  1. Let me say it first. I KNOW YOU ARE BUT WHAT AM I!!!! Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  2. Possibly cat or other pet urine? In any case: http://www.buyactivatedcharcoal.com/odor_control_products Use activated charcoal, several small bags, a couple in each cell. Put it in a plastic bag for a week then dispose of the charcoal. Repeat as needed. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  3. Then, again, if you were being honest you would object to loud religious people far more than loud atheists. Yes, they are more commonly encountered. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  4. No kidding. What really bugs me is that my country treats the Vatican as though it is a nation and exchanges ambassadors with it. Sort of like having official relations with la cosa nostra. Shouldn't the RICO laws be applied in the US? Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  5. Chicks dig them. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  6. I suppose that in a thread discussing the existance of God I should expect to have my words subjected to this kind of scrutiny. From the Wiki entry for the word "Atheist" I am speaking in broad terms and the meaning I an ascribing to the word is the broad meaning. The human behaviors that I object to are of those who aggressively object to the beliefs of others and loudly argue that they must change their beliefs. No two people believe the exact same thing. 7. Really? Now you seem to have a bit of a chip on your shoulder. I don't mind having my beliefs questioned. Especially since my main belief is that I don't know. What I don't like is rude people who don't respect other's beliefs. I didn't think you were one of those, was I wrong about that? If someone believes something how can that not be a belief? I believe that my grasp of English is strong enough to know the meaning of the word believe. Therefore that is one of my beliefs. My turn to be didactic. 8. I find people who loudly proclaim the atheism is the only correct belief and who want to prove it "scientifically" to be even more annoying than most religious zealots. Everyone believes something and we all have to respect that. The only belief I do not respect is the belief that everyone must submit or be damned. 9. No line twists, just a high rate of rotation and a heavy load on the loops. She is no wimp and is in good shape. 10. Thread revival notice! On Sunday my wife's docile and dependable Pilot 150 decided to open in a fairly violent spin. She made an immediate decision to cut away and got one handle in each hand as trained. She was unable to pull hard enough to cutaway with one hand, so she used two. That left her fumbling for the other one next. She found it in plenty of time, but it felt like a long time to her. She has never had an RSL and never saw the need for one despite my gentle advice over the last few years. Today she is asking me about MARDS and how they work. She's never shown any interest before. I expect she will be ordering a new container soon. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  11. You are correct, the debate is over. The change to renewables is unstoppable. The deadenders will keep on whining to the grave though.! LOL, the change to renewables will grind to a halt the moment it is removed from the government teat. While, like it or not, fossil fuels will continue to power our economy and our prosperity beyond this century. "Most renewable energy industries are heavily dependent on government subsidies, and without constant taxpayer support, many renewable energy industries cannot survive. Both American and British renewable energy companies have failed when policymakers decrease subsidies. Most wind and solar installations are not cost-effective on the open market, necessitating a never-ending cycle of subsidies. Without the crutch of guaranteed profit from the government, renewable energy industries will have to innovate so that renewables are reliable, efficient and cost-effective. As long as subsidies exist, taxpayers have to support industries that aren't economically viable on their own." http://thehill.com/blogs/pundits-blog/energy-environment/263214-the-hard-truths-about-renewable-energy-and-subsidies Those things are true. But they fail to take into account that the decision to reduce the use of fossil fuels and increase the use of renewable has been made. The fact that the change over will require policies that go against pure capitalist ideology is irrelevant. The key decisions have been made, the wheel is in motion, and you can not stop it. You are making the error of confusing short term costs with long term investments. The money we put into renewables now will contribute to our future success. Deadenders don't like that, but they can't stop it. All you can do is complain about it online, and vote for fellow deadenders. Neither strategy will have much effect on the future of policy. 14. Now that's what I mean when I talk about deadenders. A complete lack of vision and inability to acknowledge obvious change coming down the track. Like a coal powered locomotive, it's coming straight at you. The switch to diesel electric power was resisted by some. Especially fire tenders. You can rail on and on about the change being forced on you. But here it comes, get out of the way. The times they are a changing. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  15. You are correct, and that is largely how I feel. I only use those terms to describe possibilities. They don't represent my beliefs. "I don't know" is actually what I believe. All the rest is just speculation. Why do I call it "God"? Because in every religion God is the creator, and that is my definition of God. Nothing more and nothing less. