OK, so I'm not the first one who found the exit to be a challenge. Nice to know

I am fairly new to RW, but I really want to be good at it. It's fun

I understood as much from your previous posts, and I of course respect that. I just think it is healthy to have these two references both mentioned when one is brought up. HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...

Since people have started throwing around quotes, I think it is in order to remember what Laplace answered Napoleon, when he asked why there was no mention of God in his new book on Astronomy: And I tend to agree with EricTheRed that the christian deity might not accept the Pascal way of worship. Hey, there's nothing there about your genitals and the mouth of the animal. The only question is, which animal you would trust to give you a blowjob. HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde... -
Not being an expert I will say that I load a Spectre 210 at approx. 1.1, and I have to wrap the steering lines several times around my wrists to stall it. I wrote PD-support to ask if this was OK, or if I needed to shorten the brake line length. Here's their reply: Kim, PD-Support Not the same canopy or wingloading, so take it for what it is... Denmark. It was introduced slowly. In the beginning it was only students. Then at some point riggers were told they could not approve new rigs for jumping in DK without an AAD. Some years later it was made mandatory for everyone. HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...

The pilot chute is packed inside the container. It contains a large spring. The container is kept closed by a piece of wire (ripchord) going through the loop (where the closing pin is normally situated). On the end of the ripchord there's a handle. You pull the handle, the spring propels the PC out of the container. You are left holding the handle

Just mount lasers on the skydiver to continuously monitor the exact distance to the ground, and hook it up to an AAD, or put radio transmitters on the ground to let an AAD calculate its position relative to the ground plane, or...

What is your favourite part of skydiving?
rasmack replied to Orange1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
This is actually a really good question. However, I don't think I can answer in so general terms. There are several parts of the skydive that are highlights for me, but don't ask me to prioritize. The Exit: When I sit on the step and prepare for my exit I really feel alive. The second where I make the decision and leave the plane is a culmination of a lot of preparation and excitement. "Will my dive plan work?". I simply love that moment. Falling: The freefall is adrenaline as well as pure old-fashioned good fun. Nothing like hanging in front of a buddy with a huge grin. Flying: Here the focus shifts from perfomance to relaxation. I could just hang up there forever (OK, maybe I should go paragliding). Is there anything like enjoying the view while flying a smooth pattern? Landing: Oh well. I'm still a newbie, so every landing is different. But I must say, I do just love it, when I manage to time my flare to bring the canopy to a stop at exactly the right altitude, so I can just put my feet down and start setting the half brakes -

He he. Know a guy who did that. Only problem was, he was hanging from the wing strut (C-172). Imagine what happens when you let go with one hand to give the V-sign...

I read a lot of posts in here about people having bad experiences when visiting a DZ. I thought I would do the opposite. I recently moved to Geneva, Switzerland for a period of five months. As you can see from my profile I am not a very experienced jumper. Geneva is right on the French border, and the nearest DZ happened to be Parachutisme74 in Annemasse. I showed up and was given a friendly and thorough briefing. That day I had three good jumps. Next time I showed up several weeks later I was immediately greeted. They even remembered my name. One of the instructors even remembered that I had asked about being checked out for RW, as this is a separate "licence" in Denmark as well as in France. Before I knew it he had booked a slot on a load with me and we did a checkout dive. The next day he asked me on a tracking dive he was doing with people on the same level. The most incredible part of the story is that when I asked how to pay for the coach jump he just said not to think about it. He "knew what it was like to come to another country and jump". I must say that I have felt nothing but extremely welcome there, and I realize that I'll be owing beer big time there for a while for that reception. I just hope that I will remember to treat people like that when I end up in that end of the "food chain". This just a reminder to remember to share also positive stories when you have them.

Legally, it does not. They are clearly not under the GC, thus they don't get benefit of the doubt. Is that morally right...that's up for debate. But it is absolutely legally right. The fact that you think there is no doubt, does not make it so. Well who cares what their opinion is? They're not there, they have no idea. And secondly, this is America, we don't just let foreigners tell us what to do.... Excuse me? Noone is "telling you what to do". Once you signed that convention it became according to your constitution the "law of the land". Apparently the rule of law does not apply when it is inconvenient. And btw if the Red Cross aren't there, I'd like to know why. The US are obliged to provide access to the occupied territories as well as to POWs. I'm sorry to respond so slowly, but I am in Switzerland... So did I but it was already becoming a rather lengthy post. I am sorry for not having said this clearly, but this is not for you or me to decide. I was pointing out that until their status is decided by a "competent tribunal" they are per definition POW's in the sense that they shall be under the protection of the convention. Uhmm I think I missed the hearing on this matter... Until these hearing are held, it is illegal. A central question in this hearing would be the standard by which you define "fixed sign recognizable at a distance", and "customs of war".
