Collapsable Pilot Chute on a Sabre 190. Thoughts?
rasmack replied to Big_Red's topic in Gear and Rigging
Allow me to add this, as someone who was recently the gear-buying novice. When I was bying, I asked any instructor I could find about choice of canopy. I mostly heard a 210 mentioned but some said 230 and some said 190. I could have gone with the 190 (as they are easier to find used) but I ended up deciding on 210. When I finally had something to demo I walked up to an instructor and gave him my exact weight and asked him if he had any problems with me jumping a 210. My point is that many an instructor will just look at you, try to guess your weight and fling out a number. To be fair to the instructor I need to be very specific in my questioning. At least I wouldn't want to be the instructor who comes up with a guesstimate over a beer only to see his student show up the next weekend with this "fantastic bargain" that is only "slightly smaller than your recommendation. Never mind that the reserve is even smaller." HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde... -

Get a cute looking chick as your dentist. Mine more or less rubs her boobs in my face while working. Wonderful pacifier. Which reminds me, it's about that time again

F*ck you (and I mean that in the nicest way possible). It's snowing here!!! HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...

Just replying to the original post here. I have only posted one review of a DZ. I would never review my home DZ and I would be hesitant to review any DZ in my own country as there would always be an implicit comparison with my home DZ. Had we been talking over a beer, we would now have stuff to talk about for the rest of the night. HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...

Fair enough. If I come off a bit strong it is just because i worry. -
That's right. Look on the bright side.

Unfortunately I think that the data will be completely dominated by statistical fluctuations, especially when considering the smaller or less active DZs. Edit: This is good as it means there are few fatalities. HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...

How cute. Do I have to ask your permission to post in other threads? You caught the sarcasm. Good for you. You misunderstood it, however. I was merely saying that perhaps this is one of those things you should make time for. As for my student status, I get a decent salary on my three year contract with the university, so I am not complaining. What was your point in mentioning it? OK. Guess you've got to prioritize in your busy schedule. *sigh* HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...

1.21:1 is not "just" above 1:1. If you look at Brian Germains most recent chart for suggested WL he puts you on a canopy of 220-230 as a minimum, while the recommendation is 230-260. I reemphasize that you can fit a 210 into your J4 as well as a 218 reserve. I have a Spectre 210 + PD-R 218 myself in a J4. It is possible. You should never buy gear for your future skill level but rather for your present. Well, maybe you just bought your gear a wee bit early then... You have the right to be sentenced by a jury of your peers. You don't think that right involves an obligation to step in on the other side of the table if needed? You don't think that right is worth some of your time? HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...

Does anyone have the numbers to renormalize these numbers by total jumb numbers at each DZ? It would also be of interest to compare with the national/international totals. Actually the first exercise should be to figure out which countries are more dangerous than others. If your profile is correct I would focus on a larger main. A 210 will fit in your J4. See this article for more info on canopy choices. Sorry for not answering your question. No no, it is the other way round. You shelter the masses from having to know anything about... (checks profile) geochemistry. They can rest assured that someone somewhere know something about this. Seriously though, it seems that many people think that research is not a "real job". Thay are probably just jealous that you can get away with doing what you think is interesting. You are thus (in their view) "sheltered" from having to find a "real" job. HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...

Skydiving is not a commercial activity everywhere. Skydiving in Denmark consists of skydiving clubs and a national assocation. We, the members appoint our representatives. They put down a framework for us to work in. Your "his business" argument really only holds water where there is a "business" that "belongs" to someone. Hmm... I am a bit puzzled by finding Russia and Tanzania at the bottom of that list. Furthermore I honestly would not have thought to find EU-countries in top 10. Is there any list showing exclusively foreign debt? HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...

Just curious... WTF got into you? You have been known to fire off a remark or three, but this seemed like a deliberate attempt to get banned. HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...
