  1. Hoisting one in her honor right now. Just wish I remembered to bring the pink feather boa to wear. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity
  2. Careful how you clean the Mamba lens. It can scratch/haze easily. Only wash with clean water using your fingers to scrub it. Air dry. Any type of paper towel or cloth can do damage. I also have a large melon and the Mamba fits great. Love it in cold weather. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity
  3. Spot, you rang? I agree with lurch and SM1. The Sabre1 is da bomb for a wingsuit canopy. I have over 300 jumps total on my 170 & 150. Made a couple on a 135. A canopy that opens hard at terminal is often just smooth in a WS. Since they open briskly, it leaves less time for the canopy to hunt and even if you have line twists, the canopy still flies without diving. If yours has opening issues, check that the lines are in trim. My 170 started to misbehave. A new lineset made all the difference. Haven't tried the Storm, but have heard many good things about it. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity
  4. Those buttons on the front of the TV are there for a reason. You have a universal remote, just don't realize it. Have one of your kids get up and push the buttons. Problem solved. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity

  6. Cameras that use DVD for recording are not reliable for skydiving. The reduced air pressure at altitude can allow the write head to crash into the disk. Quick way to kill a camera. Tape based (which is being phased out) and solid state are the way to go. Be glad your cameras still work instead of just turning off. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. 7. Kind of hard to kick of a shoe when it is in a WS bootie. i agree though, that cut away pin would be hard to reach and under tension if it had a line entanglement. I would also suggest a left foot bracket. A pilot chute can get hooked on a right side bracket. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity

  13. Around 26-27 seconds, you can see the right side rear riser is spun around and pulled in front of the front riser by one of the lines. The line goes around the left side risers and back underneath the slider to the right side. The slider kill line wouldn't do this. You can see the left kill line pull tab and a slack rear edge of the slider. Looks like a single line step through. The risers are being pulled together by that line. 50 donations so far. 14. The ground prep/teaching is important. But another equally important part of coaching is being aware/observant on the ground and in the air. Then being able to provide a debrief for the student that allows for improvement. Trying to do a debrief for the first time as part of the coach course can be nerve racking. Coaches need to be able to remember what happened and when, then be able to tell the student what actually happened. A real student often doesn't know or thinks it went great. A coach examiner will know exactly what they did and when. Did the "student" achieve the TLOs, did they maintain altitude awareness, what did they well and what can they improve on? Practicing before the course is a big help. One way to do this is by lurking a small(2-3 way) RW jump, including the dirt dive. Preferably one with low time jumpers. Make sure you dirt dive the break off so everyone knows where you will be. Then lurk the dive and watch for if it went as planned. All the while maintaining altitude awareness. If it didn't, what happened and what would you suggest for improvement. It is a skill that takes practice. Another skill that takes lots of practice is the language used in training/debriefs. Under times of stress, we hope the student will revert back to training. But under times of stress, we also seem to filter out the "don't"s, "never"s and "not"s. As such, always give instruction and debriefs by highlighting what the student should do rather than what they shouldn't, never or not do. I have heard many stories of there being a single tree in a large landing area and how many students have landed in said tree. Willing to bet direction was given as "Don't land in the tree" or "don't focus on the tree". Student gets close to the tree, stresses, focuses on the tree and steers straight towards and lands in it. Verses direction of "if near the tree, wind sock, etc, stay calm and look at & steer towards the open part of the field". I was surprised at how long it took me to break that habit. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity

  17. Sangi, 100 jumps is a little over an hour and a half. Think of it like learning to drive a car. With only that much time, you can get from point a to point b, but you still are probably thinking about shifting, watching for traffic, using your turn signals and a whole host of other things. LOTS of things to think about at the same time. Add another 1.5 hours of drive time and those things have become a little more second nature and you are not having to think about them as much. You notice more things around you because the mechanics of what you are doing are not what you are concentrating on because they are muscle memory. You anticipate problems because you have the experience to see them before they are in your face. That only comes with time. Lets change this to skydiving. But now you are getting this experience in 1 minute blocks weeks apart. Still the same issues of lots of things to focus on and muscle memory needing to be developed. Big difference is if you get overwhelmed in a car, you pull over. Can't do that in a skydive. Adding the camera adds more shit you have to think about and having that built up muscle memory allows one to focus at the task at hand. These responses are provided in the hope of helping a noob become an old fart instead of a statistic. Might seem harsh, but when after many people saying slow it down and the OP still saying "but, but, but, I'll be OK, I'm special", it just shows that showering people with rainbows and unicorns doesn't always work and a swift internet slap up side the head *might* get through. Hmmmm, anyone listening? 50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity
  18. Let's see. Admitted packing error. Already discussed wearing a camera with less than 200 jumps. No cutaway on camera helmet. Can I buy a square on your bounce bingo game? ps, didn't waste the time of watching the vid. That would only encourage you to keep doing what people have mentioned is not to bright. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity
  19. I don't have line twists to often, thanks to my Nitron opening pretty consistently. But when I need a quick untwist, using the armwing works great. Much faster than risers/leg kicks. Keep the leg wing closed so it doesn't catch air and slow down the untwist. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity

  22. If I check my gear, I have a copy of the FAA regs regarding inspection and my contact info sitting on top of my rig in case they want to inspect. In large print, it requests they call me to witness/provide assistance or to answer questions during inspection. Is there anything we can/should do at border checkpoints that would help reduce the risk to our gear and make it easier for you folks to do your job? 50 donations so far. Give it a try.
