if you could go back in time and ask the founding fathers if they thought that abortion was a god-given right, what would they say? my guess is that they would be appalled by the idea and say absolutely not. i have nothing to back that up, its just my guess. since this will turn into an abortion debate anyway, i'll give my opinion. please answer the first question before entering the unavoidable abortion debate. i feel that until a fetus is viable, meaning that if born it could live on its own, it is a parasite and a part of a woman's body. that said, she has the right to terminate the pregnancy anytime before it is viable. the million dollar question is "what is viable?" that i'm open to debating. i'm sure there are plenty of people who agree with me so far, but our opinions would diverge when we got into the viavility debate. the question is, could a boodly mangles adult be shown in the same manner for a seatbelt ad or dui ad? if so, then the anti abortion people have the same rights. i wouldn't have a problem with these types of images on tv for two reasons. first is that i don't want the government telling me what i can and can't look at. second, if i don't want to see it or don't want my children to see it, i can turn it off. ads on the sides of trucks and billboards enter into a gray area. if i'm driving around town and pull up next to one of these trucks with my kids, there's nothing i can do to protect them from shit that they just shouldn't see. so, is this type of gory advertisement free speech, whether it be a mangled fetus or mangled adult? i don't know. i find the female breast far less offensive, but surely that would never be allowed. maybe we as a society need to re-evaluate what is decent. the odyssey would be the alternative to an suv. the advantage is that we can pack up the whole family plus the dog plus our camping gear and go up into the woods. why can't we do that with the truck you ask? when you put everyone in the cab, there's no room for luggage, cooler, and gear. here in the northwest, the chances pf running into rain can be pretty good. there is another solution which i have suggested but has been vetoed. we could just buy a locking waterproof hard cover for the bed of the truck and the problem would be solved just like aggiedave suggested. that way we could keep the car and save some money. i feel this is the best option, but i think meg wants a new vehicle. she could never bring herself to get a new car because she wants a new car. she has to justify it. i hate to do it, but i think i'm going to suggest that she test drive an odyssey before making a decision. she will be the one driving it every day so its ultimately her decision.
