  1. There is. You can get an FAI sporting license. It comes in handy when travelling. However it will never replace a national license, so you still need to choose between a (my guess from your post) Dutch and an American license. 2. No, it's the weight behind it HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...
  3. That being said, I must say that my worst period of fear was around jump 6-10. I won't say I was terrified. Then I would have ridden the plane down, but the night before going to de DZ I would sleep poorly, dream about malfunctions and generally be uncomfortable. In the plane I would be very nervous. It suddently subsided. Make up your own mind. If you don't feel like jumping, you will at least have tried it. Furthermore you got out before it got expensive . A rig is an expensive toy. 4. In Denmark there is a separate rating called "Reserve packer". We often have one of those on the DZ. They are trained in knowing the equipment, but they are not allowed to tinker with it except for AAD-installation (and reserve packing of course). I often consult with them. As for riggers we don't have any at all. It is about a one-hour drive to the nearest one. 5. You wanna go up to that altitude with the door off?! ltdiver If it was a commercial airliner it probably still has oxygen masks. It would also allow you to cool the beer for later. Just put the case somewhere near the door HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...
  6. Have you encountered a DZ that does this? HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...
  7. It is clearly a physics experiment. Note the skis on the bottom. You put it down in the snow, position yourself on top of the thing and depress the trigger. Conservation of momentum should give you a "rocket"-propelled sleigh. HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...
  8. If I recall my christianity lessons correctly (yep, we don't teach children religion but "christianity") then Jesus himself chastised a disciple for needing to see the holes in his hands in order to believe. And you now talk about proof... HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...
  9. Very true. I have scraped a lot of 19 year old Americans off the floors, when they have come to Denmark. That does not however give her the responsibility of what may have happened to her. 10. Well, they're right aren't they? Anyone can make a book of morals. If you boil the Bible and christianity down to that, then there's no difference to any other religion. HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...
  11. so, you want a laptop, but nowhere in your specifications do you mention why. Do you just want a desktop replacement, that does not take up too much space, or is portability an issue? I have done all of the things you mention on my little X300 with which I am very happy, but in buying that portability was the most important consideration. If you just want a desktop replacement that can on occasion be moved, I say go for it
  12. Have you by any chance been reading this book? Edit: Clicky corrected HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...

  14. I am now a convert. I truly believe that we should teach alternative theories of creation. My current favourite is that of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. How long will it be before the Kansas School Board adopts this in the curriculum alongside Genesis and the Thoroughly Unproven Just-A-Theory Of Evolution-That-Would-Have-Us-Descend-From-Apes? Whoops. Did I forget to put in the -tags there? HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...
  15. Which is why the question posed was not really relevant. HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...
  16. I know what you meant. It was just nice to get it spelled out, for whoever might dig up this post some day. I have no problem admitting that I might one day f*ck up badly. I hope it doesn't happen, but better safe than... dead. HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...
  17. String theory is better at explaining the varieties of elementary particles and their interactions than the Bible. Not much better though HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...
  18. My own take on this not quite decided Nuclear weapons were a well known possibility at the time. Someone would have made them sooner or later, so "better us than them" The Japanese islands were heavily defended. Invading forces would have had to beat down resistance in every single village. However the death toll was approximately three times that of Dresden which in my mind is one of the most horrific moments of the war. I cannot help thinking if it was really necessary to sacrifice that many civilians. 19. You make it sound like people who "fuck up" deserve to die. I hope we agree that we are all prone to fuck up some day for no reason at all. I for one choose to stack the odds in my favour, should that happen. HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...
  20. Jeez Bill, would you put some quote tags around that? You nearly gave me a heart attack. HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...
  21. Fair enough. I believe it to be a chunk of rock/ice Pluto is 40 times further from the Sun than Earth. 2003UB313 at times is three times that further away. It is nowhere near us. As for the deviation from the ecliptica and the eccentricity of the orbit they are just arguments that neither Pluto nor this new object should be designated as planets... Oh, and the thing about the planet going "the other way", I haven't seen anything to indicate a retrograd orbit. 22. Someone has to say this. It is OK, as long as it is my girlfriend HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...
  23. Don't forget to watch NASA TV (but don't steal my bandwidth
  24. You know very well that is not football. You are talking about American football which is a game designed for commercial breaks. Du solltest dich schämen für sowas zu schreiben! As for what real football is, you (as in "the rest of you") can look Here or Here. 25. So, today is the 60th anniversary of the bomb over Nagasaki. Was it necessary? 74.000 killed. 75.000 wounded. Was it worth it? HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...