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  16. I know, the fact that you are not sure says much of what I mean. When I consider the possible existence of "God", I really mean some force or higher power that engineered what I perceive of the universe I live in. My conception of this power is very open ended and in no way resembles any God that any religion would recognize. It's just a recognition that the mystery of reality could have an unexpected answer that could be loosely called "God". In other words, I don't really have a clue, so I will go with the available facts. Which leave room for almost anything. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. 17. It is annoying. I nearly always just close the page and move on. If the link that brought me there is especially interesting I will unblock that page only. But not often. All these companies are struggling to find a new model. We all want free stuff, but nothing that people produce can ever be free. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  18. I agree, God is a human construct and religion is a social construct. Even in past eras, before we gained some technical knowledge of how things work through science, there were people who recognized the folly of believing in scriptures. And understood that these books were written by the hand of man like all our other fables. But they were mostly kept quiet by social forces and the power of churches. We are social animals and religion is a very powerful organizational force. In my mind it is not possible for a "God" such as the biblical one to have created the universe. Even if She did, that still leaves the open ended never ending question of what came before Her. The closest I can come to accepting a "creator" is the possibility that the universe as I understand it has an engineer, or a conductor. I do not assign a human form to Her. I only give Her a gender because it makes pronoun selection easier. In an age where our brightest theorists ponder things like infinite numbers of parallel universes and fantastical realities that humans have no hope of understanding, it is not unreasonable for people to decide to believe in some sort of creator. Also absolutely true. The evidence suggests that our existence is entirely random, and has no meaning or larger point at all. We are just a temporary arrangement of the available molecules and we got here by natural selection. That is nearly as hard to believe as a creator is. And it leads to the ultimate and completely unanswerable question. Not why are we here, but rather, "why is here". Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  19. There is indeed no evidence to support belief in God. Yet a substantial percentage of people profess to believe. They are probably wrong, but it is possible that in some form there is actually a Creator of some sort. We can not know one way or another. It is not possible to be certain. It is not, and I believe it will never be possible for mankind to understand the nature of his existence. God cannot be ruled out. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  20. I feel the question naturally leads to more questions. No matter what answer you choose to believe. A never ending circle of questions that render the first question irrelevant. I'm not sure what you mean by calling such a question "not subjective". I can find absolutely no objective means of determining the answer. Therefore it is subjective. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  21. This arguing for or against God existing is basically the same thing as determining why matter exists. Even if you believe in God you then have to wonder "why does God exist". It quickly becomes obvious that mankind can never understand existence. Those who believe are merely people who have decided to stop wondering before it makes them stark raving mad. If you make the decision to believe it all becomes quite clear and less troubling. On that level faith makes perfect sense. God be with you as She is always with me. See my sig line for more detail on how YOU can be satisfied too. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  22. I was once in the sleeper of a truck on I-94 in Minnesota. It was a team operation and my partner was driving. For some unknown reason the truck left the road and struck a tree in the ditch. The cab of the truck was torn open at the spot where the driver was sitting, and he died probably instantly. I was largely unharmed in the sleeper but it was a hell of a ride. And I was trapped in it for a few moments wondering if I would die in a fire. Lucky for me God only chose to kill my partner that day, and She allowed me to live at least long enough to read your post. I'm not sure what he did to cause God to call him home like that, I'm sure She must of had Her reasons. The reason She spared me was probably so that I could tell the story of what happened to the driver's two teenage sons the next week. I have not yet had that discussion with his three other children who were too young at the time. I hate seeing accident scenes when I'm traveling. And I sure do appreciate the fine men and women who respond to them. I can not for the life of me image myself asking any of them what their religion is. Or why it could possibly matter what sort of believers God placed at the scene to help me or you. I am wondering about this though, In what way is your life different? Nothing in your post indicates any change in your beliefs or behavior. You sound like the same old Ron to me. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. 23. What? Why have I not seen this thread? No way am I going to go though it and read any of the useless arguments in it. I already have the definitive answer. Of course she exists, I made her up myself. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
  24. Wow, just wow. Sex assault in bathrooms will not go up because people pee in the bathroom they identify with. But if you force males who look like females, and females who look like males to use public shared bathrooms that match their papers I'm sure that confrontations and confusion are going to be the result. That could lead to assaults. Always remember the brave children who died defending your right to bear arms. Freedom is not free.
