  1. A bunch of us from Skydive Chicago meet at this place: http://emiliostapas.com/lincolnpark.htm. There is a recipe search function. Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners!
  2. I missed that one. Now as pennance I have to clean up your dogs' poo, huh? Nah, The Senator will have one of his staffers do it instead - at taxpayers' expense. I should run for alderman ... Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners!
  3. Dearie, some of us see this as a tremendous advantage If I walk out my front door I'm playing in the Park District or even the lake within two minutes. And I don't have to mow or shovel anything! I've lived in the Loop, Streeterville and now it's Old Town/Lincoln Park. I travel the globe but it will always be home sweet home Chicago to me. I love this place. Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners!
  4. From what I can tell the law would treat these two schemes quite differently. Orange shouldn’t lose sleep over it while on the other hand Skyride … Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners!
  5. I feel better now. But I really clobbered it this time. A centimeter would not be an exaggeration. Crud! At least I can laugh at myself along with the rest. Oh ouch!! Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners!
  6. A few hours ago I believe I may have insulted The Deity here on dropzone.com in SC. Now divine retribution is masquerading under guise of my carelessly chopping-off the end of my left ring finger while I was slicing a green pepper for late office nosh. My left hand was wrapped around the pepper with the ring finger near bottom when as I was pressing the chef’s knife downwards I felt resistance that erroneously got attributed to vegetable matter. Wrong! I’ve done this before unfortunately, but there never was so much blood and why are you all now spin-
  7. How about a bigger cooler instead? And more toga parties. Toga! Toga! Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners!

  10. “Damages caused by [unfair competition] are by their very nature irreparable and not susceptible of adequate measurement for remedy at law.” “It is difficult to imagine an unfair competition case where damages are adequate to remedy the problem of defendant’s continued acts. If an injunction were denied, the court would be telling plaintiff to sit by and watch defendant continue to violate the law and infringe upon plaintiff’s rights until such time as plaintiff decided to sue again for money damages as compensation for the past injury incurred. Thus, an injunction is the standard remedy in unfair competition cases.” 5 McCarthy On Trademarks and Unfair Competition § 30:2 (West); accord McKenney & Long, Federal Unfair Competition: Lanham Act § 43(a) § 10:2 (West). You’re not going to get a state AG’s attention with this trifling (in their view) matter unless the scale of Skyride’s business practices increases measureably or a customer is physically harmed. Name one such federal intellectual property or unfair business practices statute that has been “pulled back” during the past twenty years. Certainly you’re not referring to the Lanham Act, which has *expanded* the availability of private enforcement actions by the addition of federal dilution and domain name infringement causes of action. Lawrocket, I tend to value your postings on a wide variety of topics including legal ones. However I earn the lion’s share of my income from litigating intellectual property cases across the globe and I sincerely hope that you will bone up on trademark and unfair competition law a bit before posting on legal matters having to do with these subjects. 11. Not if a court with jurisdiction issues a proper injunction which forbids them from doing so. I'm sure of this. Quite. Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners!
  12. I don't know much about these guys. Any chance they have enough outside backing to adopt silent partners/reorganize and trump their ouster? Even if they have Joe Blow business and legal advisors an attempted end run would hardly be surprising. It should be interesting to review at least a summary of the board minutes, I personally am curious whether USPA or a dzo pool has assembled a core nucleus of paid or pro bono counsel, assuming more steps to quiet this matter are needed. Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners!
  13. The bans/revocations clear a hurdle for decisive action in the federal district court system. Skyride and its proprietors can no longer claim official endorsement of their practices. Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners!
  14. I walk out of movies all the time and Team America is one of those I bailed on, Trey and Matt 'reft me feering oh so rohnry,' PJ Clarke's witching hour was a far superior choice for entertainment. Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners!

  16. From the USPA website: USPA Board Meeting Completes (07/17/05) ... A skydiving service code of conduct has been added to the USPA Group Member pledge. That oughta have Skyride quaking in it boots dude Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners!
  17. A question for the pro's: how do you manage to keep the earphone covers _on_ the earphones? My earphone covers fly off and get lost almost as soon as I buy new ones and remove the phones once or twice Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners!
  18. Ditto. I've never used a cannula however. Your comments re observable effects, cheapo facemask vice booger kebob, are welcome and will be appreciated, a separate post on this comparison might be helpful. .02 Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners!
  19. Sure, that's what you think, it's something we all think when we're hypoxic I've been to 22k w/o supplemental O2 on the ride up FWIW. Not smart but you couldn't convince me of this at the time. Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners!
  20. Coldstone or Oberweis. Fresh Michigan peaches on cinnamon ice cream ((Ober-; I used to plant peach trees in SW Mi for Ober-, I claim to know) or even black raspberries from Joe Jackson's (New Buffalo) )on top of Coldstone cheesecake - tantamount to Dean's of Allegan, almost. But for the Allegan farmers' cream ... Bluto. Short for political victory!
  21. Chinese opera at its finest. Loads of fun even if you know its history and the director's view on Western cinema and Hollywood! Blutarsky 2008. No Prisoners!

  24. A positive development ... More child camel jockeys return A second group of 86 children working as camel jockeys in the Gulf have returned to Pakistan, officials say. The children have been repatriated under a deal between the United Arab Emirates and the United Nations. Most are from poor families and will be accommodated at a government facility. The first batch of 22 such children returned to Pakistan last month. Hundreds of young children from poor countries are sent to the Gulf every year to work as camel jockeys. Hostile environment The children arrived from Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on an early morning flight on Friday. They were received in Lahore by the Punjab government's advisor on child rights, Faiza Asghar. "We cannot return them the years they have lost in a hostile environment," Ms Asghar told reporters at the Lahore airport. "But we promise we will do our best to make their futures better." Camel racing is a hugely popular sport in the Gulf countries and children are preferred jockeys because of their light weight. Reports from international agencies and the media say these children are treated like slaves by their employers who "care more for the camels than the children". Minister for overseas Pakistanis Tariq Azim has estimated that nearly 3,000 children involved in camel races are stranded in the UAE, out of which between 70 to 80% are of Pakistani origin. Robot jockeys In June the UAE agreed a deal with Unicef and the governments of Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sudan, Mauritius and the UAE to repatriate child camel jockeys. They agreed that help and protection would be offered to boys until they were sent back to their homelands. The UAE banned jockeys aged under 16 and weighing less than 45kg (100lb) two months ago. Following successful tests, the UAE says that it now plans to use robot jockeys in place of the boys. Back home, locating the parents of these children can be an onerous task, given that some of them left Pakistan when they were barely a few years old. Ms Asghar said that in some cases, the Punjab government has had to do blood tests to determine their parentage. The caution is aimed at ensuring that none of the children end up with adults who may send them back to the UAE. The Punjab government is seeking written undertakings from parents that they would not send their children back to being child jockeys.
