No, it wasn't a joke at all. I was just pointing out the irony that someone who believes that competition and the law of supply & demand can sort everything out in the marketplace doesn't believe they will work to sort out the rules of the marketplace. True, skydivers are willing to pay the prices. However, the fact remains that the price for some manufacturers' rigs include more added cost for subsidizing sponsored rigs than others. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

Why? Personally, I kind of like people who have ideals and stick to them. It makes it easier to predict how they're going to behave once they're in office. People who just change to suit the political winds are likely to continue doing so once in office. Gotta love the irony! … Maybe you can provide some examples. Libertarians are strong supporters of free markets and competition. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

That's the single most common reason I've seen for people switching from Racers, free or deeply discounted rigs from other manufacturers. You might be surprised how easily a high time jumper with a good reputation can obtain free gear from some manufacturers. Why do you think some rigs are so expensive? Math tutoring available. I can think of quite a few jumpers who only gave up their Racers after other manufacturers gave them free rigs. Racer is one of only about three containers that I'll pay retail for if I'm in the market to buy a rig. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

I've seen that with a lot of bikers around Daytona Beach, also. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

Sounds like a scam using a stolen PayPal account, which seems to be becoming more common. An important aspect of Craigslist is the ability to sell locally for cash in order to avoid scams. Edit to add: I use PayPal fairly frequently, and have never received such an email. Does your PayPal account show the pending transaction if you log in directly (i.e. not going to the site via any links in the email, but rather typing "paypal.com" into your browser)? Sadly, I heard yesterday that Wes Rich passed away. He suffered a heart attack last week, and was taken off life support yesterday. Although I don't think he was an active jumper any longer, Wes owned and operated Rim World Video in Deland, and built some of the very best custom camera helmets in skydiving. I'll remember fondly speaking with him in his shop on numerous weekends. Aside from being a very interesting character, I'll remember how his shop was always in perfect order. His meticulous nature made him very well suited to build the helmets upon which professional videographers could depend on to do the job with interfering in the skydive. Math tutoring available. No, not even love is free. We just invest emotional capital instead of cash. When things work out, receiving the emotional "dividends" can be extraordinarily pleasant, euphoric. When things don't work out, the losses can be gut wrenching. Oops, sorry. I didn't mean to hijack your thread. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

By my logic, someone hired to defend is hired to fight, should fighting be necessary for defense. Fighting is not offensive only. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

No doubt they are recruited for their ability to defend by singing Kumbaya in key, right? After all, everyone knows that defense and fighting are mutually exclusive. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

Me too … but I’d hope that would be evident from the style and substance of what I write, as well as the times I’ve defended other posters and their challenging of my arguments…. That's certainly an admirable ideal. Lately, I've encountered friends (and strangers) making and strongly defending assertions that are provably and objectively wrong. It takes all of the enjoyment out of attempts at intelligent discussion, more so when it is an especially intelligent friend doing it. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! The question comes because the Energizer battery is labeled "123" instead of "CR123A". … We just want to know if the manufacturer approves of the use of this battery, of if they will claim we have fouled should such a battery be found in their device. It is rather ironic that many/most of the highest quality "CR123A" batteries on the market are not labeled in exactly that way, but most lower quality, lower cost generics are. I'm of the opinion that it would be in everyone's best interest if Aviacom would give the ANSI & IEC standardized designation numbers for the cells they want to be used. While CR123A is a common name for the cells, but not a standardized designation. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

I agree that that's a bit idealistic. I don't think it's too idealistic to expect a guy to not leave sperm deposits in a woman who he doesn't trust enough to have his child and/or make a decision (w/r/t to potential pregnancy) that is agreeable to him, also. He made the choice to have sex with her, understanding the law as it stands, and then after that he made the choice to his his sperm freely to do with as she wished. I would say that greed, deregulation, and dishonest executives played a MUCH larger role. LOL. You really don't understand what actuarial science is about, do you. This is far more of an actuarial topic than a topic for doctors and lawyers. There was nothing flippant about my reply. Knock off the arrogance. [Reply]Why not? Because, contrary to Libertarian belief, it is possible to hold liberal economic views and still believe in personal responsibility. Heck, my belief in personal responsibility is why I hold such liberal economic views. And there's the fallacy upon which your argument is built. [Reply]Private industry can't do shit. They won't do shit, anyway. You seem to have failed to consider that healthcare the healthcare industry is failing because of the private for-profit players. Math tutoring available. I don't have any socioeconomic class in my sights. Are you paranoid? Tax law isn't your specialty, I see. I'd also be interested in what authority you believe Congress could use for such a tax. Here's a hint: the sixteenth amendment doesn't apply. Like I said, I would be interested in seeing what Constitutional provision would empower Congress to pass such a law. Math tutoring available. There is no reason to believe the outcome would be any different than the current comparison between Medicare and private insurance companies, in which Medicare operates more efficiently. Perhaps you should take the time to research exactly what a non-profit organization is. To start, the Dow has just finished it's best two week improvement since 2000. No, it wasn't, despite the claims you may currently be hearing from right wing pundits. Really? Right wing pundits. Hmm.. didn't realize he was working for Fox now. You clearly didn't read the article. There is no mention of a magical overnight recovery, as you claim. Do you really not understand the difference between borrowing and spending money on unnecessary wars and borrowing and investing money on national infrastructure? Math tutoring available.
