have a "real" (as opposed to a join-the-dots-in-strange-ways) link between Duane and the CIA you are ... just backing down and saying "no-one will believe me"? Just like you cannot explain why despite 377's clear arguments you will not be at legal threat if you just tell the truth about what you have? Why do you go on and on about nebulous stuff and yet refuse to follow up what appears to be the real stuff? Is it because you are afraid Sluggo will be proved right - that Duane may have been "interesting", but was not Cooper? In any case... apart from you and Bruce, I don't think anyone believes the CIA had anything directly to do with the Cooper hijack. You're going to have to do a lot more than come up with CIA links to Duane to connect him to the case. (What were you doing reading a magazine at a big party anyway - that sounds distinctly anti-social...?) Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  9. Reminds me of that old definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. (attributed to a variety of people including Benjamin Franklin and Albert Einstein) Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  10. we have a somewhat different version of the saying here... "don't wrestle with pigs. you both get dirty, but the pig enjoys it". I think it is also rather apt ... perhaps not quite in the context you quoted your saying, though. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  11. wasn't aimed at you Jerry! Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  12. mishearing.. think frustration of someone who has spent years chasing after cooper never to find him.. "Uh -- damn Cooper!" Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

  15. Unless Jo is a lawyer, that wasn't aimed at her! CSI did cover something where some arbitrary thing destroyed evidence, can't remember if it was tapwater. I am not btw one of those people who thinks everything I see on TV is true (even if it is a "documentary" and not a fictional crime show). I did however read an interesting article a while back about how criminals have learnt stuff from CSI - like the bleach story - and used it to help cover their tracks. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  16. Yes. Anyone who has watched CSI knows bleach destroys DNA evidence (edited to ask 377 if i can get an applied chemistry degree too ) Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  17. 377, I'm not sure whether I should be insulted or flattered (no offence to anyone..you know who you are.. out there!) Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  18. er, what's a JD? Some American thing? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  19. Jo, Why would Duane give you a death bed confession that meant absolutely nothing to you? Why wouldn't he have said "I am DB Cooper, the man who hijacked that airliner and parachuted out with the ransom money?" 377 objection - requires the witness to speculate, your honour. It's a great question, of course. I;m just not sure it requires an answer Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  20. Weve been over this a thousand times. Ckret said too old for VN. There were lots of "civilian advisors" in Nam and tech reps. They didn't have to be soldier age. Also, since when did what "Ckret said" have more value than an educated guess? I miss him a lot and the forum really I from his absence but he is no closer than we are to knowing who Cooper was, but he may know more than we do about who Cooper wasn't. 377 377 Not just that 377 - Cooper didn't have to be in the army first time in Nam... there were enough more senior soldiers who had already seen duty in Korea etc (I posted a bio of at least one some time ago) and other stuff, the Tibetan drops etc. It does potentially make the PTSD argument a bit less potent than before though I think - unless what the guy saw was so much worse in Nam than what he had seen before. 21. Jo, I haven't read your whole post but saw that bit. This is the kind of thing that discredits your story. You have posted the above statement as if you know it for a fact, which you couldn't possibly unless Duane told you... which by your own account he couldn't have (or you would have known who Dan Cooper was long before you say you did). It is this kind of thing - inferring things from the flimsiest of foundations and then stating them as fact - that makes people simply switch off. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  22. Thanks for that insight Jerry. It is sad...wars do bad things to good people. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  23. Yeah, I don't think McCoy was Cooper either. But I think the line of argument is interesting because it just makes me wonder about the whole concept of "you don't even know what you don't know" ... which is not very helpful in trying to solve the case of course. I'm wondering what other things may "seem" obvious but actually aren't, and vice versa. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  24. Another thought. If McCoy had indeed kept his mouth shut and never been caught... I wonder how many of us here would believe he & DB Cooper were in fact the same person... I sure would be thinking that initially. An experienced civilian skydiver like McCoy probably would have picked the Pioneer sport rig which was available on the NORJACK plane. 377 Ah, but we wouldn't have known who McCoy was so would have had no idea in fact what rig he had brought onboard with him? All we would have done... was speculated that it took DB so long to get the rigs the first time, he sure wasn't gonna make that mistake again!! Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
