I can understand your desire to know everything before you commit to anything, but the internet is not the place to pick up knowledge for your first jump. An FJC is. Trying to learn everything over the web and then have to re-learn (probably) something slightly different will just get you confused. On your first jump you will have enough on your mind. You do not need the added confusion of a thousand different opinions on (for example) the art of flaring your canopy. Oh and btw, I am quite confident you will be shown the pictures you asked for with thorough explanations from competent instructors. They have enough good gear for you to rent. Don't worry. They are just playing it safe. As for Kevin, he is a terrific instructor. He talks a lot, but pay attention to what he is saying. You will learn a lot. I really appreciated the time he took to talk to me, and give me some input. Scary f***ing s**t. I am duly impressed with your handling of the situation as well as with the equipment that was able to bring you down safely even after a partial failure like this. In from Denmark, so this probably isn't really relevant for you personally, but for the sake of completeness... I called up my insurance company to ask what it would cost me to have my disability + life insurance extended to include skydiving. The answer was, that I would not have to pay anything extra, and if I would like them to send me an updated policy?

Well, gammas are not that dangerous precisely because they pass right through you. What is really dangerous is alpha and beta radioactive dust that makes its way into the body. I could perhaps understand this as a means to remove radioactive dust but that is about it. It is a long know fact, that filght attendants and ailrline pilots receive substantial amounts of radiation, but they operate at roughly 30000 ft for many hours at a time for a number of years. I think it is quite safe to assume that radiation damage is the least of your worries when jumping out of a perfectly good airplane HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...

The Danish crown prince has done at least a couple of skydives. I am not sure his mother approved HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...

Come to think of it, I think we still have student rigs with that canopy combination at our DZ. Maybe a local DZ wants extra canopies. Just a thought... HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...

You have of course checked the DZ-list for Germany here at dz.com I don't know any German DZ's, but feel free to cross the Danish border. The two nearest Danish DZ's seem to be: http://www.albatross.dk/ http://www.springud.dk/ HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...

I think it would have been way more funny to sneak in German as the official language -
As a Scandinavian I am proud to present the solution to the classical argument between creationists and scientists. The creationists win. Just not in the way they envisioned: Clicky! You will experience some fatigue if you decide to jump a lot in very short time. I recently got my license. I got 14 jumps in three days, after having been jumping for a year and a half. These were the most concentrated days of jumping for me ever. I was pretty beat up at times, but I could have gotten on more loads. I just chose not to. If you try to pull it off, please listen to yourself. Stand down from a load, if you're feeling unconcentrated. That being said, I packed my own chute for every jump and took plenty of time to talk to instructors. It is doable. On another note. I live in Denmark. I am used to bad weather. If you life anywhere near a DZ, I have trouble believing you will not get those 19 jumps. You're in no hurry. On a regular day at my home DZ (one Cessna 206) I rarely get less than three jumps. Have fun

I would believe it if you had said 42 jumps on the Sabre on this line set. 42 jumps in 10 years on a very mainstream canopy that should be easy to sell?!? If I were you, I would have a rigger all over this rig for a very thorough evaluation before contemplating putting any money down. Easy now. Just playing the Devil's advocate here Cut-away can be practised in a hanging harness. It is pretty hard to train landings that way

Would you take legal liabilities as an instructor? Would you take legal liabilities for not teaching life-saving techniques? HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...

Oh well, where I come from, it is unheard of that anyone gets any money what so ever. This includes TMs, pilots and instructors. That being said, if you ask an instructor on a jump, you pay the slot. I should say that this is a skydiving club (like most DZs in Denmark) and not a commercial DZ. how did you find stability in the air?
rasmack replied to superman0710's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I got a video from a jump where I kept turning slowly, and sure enough I did not do, what I thought I did. My left knee kept dipping and my legs where too far apart. Practising the arch on the ground feels different than doing it in the air. Oh, that and a lot of jumps HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...
