Does Human Rights = Constitutionally protected rights?
jgoose71 replied to jgoose71's topic in Speakers Corner
Does that include giving illegal aliens the right to bear arms? Even if they have MS 13 tattoos all over their face? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything -
Does Human Rights = Constitutionally protected rights?
jgoose71 replied to jgoose71's topic in Speakers Corner
Just throwing the question out there to see where everyone stands on the issue. I made it yes or no on purpose because I know everyone would say "yes" to some and "no" to others. Keep in mind some constitutionally protected rights are the right to bear arms and the right to vote. The right to a lawyer and a trial are also constitutionally protected, but do they necessarily have to apply to people that are here illegally as the current administration seems to assert? Let the arguing begin. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything -

Burger King: This is how a "Tax Inversion" works
jgoose71 replied to jgoose71's topic in Speakers Corner
The Party of No seems to have zero problem spending lots of money. Considering that the POTUS can't spend a cent without the House letting him. The President is addicted to spending. And the House GOP is his greatest enabler... In this case we have to put it on the president and Harry Reid. Nothing makes it to the president to be signed without the Senate's approval. Harry Ried won't let anything come up on the Senate floor unless it's a bill that will make the liberal base happy. Meanwhile we have the president standing in front of America talking about how the tea party is a bunch of terrorists and the republicans are the party of no. John Boehner has agreed to a lot of spending just to get bills through the senate to the president and fight the "party of no" stigma, and has suffered tremendously in his own party to do it. It's either that or let the president continue to bad mouth the republicans from his loud microphone we call the white house (like its done any good) with a complicent media that does not question anything that comes from his mouth. Hopefully republicans will take the senate next election and we'll see taxes and spending come down. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. How was Bush better than Obama / How is Obama better than Bush
jgoose71 replied to wmw999's topic in Speakers Corner
There really is 2 ways to judge Obama, foreign and domestic policies. On foreign policies, I would give him mixed reviews. His withdrawal from the foreign arena has left some voids that have been filled with some real assholes, but at the same time, the U.S. cannot afford to continue as the world police. If other countries (especially Europe) have any real interest in world peace, they are going to have to step up. The U.S. cannot continue to fund the world in this respect. On domestic issues, he has been a complete failure. The over implementation of regulations and extremely high corporate taxes has driven jobs overseas. And his divisive politics has put the rift between the democrats and the republicans at an all time high and race relations at an all time low. Being the cool kid in high school and college does not necessarily qualify you to run a country. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. When Obama took office the debt was around 10.6 trillion, now after 5 1/2 years of Obama leadership with 2 1/2 years to go, we are at over 17 trillion. What was that about responsibility? If I'm reading this correctly, the error in question is cooler than expected temperature readings from a geo-location. Are you suggesting that mother nature made a weather mistake that needs to be ignored? My point was that scientists still don't know all the factors that affect the weather. According to global warming alarmist the sky has fallen 3 times now. They don't know if the data is important or not, therefore, it cannot be ignored. But I understand why they do it It makes it look like the sky is falling and gosh darn it, they need money now to figure out why. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. I think right now the larger question is, is it even an error that needs correcting? From what I understand about climate scientists, this is a valid question. When we answer that question, the rest will become apparent. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Sounds like a great plan. Let's take every "fat cat" in the U.S. we don't like and kick them out and tell them to take their money and their jobs with them. Tell me how it works out. Well, as a country we just lost a bunch more tax revenue. Why does the left keep fighting tax reform? Their response is to make this stuff illegal, but business will find loopholes, or, pay a congressman to write in a loop hole. The interesting part is that Warren Buffet is financing 25% of the transaction. A while ago I heard Obama talking about Economic patriotism. It sounded a lot like Jimmy Carter's "Malaise Speech," for those of you that remember it. Here is a new term that the left (obviously not talking about Warren Buffet in this case) should learn, "fiduciary responsibility." http://www.forbes.com/sites/greatspeculations/2014/08/29/burger-king-tim-hortons-cross-border-merger-much-more-than-tax-inversion/ "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. This is a public service announcement to all women. If you have a dream that your Significant Other is cheating on you, do not immediately wake up and pick a fight or be angry at him. It was a dream, it was not real. It is irrational to be pissed off at someone for your runaway imagination. If you want him to get out of bed and bring you a cup of coffee and make waffles, just say so. You don't have to pick a fight to make him do out out of guilt. Really!

