Obviously BPA feels differently than me! God bless them, and a nanny state organization to boot! I did not know, thanks. I am not an HP pilot, and like I said my feeling may not be worth much. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

My thoughts FWIW (not much). When we talk of "HP" canopy skills we general mean the art of aiming our canopy at the ground in order to gain speed for the fastest and most graceful landing we can manage. There are some truly wonderful people doing truly wonderful things along these lines, and I love to watch them. But it is a black art. It is so unforgiving of mistakes that no sanctioning body such as USPA will ever publish a methodology for learning these skills, nor should they, as it would encourage even more people to do it. Indeed, what the population in the sport generally does is discourage this activity. Also as it should be. There is no truely safe way to learn it, just ways of lowering the risk. If you want to follow this path, you will need to find willing mentors, or unsanctioned "schools". Good luck and be safe. I do most of those things as well, but they are still mostly passengers. Go look at the advertising your DZ does to attract tandems. They advertise rides, not lessons. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

............................................................................ No! USPA shouold nt lower pre-levels before jumping hand-cam. New TIs need a least 100 tandem jumps - to burn basic survival skills into longer-term memory - before adding any more gadgets (e.g. cameras). There is a LOT of learning going on on those first 100 jumps. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

They are a student not a passenger! 1) Experience has not shown a need for a cutaway system for tandem handcam gloves, and I have never seen one. 2) When they ride with me they are mostly passengers. Almost all bucket list types. I may teach them something, but I'm not dishonest enough to tell myself they are students. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. If you don't have a MARD (Skyhook) you have a chance of your reserve p/c clearing the trailing main. If you have a MARD, your p/c will be directly dragged into the mess. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

My feeling is that as valuable as the Skyhook MARD is, the Collins Lanyard itself is even more vital. This is from seeing a main riser break on a Vector 2 tandem rig. Without the Collins Lanyard the chance of this event resulting in a double fatality is large. My strong belief is that any RSL needs one of these devices. BTW, who is Collins? In any case thank you to him and Booth for the double save. Ken Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Thanks for that Paul. Made my day! Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

If I have said something that is incorrect feel free to improve upon what I have said. Other than that perhaps many should know you do a thriving business on e-bay. Bypassing other riggers and selling equipment that you alone have given your stamp of approval. I would imagine if every buyer of equipment wanted to run it by their own rigger, that would really cramp your sales??? That's a question? C I think the kid has a valid point wanting to protect other jumpers. He took the time to post the ad, and quite frankly I agree that it smells. No harm in checking serial numbers, which are missing in this Craig's listing. Is it your ad? I will say that yo have a great e-bay rating however: http://www.ebay.com/usr/likestojump . It's like this Chris. Paul is a dependable used gear dealer with a track record of good reliable service to his customers. He is known on this forum as someone who will occasionally participate in discussions and give reasonable, well thought out valuable opinions. You on the other hand are known to give rambling, partly incoherent, highly biased and opinionated rants with a high level of anger at some meaningless regional politics that you are involved in. Most people here just ignore you. You reap what you sow. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Maybe so. Definitely not And from the111: Ok, because I'm bored here in the frozen north on a Saturday night, I'll bite. The helmet or any other normal object along for the skydive will always have the same mass for the whole jump. But weight and mass are not the same thing. During acceleration it and the weight belt will be weightless. When terminal velocity is reached and you are in a steady fall it will have the same weight as it does on the ground. During opening deceleration it will have an increased weight on your neck. This is my understanding of the basic physics involved. However I am a truck driver with a grade 8 education in my real life, so bring it on. Where am I incorrect? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. -
Maybe so. But how much does it weigh during the deceleration of opening? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Maybe. Unless the puller working quicker causes the loop to go slack which in turn causes the cutter to not cut properly and trap the loop. Oops, another way to die has just been discovered! There are so many already, we don't need new ones. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Which DZ are heaven to work for and DZO aren't crazy???

Aaron, I'm really starting to enjoy your rants. Sort of. At least as much as I can decipher them. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -
Skydiving….Why keep doing it?
gowlerk replied to baRRRpirate's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
By now I think it's mostly a habit. I've built most of my life around it. The best people I know are from the DZ, (and I guess I've met some of the worst there as well, but somehow those ones always drop out before too long.) The original attraction was definitely the excitement. I immediately perceived the sport as something I could do that would give me the high that comes from risk taking, but yet I felt that through understanding the gear, and managing the hazards, could still be reasonably safe. It's like having your cake and eating it too. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -
Lee, Mark, lighten up for crying out loud. Lawyers aren't salivating, there isn't any money in the industry except on the military side and the rules don't count there. John, why are you egging them on? Let's just see if something comes to market. Interpretation of rules comes by common practices. This is a very small pond we are swimming it. Nobody really cares. It is safe. There is no real difference between the new one and the 2001 version. Buy it right away before someone else on this list sees it is available and snaps it up. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Let's just see if the thing works. If it comes to market all you paperwork regulatory guys can obsess over how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

WOW!!! You are the most awesome dude I've ever heard of. Completely drug free and completely education free. I would LOVE to meet you and give you tons of cash to do your cool stuff and pay for you schooling, what an honor that would be. But the problem is that sometime today the mods will notice the inappropriate, off topic thread in this forum and permanently delete it. My loss is SO great. People here would be reluctant to guess publicly. You really need to establish the price by finding out going prices of the components. You should contact a major dealer about a possible trade in, or do the research in the classifieds. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
-
Yeah, what Lee says. I would just add that the price of the container should be low. a) because it is an older design and b) because it is an orphaned product from a no longer active company. (Aerodyne does not support it). Meaning that the resale price you could get for it would also be low. But there is nothing wrong with them. New image stabilization. The Gallus-Cam

AWESOME. I need one now! Thanks for the tip. Who is the dealer? Or do I have to train my own? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free. -
Seriously, the answer to your question is no. Anything I might try would be purely speculative. I would have no way of knowing the effect if any. I can think of no way to ease your mind about this at all. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

I like to see people do this. But please, only do it in front of your rigger. Your reserve and all the parts are nice and safely protected inside your container. If you pull out all your stuff then let it sit around for who knows how long before stuffing it into a gear bag that's now too small because everything is more bulky the chances of damage happening are large. I will measure the ripcord pull force in front of my customer, have them do their EPs, and now measure the force needed to extract the bag with the main still closed. I can't do that if you bring it to me open. Don't bring it to me that way unless you have used it please and thank you. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. I would land pretty much any '80s canopy hooked up that way. My Stiletto? Probably not, and it's a big one. (Although I might anyway) Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.

Crown Prince Cheats Death over Dubai!!!
gowlerk replied to degeneration's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I can understand why you feel that way. But I'd like to say that the guy involved is a very careful and very long time respected jumper. And a camera pioneer who has jumped Betamax systems strapped to his belly in the past. Currently he is our ST&A, and does a great job. He made a mistake and acknowledged it and learned from it. He didn't have to admit the truth to me, but felt he should. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
