Proof, or speculation? This statement from you shows you don't understand capitalism at all. If company "A" raises wages then people want to work there. If you want to keep good employee's, you need to match or beat your competitors wages. The Spirit Airlines strike shows this.... Except it has the added difficulty of Union Sr. lists playing into it. Without the Sr. lists, pilots could move without losing money. This would bring most of the pay into the same range. Capitalism *includes* wages for work. That statement shows you don't know capitalism at all.

Company's are free to raise their wages whenever they feel like it.... Just like Foxconn did. That does not equal a Federally mandated min wage increase.
-
Great question. It seems some only approve of this style of interview when it is aligned with their political views....

?????????? If I slap a guy and then that guy drops something... It is not a gigantic stretch to conclude that he dropped it due to being slapped. Like it or not, hitting and grabbing someone is assault. Videoing and asking questions is not. And you could... But you would also be guilty of assault.

"When his adultery was discovered he left Congress" As opposed to when a Dem does it, he sticks around. Both sides do stupid things. You get upset because people who claim to be better get caught. We get upset because your folks don't feel bad about doing it. Your VP candidate was cheating on his sick wife while running for VP!!!!! So the Dems can't really claim the high ground here.

Hey, at least admit you are doing things and there would never be an issue. -
Only in America: Where Guns and Health Care Mix
DaVinci replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
It is since the OP included this: "On the one hand, it's pretty pitiful that in the most prosperous nation on the planet, people have to resort to desperate (if Darwinesque) means to try to get health care." That wass the HC/stupid person portion. Then you added this to bring the gun part into it. "On the other hand, isn't it great that she had the right tool for the job? " And since the OP was from you.... It was you that brought it into it. Just admit that you were trying to be witty and trying to make a statement about the lack of HC in the US and the availability of guns and move on. -
I have made no threats... I have just debunked your position over and over. You claimed three people didn't approve the use of arms... Yet I showed they did. You failed. You claimed that I used "phony" quotes.... Yet you were unable to show them as fake. You failed again. You are not using personal attacks and emotion instead of trying to debate. Third fail. Don't blame me for your failures and errors in logic.
-
Irrelevant. We are discussing THIS Country and how the FF's set it up. Point on the "Democracy" thing... But I am using it as THEY did. And there are places like the US where the insurgents used the arms they had to throw out the people that were trying to rule them. And that trend tends to continue in places like Iraq. If you don't like it.... That does not change that the FF's put it into place as a way to keep the Govt in check. And the fact is it has been used to create this country, and has been used INSIDE this country (Civil War) and in other Country's.
-
Not a personal attack. You do not want people to be armed, and the FF's did. You claim that "gun nuts" are a threat to Democracy, but the FF's said that guys like you that wish to disarm the populace is the biggest threat. Now... Instead of running away, answer the questions posed if you can. I am betting you are unable.
-
If they are phony... Please prove they are phony. You know, like I did with your Mahatma Ghandi, and Nelson Mandela, and Jesus claims. I have. You just ignore it since you can't defend against it.
-
Just admit you can't defend against them. The point is clear... the Founding Fathers supported the right of citizens to be armed. A position you disagree with, but are unable to defend.
-
All three approved of the use of arms when the situation warrants it. Your use of them to back your position is gone.
-
A time and a place for everything. You don't call the fire department to blow out a candle. Your constancy is off. You are fine with infringing on 2nd Amendment rights, but not 4th Amendment rights. Also, you claim that gun owners that illegally have a gun are bad people... But that people that broke the 18th Amendment didn't do anything wrong. Again, your constancy is off.
-
The founding fathers disagree with you... They seem to think the most dangerous thing to a Democracy is a guy like you. "Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence" -- Washington. "To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them." -- Richard Henry Lee American Statesman, 1788 "The greatest danger to American freedom is a government that ignores the Constitution." -- Thomas Jefferson "They that give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." -- Ben Franklin
-
Then would you support a guy with no criminal record walking into a gun store and buying a Full Auto M4?
-
Sure it does. It does in DC, it does in NY, Chicago, CA.... No, and neither did the founding fathers. "And that the said Constitution be never construed to authorize Congress to infringe the just liberty of the Press, or the rights of Conscience; or to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms; …" -- Samuel Adams quoted in the Philadelphia Independent Gazetteer, August 20, 1789 Now, do you support a citizen with no record owning a Full Auto M4?
-
In the long run... Yes. But you have to be around to write history. But look what the Founding fathers used their pens for: "I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them." -- George Mason "And we do each of us, for ourselves respectively, promise and engage to keep a good firelock in proper order, and to furnish ourselves as soon as possible with, and always keep by us, one pound of gunpowder, four pounds of lead, one dozen gunflints, and a pair of bullet moulds, with a cartouch box, or powder horn, and bag for balls." -- George Mason Fairfax County Militia Plan, 1775. "They tell us that we are weak—unable to cope with so formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be when we are totally disarmed, and when a British guard shall be stationed in every house? Three million people, armed in the holy cause of liberty, are invincible by any force which our enemy can send against us." -- Patrick Henry, 1775 "The supposed quietude of a good man allures the ruffian; while on the other hand, arms like laws discourage and keep the invader and the plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. The balance of power is the scale of peace. The same balance would be preserved were all the world destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside. Horrid mischief would ensue were one half the world deprived of the use of them; the weak would become a prey to the strong." -- Thomas Paine, writing to religious pacifists in 1775 "Arms in the hands of the citizens may be used at individual discretion for the defense of the country, the overthrow of tyranny or private self-defense." -- John Adams "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms" -- Thomas Jefferson. "Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined. The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able may have a gun." -- Patrick Henry Please show me quotes from the writers of the Constitution that say citizens should not be allowed to have weapons? And finally, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

