I can give ya lotsa reasons why they won't. Care to guess? I'll play: China needs us to buy their crap more than we need their money. It's all fun and games until they stop providing microchips for all of our military equipment... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 47 People shot in chicago over the weekend. WHAT A SUPRISE!!!
jgoose71 replied to regulator's topic in Speakers Corner
Yes, really hard. Gee, I have to walk a whole 2 blocks from my house to find an ad for CCW training. Then after you complete the training you have to do a back ground check, get signed off by the police chief, make a payment to excersize your constitutional right, write an essay justifying why you need (not just want) to excersize your constitutional right, and then get stabbed to death waiting for approval. Hillary "My speech is my interview" Clinton has finally agreed to do an actual interview that will involve questions!!! I guess after months of keeping the press at arms length the optic of corralling the press with ropes during the 4th of July parade in New Hampshire was so bad that she had to concede to this. http://www.baltimoresun.com/entertainment/tv/z-on-tv-blog/bal-nothing-funny-hillary-clinton-roping-the-press-20150706-story.html However, I wouldn't get to excited yet. The hand picked chosen reporter is Brianna Keilar. For those of you that don't know who she is, she is the one that said because she was stuffing a Chipotle Burrito in her mouth, she is standing up for all America. She also just recently attended a wedding for one of Hillary's Aides. She is apparently close with the Hillary campaign. http://www.mediaite.com/tv/full-disclosure-cnn-anchor-wholl-interview-hillary-recently-attended-clinton-aides-wedding/ So, we'll see just how hard hitting the questions are. I personally am looking forward to such questions as: "So just how racist are the republicans?" "How evil are big corporations?" "Tell me about the milk and honey that will flow from big government to the little people after your coronation." And on the lighter side: "Will you ask Bill about advice for pardoning the Thanksgiving Turkey?" "Will you go with a Pants-suit or a dress for your coronation?" Yup, we are all looking forward to it.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." COOL.. more cancer and brain damage for everyone downwind from those plants... woo hoo... Cull the poor....... Poverty kills more kids than brain cancer from these plants. Every time the EPA enacts a new rule, more kids go into poverty. Think of the children. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Jersey woman stabbed to death waiting for Gun Permit
jgoose71 replied to jgoose71's topic in Speakers Corner
People do stupid shit to get themselves killed all the time. that does not mean that you punish everyone for it. The path you are walking down looks just like the scene at the end of "iRobot" where everyone is locked down for their own protection. Try as you might, you can't wrap the world in bubble wrap for everyone's safety and sooner or later everyone dies. It's just a fact of life. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Edward Peruta V San Diego County: Conceal Carry
jgoose71 replied to jgoose71's topic in Speakers Corner
Correct me if I'm wrong, but a year and a half ago Open carry (as long as the gun was unloaded) was legal in Cali. Just recently that was banned. With the direct threat (or what-ever they called it) requirement for a conceal- carry permit, you couldn't get a permit without showing a heightened danger to yourself. With both open carry and concealed carry essentially banned from the average person, this is equal to an all out ban which has been ruled unconstitutional. I do believe this is the premise for the lawsuit. (Even if the lawyers don't admit it, the judges kept asking about it.) "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Jersey woman stabbed to death waiting for Gun Permit
jgoose71 replied to jgoose71's topic in Speakers Corner
The man out weighed her by 100lbs, was a little bit crazy, and had a knife. What would you consider a "practical alternative?" Semantics aside on whether I chose the best phrase (maybe I didn't?), I've not had military or tactical training, so I'll defer to professional experts in the field such as TriGirl and Winsor. Their posts seem instructive. Not to mention the fact that MOST guys I'm regularly in contact with also outweigh me by 100 lbs. My post still stands. No, this woman did not have a firearm. No, she did not have any other tactical training (that we're aware of -- or even firearms training that we're aware of). I've also escaped from a relationship with a guy who would probably was capable of going this far, had I stuck around much longer (well before I had any of this training). I say all this because it goes to show that I've been there, and still insist simply having a gun would have given her very little increased chance for survival (or taking him out with her). Bottom line -- he wanted her dead. He could have chosen from a long list of ways to make that happen, and she could have chosen from a long list of ways to mitigate that. Would a firearm have helped her if he had messed with her car? Set an IED? No. Could it have helped her in the situation that actually went down? Yes, it is possible; but not probable. To imply (as the headline did) that the SOLE reason he was able to kill her was because she was still waiting for a permit is, as I said before, both absurd and irresponsible. Well, I would submit to you that if she had been allowed to get her firearm in a reasonable amount of time (which would have allowed her time to train, 2 months waiting remember) it would have increased her odds of survival, if even a little. As it sits now, she's dead. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything -
