Maybe you are a little touchy about criticism of your country. For the record despite it's flaws I see America as a great place filled with great people. It's you, not I, who seems to hold large numbers of Americans in disdain. Also for the record, I do recognize that a large part of what makes Canada great is it's close relationship to it's southern neighbors. I was actually pointing out your embrace of extremes in your life. Like many, you have overcome substance dependence with a substitute. I agree you are better off now than you were then. I do a solo recurrency jump every year after the long winter layoff up here. Long snivel, long boring ride because I open it at 5000 ft. If I signed for it and put my seal on it, I packed it. It does not matter who's hands I used to do it. But if I did use someone else's hands you can be sure my eyes would be watching those hands just as closely as they would watch my own. I have not really looking into this incident and I don't have an opinion on it. But I do want to say that police make descisions about when and where and upon whom to enforce laws all the time, every day. No officer could possibly deal with every infraction all the time. Ride bike on the sidewalk? I'll bet if a white woman had been doing that the officer would have looked the other way. Or possibly asked her not to do it. Not very likely would demand ID. This is what is meant by "white privilege". I'm white, and I see myself benefiting from this all the time. When an LEO sees me, he/she sees someone they can relate to who does not look out of place. So they move along looking for something that attracts their attention. Where I live that will probably be a native person. After a while, these people get fed up with the extra attention.