You don't really know your history: "Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the Act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest."--Mahatma Ghandi The Indian Arms Act of 1878 was a total gun ban enacted to protect the British realm from an insurgency. Ghandi opposed this Act. Uh, you do know that Nelson Mandela did encourage violence right? In 1961, Mandela became leader of the ANC's armed wing. He coordinated sabotage campaigns against military and government targets, making plans for a possible guerrilla war if the sabotage failed to end apartheid. Mandela also raised funds for MK abroad and arranged for paramilitary training of the group. Whittaker, David J. (2003). The Terrorism Reader (Updated ed.). Routledge. pp. 244. Mandela described the move to armed struggle as a last resort; years of increasing repression and violence from the state convinced him that many years of non-violent protest against apartheid had not and could not achieve any progress. Mandela, Nelson (1994). Long Walk to Freedom. Little, Brown and Company. In the end Mandela was imprisoned. The charges included involvement in planning armed action, in particular four charges of sabotage. In fact, many people are looking for a gun given to Mandela http://www.algeria.com/forums/geopolitics-international-affairs/15401-nelson-mandelas-gun.html Luke 22:36: "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one." There are passages that claim a peaceful solution... but there are examples that allow for self defense and the Bible is filled with holy warriors. So three for three you are incorrect. ALL allowed the use of arms if the situation called for it.

DaVinci replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
Sorry.. .you can't blame guns for a person being stupid. She could afford smoking, but not a Dr visit? Maybe she should have done that BEFORE she had a case of the stupids. -
And its funny how liberals are not saying a word about it, and in fact encouraging it now, when they were up in arms about it when Bush was in office. Funny huh?
-
If Bush was in office... you would be calling this guy a criminal and blaming Bush.

Registration has led to confiscation.
-
Police have already confiscated weapons in NY and in LA. In NY they used the registration rolls to track down the weapons in question. So, it is not a "ridiculous scenario that will never happen" I assume you would have no problem with the real ID that has been proposed? And this is why the FF included the 2nd. An honest Govt has nothing to fear from an armed citizen.
