Had you read my posts in this thread, you would have a pretty good idea of the answer to your questions. Hint: It has nothing to do with IT. Nope. I expect those who have benefitted from society to give back to society. I also expect my income to increase substantially to include me in the group that does so much paying back. All you're doing is highlighting your arrogance and ignorance. But, by all means, keep it up! If you can set aside your overinflated ego long enough, try to consider the possibility that someone who studies financial and economic topics might have a better idea about such things than a doctor of medicine. You don't see me trying to explain to you how to give a Papanicolaou test, do you? It would remove one of the barriers, yes. That doesn't mean I'm not responsible enough to wait until I can remove the other barriers. Well, you certainly don't have it straight. The implication is that I'm not going to jump again until I can be responsible for my potential fuck-ups, i.e. I want to have access to health care and enough disposable income to maintain a decent level of currency. Supporting universal health care doesn't mean I expect others to be responsible for me. It means that I recognize that our current health care system is broken, and private industry has failed to take the initiative to remedy the situation themselves. Math tutoring available. It's rather arrogant of you to imply that only those who are financially successful struggle. It also demonstrates a glaring disconnect with reality. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

You don't. You have to pay what Congress deems to be your share. Contrary to what you may believe, you're not twice as important or twice as worthy than someone else just because you have a higher income. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

If that were necessary for your statements to be false, that would imply that the bottom 40% of earners have no stake in the country. The poorest US citizen has just as much stake in the entity of the United States of America as the richest citizen in the US has. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

Just like before you tip a server at a restaurant, the money is yours. After you tip the server, the money belongs to the server. Before you buy goods from a store, the money is yours. After you pay for the goods, the money belongs to the store. The only reason you have any claim at all to taxes already paid is because we have a government of the people, for the people, and by the people. That does not make my statements false … Yes, it does. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

I've never signed an employment contract stating that taxes that I've owed and paid belong to me. You do realize that your employer pays you before you owe and pay the taxes, right? It's only partial fiction. We are entitled to part of the fruits of our labor, but we owe other parts of that fruit to society, via the government. I don't see anyone making such a claim. Only taxation isn't robbery. Taxation is legal and Constitutional. Rule of law is the antithesis of threat of force. By choosing to live in the USA of your own free will, then you consent to the taxation and rule of law of the USA. Oh, I understand the difference. If you have the time, try reading the Constitution, and perhaps you'll understand the difference, too. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

No. Like demanding you pay your taxes. So, I guesd you have given up the selfishness argument and now stick to congressional authority, which I acknowledge. No, I still consider the Libertarian economic philosophies to be derived from selfishness and fiscal ignorance. Fortunately, the one of the talking points sometimes parroted, that income taxes are unConstitutional, is false. Nope. Same discussion. You're still trying to come up with excuses as to why it's unfair for you to be expected to pay your taxes. I'm simply addressing those excuses. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! Who knows? I have no information about the hospital across town, and damn little about the non-profit hospital. Like I said, examining a single non-profit to draw conclusions about all non-profits is foolish. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

Really? So, who's paycheck DID the taxes I pay come out of, then? Really. Once the taxes are paid they belong to the government, i.e. the people, not the individuals who paid the taxes. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

For the record, the not-for-profit suggestion was pirana's. I mentioned it only because it was an alternate idea to what I support that seems viable and doesn't rest on the false premise that our current system isn't broken. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

What exactly are those additional demands? Do you not acknowledge Congress' authority to raise your taxes? Did you not read the Constitution before or after you swore to defend it? Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

CR123A C -> Cylindrical R -> Lithium 123A -> 1x 2/3 A (2/3 the size of an A cell) IEC name: CR17345 (Lithium) CR -> Cylindrical Lithium (presumably) 17 -> 17 mm diameter 345 -> 34.5 mm length Some companies have different numbers for this cell. For example Energizer: EL123A (EEnergizer Lithium 1x 2/3 A) Duracell: DL123A (Duracell Lithium 1x 2/3 A) Some model numbers for these primary cells: CR123, CR123A, CR123-A, CR-123A, CR-123, EL123, DL-123, DL-123AB, 123-SANYO, DL123A, EL123A, K123LA, CR17345, EL123AP, SF123A1, VL123A These cells are (typically) ridiculously expensive in brick & mortar stores, but can be found at reasonable prices ($1-$2 per cell) online from many retailers (e.g Battery Junction, Battery Station). They are a very common cell size for high powered handheld flashlights such as SureFire. They have a ten year shelf life. Some reputable, high quality brands include (but are not limited to): Battery Station all blue sleeve only, Duracell, Energizer, Rayovac, and Surefire). Note that rechargeable cells of this size (RCR123A, 17340) are higher voltage (3.2 V - 3.6 V, depending on chemistry) and should not be used without manufacturer approval. Math tutoring available. That would be an impossible analysis until we have the final version of any applicable bill. Until then, all we can really do is make relevant comparisons of current, relevant private & public entities. Yes, they can. Being non-profit indicates that the corporation does not exist to make profits for shareholders. It does not mean that those working for the non-profit corporation do so for free. No, I'm not. I'm pointing out the fallacious argument that such a large proportion of Americans are not paying taxes. True. I've never met anyone who didn't pay any taxes, though. So people should get income tax returns at the end of the year because they paid sales tax? How in the hell did you get that from my post? The economy seems to have slowed/stopped its downward trend. No, it wasn't, despite the claims you may currently be hearing from right wing pundits. Yes, really. When we were finally on a path of fiscal responsibility in the last years of Clinton's budgets, how did the Republicans respond? By lowering taxes and increasing spending, a contributing factor of the recession from which we have had to pay dearly to begin recovering. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! Compare the administration costs of Medicare to private insurance companies. Such a comparison would certainly suggest that the savings would outweigh the costs. Here it is. Working for a not-for-profit entity does not imply that those performing the work make any less than their counterparts who work for for-profit entities. Another misconception is that those who owe no federal income tax pay no taxes. It simply isn't true. True. I've never met anyone who didn't pay any taxes, though. The $800B stimulus is doing wonders, isn't it? So far as I can read, it is working as intended. It was never expected to work magically overnight. No, we have an $11 trillion debt because too many people complain about paying too much in taxes, so there isn't enough income to cover expenses. The tax system isn't working perfectly (nor has anyone claimed otherwise). We pay too little in taxes, hence the large public debt. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour!
