Trump's appeal is something I can never understand. None of the justifications people use come even close to making sense to me. I can only assume that some people are just attracted to evil things. I suppose we all have some evil within us and that some of us have enough that we are okay with him. I seriously feel this way. If you support Trump you have evil in your heart. And if you think I am American bashing please be aware that there are proportionately nearly as many Canadians who support him and wish we could have leaders like him. It is very disheartening.

Post trump Legal Actions, Including his Enablers
gowlerk replied to Phil1111's topic in Speakers Corner
It is the job of the US electorate. Save yourselves. The R party should have done the job, but it failed due to its inherent greed and hunger for power. Like Smokey Bear always says, only you can prevent wildfires. God bless America. -

Making images of sex with a minor is considered exploitative and is not legal in Canada. The age of consent is 16 (1t was 14 until 2008) for sexual contact that is not considered exploitative. Anyone in any posistion of authority over the minor is prohibited from sexual contact. Contact by those close enough in age is allowable for minors.

I don't much feel a need to do that.

I don't know the joke. But I assume that the south is the weak and submissive wife being dominated by the strong decisive north.

Some people think that a marriage is directly comparable to nation building.
-
Some people would consider that clinging to a false equivalency. Mostly because the comparison is immediately and verifiably false.

If I were to decide on the narrow issue of single use plastic bag bans I would be against them. If you prefer to use reusables more power to you. If you operate a retail store and want to refuse to supply them, more power to you. I don't favour bans. I also stand in favour of more clearly worded questions than the one quoted.

I was telling Brent nothing at all. I was telling Joe what Brent is likely to do. Try to keep up.

Take care of your own backyard first. Remember, the idea is not to solve the whole problem all at once. If BH insists that he needs an F-350 at least his wife might get a Prius and his kids will probably follow her, not their dinosaur dad.

The same way that the other side does it. You repeat it over and over again. It has always worked before and there is no reason it can’t work with this. It sounds plausible and is easy to implement in tiny steps. It is essentially what is being done anyway. It’s only a question of how to present it.

It is no longer fashionable to deny our role in climate change. The new (really old but being brought forward) tactic is to convince the population that it is a done deal and that there is no use wasting resources to try to change it. The beauty of this argument is that it is far harder to dispute. You can’t really prove the effects of making efforts to change. The best answer is to make clear that limiting the damage as much as possible is still worthwhile.

Yes it's true the Confederacy was merely defending "property rights".

We aren't questioning his social skills and ability to get along with others skydivers. We are evaluating the words in his posts and the worldview he expresses here. I'm assuming we are all okay and are all successful contributing members of society. Even the ones you and I block. Which does not include Winsor BTW. Even so, apparently you can never know when a billyvance may in in our midst.

Nylon will not degrade for a very long time. I suppose it could be incinerated, but the gasses produced would be quite toxic. I'm not aware of any recycling done. We don't reuse it it when all that webbing, Cordura and fabric becomes becomes obsolete or out of fashion. I believe the government should mandate that we revert to using cotton, linen and silk.

Thanks

When I have an answer I am not afraid to say so, that’s true. But many of the subjects that come up in this forum do not have answers. Only opinions. I will sometimes give an opinion, but only once. When the thread turns into the same points over and over, and especially when it turns to matters of faith, I find it quite pointless. I reserve the right to jump in with one liners when I feel like it even if it annoys you. Perhaps others object but only you complain. I can live with that.

Good grief, I hope to never feel especially serious. Especially here. Actually what I try to do is keep it light on top with a more serious undertone. It's not that I don't care, it's that I only have the questions not the answers.

At sea and wet eyes? That might explain why you seem to be getting a little salty lately.

The enviro-nazis forced that on us a couple years ago here. Re-usable bags get filthy. During Covid the stores didn't know what to do. Cashiers were not allowed to touch them. I now have to buy plastic garbage bags instead of repurposing grocery bags. And don't get me started on paper straws at takeout restaurants.

Countries almost never break up peacefully. The problem was the south wasn't strong enough to pull it off. And it still isn't.

I think of it as mere common sense.

There was nothing interesting in either one you two's posts. Coreece was making no sense and you were mostly just rude.

It must need a hard re-boot. Or a couple hammer strikes.
