  1. Thanks for updating the list Tony I'm gutted that I'm going to miss it But it is for a good reason (filming job)... BASEstore.it
  2. You could win some nice prizes in Europe /Russia this year
  3. Getting there, thanks Tom. I'm still not sure I'll adopt the term "pop" - although in german "poppen" is slang for shagging BASEstore.it
  4. hmmm, your explanation still isn't making it any clearer for me. BASEstore.it
  5. [reply when I describe "pop" is the ability to go up vertically, very-quickly, no matter what your forward velocity might be. So we could maybe describe this as the suits "low speed flying characteristics" then? (by 'speed' we obviously mean horizontal speed) BASEstore.it
  6. I have never seen the term "out pop" in an aerodynamics text book and so asked for clarification. I find the term confusing. We are a form of unpowered aircraft so surely we can find a more "aerodynamically" sound way of describing a suits flight performance. Stall is when an airfoil stops producing lift and most usually occurs when the critical angle of attack for the airfoil is exceeded. The airflow going over the top of the wing (or in our case wingsuit) completely detaches. It has been my experience that the majority of flock jumps are performed in a stall, with complete air flow separation (based on my observations jumping with streamers, smoke and threads attached the top surface of the suit). If you don't believe me wear smoke on your foot during a flock and watch external video of it recirculating up to your head. But hey, who cares! I'm not saying that you were stalling or that flocking is bad or not fun, I enjoy flocking immensely and attended all the big way events last year Z2/Russia/Cochstedt!!! I am just trying to understand what you mean and maybe together we can come up with a better way to explain it... J BASEstore.it
  7. Seriously, I never heard of "out pop". By the way you describe it - it sounds like you are talking about changing the suit from a stall to making it fly (and produce lift rather than just drag)? BASEstore.it
  8. What does "out pop" mean? Never heard that term before. Were you in a stall / flock or flying at a reasonable glide? J edit for thread title ~TA BASEstore.it
  9. We had a go at some wingsuit BASE flocking this past weekend We made a 6 way with McLuka, Martin, Mirko, Jojo, Roberto and myself. Mirko was BASE in his pimped Prodigy flying like a missile all the way to the bar McLuka and Roberto flew either side and I managed to get a couple of shots. Mirko's forward speed in the Pimped Prodigy (trademark Jurgen of the bbc) was impressive! Jojo and Martin were close behind but did not make it into the frame. We broke the formation before the hill and separated for opening
  10. Location: Stupino Dropzone Dates: 6 - 10th June 2007 Aircraft: 2 x MI 8 helicopter Boogie: Distance and Time Competition, BIG WAY formations Load Organisers: Robert Pecnik & James Boole Chief Judge: Valery Rozov For all the information please go here: http://www.stupinowingsuitboogie.com/ BASEstore.it
  11. Can anyone tell me the website that was used last year year by people in the US to get their Russian tourist Visas by post? I am putting together all the info for the upcoming boogie but can't find the web address J BASEstore.it
  12. Put smoke on a flock dive and you'll see the turbulence. The flights in FTL are for performance, the smoke goes into the votrex coming off the foot. Check out the footage on "holy smoke" J BASEstore.it
  13. In general wingsuit BASE jumpers don't wear protection (other than helmet) because as Jarno points out, object separation is not an issue and you can choose your landing area more easily. Once you have some wingsuit experience the risk of object strike becomes reduced. Even when people fly proximity they allow altitude to get separation from the wall. Pads are still a good idea if the landing area is bad. Like Tom says, fitting full body amour under a suit would require the suit to be sized accordingly. The low profile mountain bike pads work best, with incorporated knee & shin for the legs. For tracking you see a lot of people wearing pads under their P&J / smoke pants. J BASEstore.it
  14. Hello Mr. Eg, may I ask your name please? Are you the designer of Eg suits? J BASEstore.it
  15. We will release some more information in the near future
  16. J-Lo already did it, I've seen the video! BASEstore.it
  17. I've met people who started with 7 and people with 700+ BASE jumps. Some never jumped a wingsuit before (0 skydives), some had several hundred wingsuit skydives. Those with a solid skill base in both made better first jumps and progressed quicker. The in-experienced tend to have little fear of their 1st WS BASE jump. The experienced tend to have more fear. 22. Version 2.0 below> Definition of a complete wingsuit formation: "Everyone in their predetermined slot, within 6 feet of their correct position and held for 4 seconds" Notes: a. This definition is for simple 2D formation shapes. b. Each slot is determined by a predefined formation skeleton (see example attached) which uses a 12 foot spacing between rows and columns (x y axes). c. To be in slot each flyer must be within 6 feet of their correct position in the x and y axes AND d. each flyer must fly their slot within the following vertical range (z axis); -12' below the base and up to 48' above the base. e. Two camera angles are required to ratify the completion of the formation; a shot from above the formation to confirm everyone is in slot in the x and y axes and a side shot showing each flyer is within the range applied to the z axis. ______________________________________ I have tried to cover the points that people have raised. For sure this definition still has lots of holes (for 3D formations and the z axis range definition) but I hope we are close to a workable solution that we can try for this season. BASEstore.it
  23. and is now also on sm.com here: http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=5290 If you did you'd only make one flight There are some rules to follow and you usually work up to flights like this, gradually increasing the proximity. J BASEstore.it
  24. I got to see a Blade at the BPA AGM along with Jarno's cool 3d movie, top work J!! Macca and Mark were telling people the price of the Blade at the AGM but I will not post it just in case it is being kept offline for a reason.. BASEstore.it