Some clarification here. You seem to be arguing that because this 6' 4" 300 lb guy was unarmed, could never be a big enough threat to anyone to warrant being shot. Yet you are a supporter of the 2nd amendment. What would warrant the use of lethal force to you? If a guy was attempting to beat and rape you, would you shoot him even if he was unarmed? Hey, in fairness to affable Joe, he was just following the lead of his immediate predecessor. But his predecessor fired his shotgun at a colleague. Not really a colleague. Cheney is not a lawyer, but his victim is a lawyer. That's kind of like shooting Jesus Christ. Think a LOT about lawyers - eh? Or as I prefer to call them, "The guys you hate until you have to hire one" Is that how it's supposed to work? I didn't start to hate them until after I had to hire one... I'm sure they have. The people here on Dizzy.com know him really well i'm sure. Part of the problem with the world now a days. Telling people what the police have reported is now "soliciting an angry response." Truth is not what everyone wants to here and may even go against their narrative, but it still needs to be put out. And if not "strong armed" how else would you describe the robbery? He was unarmed and just basically started tossing around anyone who got in his way or tried to stop him. What would you say he did to the store clerk if not strong arm him? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Except for he wasn't described as a violent rogue cop, the kid is on video robbing a store, and the fatal shot was to the front of the head.... I'm trying to stay to what has been in the news and is somewhat credible. Not pull shit out of my ass. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. I wasn't comparing packing granny to mistake making skydiver. Yes you were. No-one claims that they skydive to make themselves safer. I did. As a military jumper I spent much time at civilian drop zones to make sure I stayed proficient. 4 jumps a year just doesn't do it. YMMV. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. I don't have a source for the exact quote above. This is just information that I have been able to piece together slowly watching the news. Also add, the cop had his guard down because he didn't know that the guy was wanted for just pulling off said robbery. He was just going to ask the guy to stop walking down the middle of the street for safety reasons. He was initially thinking the guy might have been drunk or something. We have conflicting reports on what happened during the shooting. We are still waiting to see if the cop shot him out of revenge, or the guy actually turned and started taunting and charged the cop. I know that they still need to have a trial, or at least the proceedings up to one, that is why everything is being held so close, but at the same time it's also allowing rumors to run rampant. I wouldn't expect the riots to end anytime soon. Eddited to add: Looks like Chanman found a source. -

YOU WILL COMPLY... BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM I feared for my life In all fairness, the "unarmed teenager" was 6' 4" over 300 lbs and caved the right side of his face in trying to wrestle away his gun while he was in the car right after pulling a strong armed robbery of a convenience store. YMMV. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything -
Double-Talk, noun 1: language that appears to be earnest and meaningful but in fact is a mixture of sense and nonsense 2: inflated, involved, and often deliberately ambiguous language Synonyms bafflegab, doublespeak, gobbledygook (also gobbledegook), rigmarole (also rigamarole), song and dance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XHCM7t1fkc I've read the article. If you can't see it for what it is, I can't help you. If you bought into this article and think that the economy runs on luck, you are in over your head. You could always listen to those who are not doing it. They live in the 'burbs and write letters to the editor when they feel disenfranchised. Deal with it. I am not the one who has a problem with THOSE people... Deal with it You don't have a problem with the people destroying private property and stealing? That is who we are talking about here. Good to know. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything -
I always love these posts. Everyone loves to bitch about bad cops, but ask them to enact any reforms to get rid of them and you get blank stares.
