  1. Wow...you sound all brainy and stuff. Maybe it was YOU that invented the internet!
  2. Isn't that basically the premise for every reality TV show?? No...it's speakers corner :)
  3. I was in New Jersey when i was about 8 or 9 years old for 2 years. Does that qualify me to judge the rest oft the country Franco Wow...you spent time in Jersey and you're willing to come back??? Amazing!! Insurance rates are based on several things, your driving record (of which you have NONE in the US...could be bad), your age (over 25 gets a break), your marital status (married gets a break), what kind of car (safe sedans get a break, sports cars are trouble).
  4. No problem...continue living with your head in the sand. You obviously don't care, so why even worry about it? There's no problem because it doesn't affect you and you haven't personally witnessed it...all is fine.
  5. I have no idea what any of your points in your last post were because none of them were a complete sentence. But...I'll try. Don't know what blogny is, but my "arguement" has nothing to do with Nortel. That's your argument. Mine is related to the overall conditions nationwide. You are relying on a single company which very well many not have bias in senior managment. Good for them. That still doesn't "prove" that no one else does. You guess what? Is there another half to this sentence. I'd classify them all as white, and so would the US census. I never said a thing about white anglos. You did. I was talking about women. Yes, I have a job. And I believe Nortel is a public corporation. That means their sr managment compensation MUST be published. Do you not work for a public corporation? Is that why you ask such a clueless question? And you've worked for every company in the country? Wow...amazing!!! Your anecdotes mean squat. Corporations are usually better at towing the line than small businesses. I've worked for a lot of small businesses and in a couple of them the owners/managers were biased and showed it. Facts, by definition, can't be misleading. Only their interpretation. Bottom line. I don't dispute that you've never encountered discrimination. But for you to claim that no one else does is completely ludicrous. And....wrong.
  6. First...I said they probably are an exception. Forget about the slava and canadian. They're still white...nice try though. Now tell me, how does the compenstation of the minorities in that group compared to non-minority peers? And last, even if it IS equitable, they are fortunate. I never said that all or even most companies are discriminatory. I said that it exists and is widespread. Your one example doesn't dispute that. The facts and figures from the US federal gov't regarding the issue, supports what I'm saying. Sorry to be contradictory, but you're still wrong, despite your anecdotal evidence.
  7. You'll never have a 100% perfect system. But the last round of welfare reform did a pretty good job. The good-for-nothings are a tiny tiny percentage of the people receiving welfare. Unfortunately you'll have people that take advantage, but it's not enough to be concerned about. It amounts to a couple dollars per tax payer per year.
  8. Probably...but what does the make up of SENIOR management look like? Well, you're wrong. You're basing it on your observation, not on reality. See the Quade's thread about the cute little nazi girls and my comment. Just because you haven't personally witnessed it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I have personally witnessed senior personell at places where I've worked talking about "niggers" and "bitches". False accusations, my ass.
  9. Along with free speech comes the right to raise your children with your beliefs. As despicable as they may be, they shouldn't have their kids taken away. This is another good example, though, when people try to argue that racial discrimination doesn't exist anymore. Of course it does. It's been only two generations since the civil rights movement. Just because someone isn't a racist and doesn't know any racists, doesn't mean there aren't still a whole lot of them around.
  10. Hell...you can visit the US for that. After all, we have the highest rate of poverty in the western world. Fortunately though, we have programs in place to keep people from starving. A lot of people would like to get rid of those programs though, effectively turning us into a third world country that lets its people die in the streets.
  11. So, when a manager has the opinion that bringing a black man in to work with the existing white men will upset the group and cost the company money, it's ok for him to not hire blacks, without regard to their qualifications? Maybe you do think that's ok, but I don't. And I don't think it's ok when it's done in regard to women, either. There's no difference. No matter how you try to justify it, using someone's class (race, sex, sexual orientation) to disqualify someone no matter what the rationale is always wrong. AND it still takes place. Your justification of it is pretty good evidence of that fact.
  12. Except when you use that as justification for war AND YOU ARE FUCKING WRONG!!!
  13. I used to be a little boy So old in my shoes
  14. whatever......light weight.
  15. it won't see the light of day, given the Depression it would cause. It is irreversible. BTW, I'm a renter. You're probably right. And damnit..as I stated earlier, it would give me my first chance to praise Bush for doing something beneficial. Guess he's destined to never do anything worthwhile after all. Tis a shame.
  16. I have no idea what the fuck you are trying to say.
  17. OK...i praised your assessment in the founding doc thread...but this is way off. You can pay a hooker to talk to you for an hour....that's not sex.
  18. Let no one question this man's understanding of history as it relates to this nation. Very well put.
  19. It may in fact. I wonder if it has ever been challenged on those grounds. Nope....as long as they ban it for instate companies as well as out of state, it doesn't. For instance, there was a supreme court ruling a couple weeks ago that states that allow their instate wineries to ship to customers within that state, can't ban other states wineries from shipping to their citizens either. So....PA quickly (like in a day) banned all in state wineries from shipping within the state . It meets the standard...ban it for all, and it's ok. Meanwhile, 104 PA winery owners are screwed right before the holiday season.
  20. Only problem with that is the idea and the phrase both come from Franklin...and that cat was anything but puritanical.
  21. I don't entirely disagree, but the plan floated by Bush repeals it.