Edward Peruta V San Diego County: Conceal Carry

The Ninth Circuit just got through hearing the arguments. Here is the video for those who can stand listening to 1 hour 14 minutes of legalize (I listened to it because I wanted to get a better understanding of the legal precedents the courts have been using in their cases...) http://www.ca9.uscourts.gov/media/view_video.php?pk_vid=0000007886 What was interesting hearing was that both sides conceded that open cary and concealed carry were not constitutionally guaranteed rights, the right to carry for self-defense was. And that even though you have the right to carry, the government has the right to regulate. I wonder how this is going to turn out.... Me personally, I believe in constitutional carry, but that is how I grew up. Listening to my rights being legislated away was terrible. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Liberal Media, The Media of Peace and Tolerance
jgoose71 replied to jgoose71's topic in Speakers Corner
I don't get it. Guns are just an inanimate object. Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Are you afraid the gun is just going to jump of the poster and kill Ted Cruz? I don't know. Ask the liberal media that made the big hoopla over Sarah Palin's states that she was "targeting" during her campaign. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. So why play along? The media can only affect your thinking if you let them. Me personally? I don't. But as we all know that are a lot of weak minded fools in America that are easily influenced by the 10 second sound bite. Democrats refer to them as "Useful Idiots." I'm not saying that he needs to be admitted and disarmed by force, but at this point he needs help. Since the Trayvon Martin incident he has had a price on his head. That can do a lot to someone's psyche and no one seems to care, well, at least any one that can do something about it. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. It's real easy to say "the left" when that is where 99% of the media is. You go to any media outlet, other than Fox News, and you almost get the impression that George deserves to have a hit put on him by the New Black Panther Party. "Left" and "right" are becoming more and more pronounced as the country becomes more polarized, and the media has to take a huge brunt of the blame. It's of their making. I'm conservative on some issues, liberal on others, but in today's climate, I come off a conservative all the time. Thank you liberal news media.... Ya think? Every time he sees George he feels the need to shoot at him. My big question for a while now is why hasn't George been committed to a mental hospital yet. From the very beginning from the original shooting, where he was forced to defend himself, he has been under constant death threats. Then the very public melt down in his relationship. And things haven't ended there, now this. As a combat veteran I can tell you that he has displayed all the classic signs of PTSD. At this point I'm amazed that he can still function, it that is what you want to call what he is doing. With the left constantly crying about mental health issues, why are his being ignored? Especially if he is carrying a gun? You would think he is the guy they would want to take a time out for a while? Or does the left secretly hope that he will just get dead. The left being anti-death penalty, if he gets killed on his own it's not their fault. Did they miss the warning signs? Oh well, oops.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. That has nothing to do with it. It's all white privilege. Everything is handed to you on a silver platter if your white. Check your privilege.... That is absolutely uncalled for. I would have expected better of you. Shame. Jerry Baumchen Hey Jerry, You have to understand what Kallend is saying hear: You see Kallend is a rich 1%er college professor hidden away in his university's ivory tower where he can be filtered from such riffraff. Also, his extremely large paycheck that is given to him by his students that are running up hundreds of thousands of dollars in student debt allow him to live in a neighbor hood free of "those people." Edited to add: Because everyone can afford to live where he does.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. I'm having a hard time with this one. They don't even know who the shooter is yet and they are declaring it a "hate crime." Now, this is South Carolina, the shooter was white, and the Church was a primarily black church, so it is a 90% safe assumption, but at this point it's still an assumption. Or are we just all-in for a race war? Screw it, beam me up Xenu, I'm done with this planet.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. Was she the best candidate for the jobs? Did the organization benefit from her leadership? Were they happy with her performance prior? If yes, why does her personal life matter? Because she is not black. In the name of equality we have to insert race every chance we get. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. I do see your point. Identify yourself however you want as long as you don't use that identification to fraudulently receive gains meant for some else.... The problem, however, is that the country has divided its self so much legally and socially that it's pretty hard to do now a days. So many different special programs for women and minorities that they have crept into just about every aspect of every day lives, to include college applications, job hiring requirements, grants, and social services. Because of all the excess laws and regulations, we are now skirting on the edge of yet another disaster... go figure.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying.
