Are you looking at country population density? If so, that could be deceiving. The average density in Canada is very low. But the Toronto area is pretty high. If population density is not playing a big role that would indicate that precautions being taken are working at least somewhat.

Amy comes off as MN nice. But like most of those people she has all the tools. The biggest knock on her that I heard was that she could be "mean" to staff at times. Who hasn't?

There IS a problem with global warming... it stopped in 1998

Did BH annoy you Joe? I completely missed whatever he said! -
There are several teams working both cooperatively and separately flat out on a vaccine. Testing for both safety and efficacy will take a year even if they are immediately successful.

Apparently as the restrictions on the economy are taking effect people who identify as R are starting to feel the preparations are a step too far. I predict enough of them will ignore the restrictions to really mess with the system. Only when things go badly will they take it seriously again. They were a couple weeks ago, but now that it is a pocketbook issue, not so much. https://www.npr.org/2020/03/17/816501871/poll-as-coronavirus-spreads-fewer-americans-see-pandemic-as-a-real-threat

It turns out that the virus is bi-partisan!

I like the idea of a harness that keeps the student six feet away! It reminds me of the old joke about the blind jumper and the seeing eye dog.

Maybe this picture will help . This is the description that goes with it: "We Italians are all watching this on the media now. An Army convoy that is carrying right now the bodies of the deceased people from Bergamo to Modena, 202 Km. The bodies will be cremated there. The family members of the dead couldn’t assist their loved ones in their last hours, they died alone, surrounded by people wearing biohazard suits. Their relatives were notified about the demise by a phone call of the doctor, expressing his/her condolence."

Yup, we already are. Neither of us live in a police state so containment is not going to be 100% effective. As the dying starts to get going there is going to be enormous social pressure to comply. But you are right, we can't hide away forever. That's why I say that eventually we will all come into contact with it. Maybe next year there will be an effective vaccine or anti virals or both. Maybe not. We don't know if it will confer long lasting immunity or not. We don't know if it will mutate and become worse, or kill off the vulnerable and become just a background virus. But we do know that it is a major event and that our reaction is warranted and then some.
-
Best guess is 40 - 60 % in the first wave, which will last months. Everyone will come into contact with it eventually. The reason it feels like an over reaction is that it is just starting and not many people are sick yet. But the economic pain and the disruption is already in nearly full force. Be patient, in 2 to 4 weeks it will all begin to make sense. But if we do it right it will still seem to be a bit of an over reaction. Because if we do the healthcare system will not be overwhelmed. But rest assured, at least a million Americans are going to die from it in the next 18 months. If it is allowed to just run wild the number will be about 4 times that many.
-
Are you late to the party? Or early to the next one? Over reacting? Maybe it will seem so when the death toll fails to reach 0.5% of the population. Which is only 1.5 million people in the US. The economy is going to suffer if we continue over reacting. The economy is going to suffer even more if we don't and the death toll doubles or triples. This is a world changing event. It sucks, but there it is.

Yes, if your loans outstanding are more than 50% of what your assets are worth on the open market the bank is going to see you as shakey. A co-signer may want a sale. But finding a buyer at this time is going to be difficult. If a buyer was available there would essentially not be a problem.
-
Yes, you can never predict what the bank may do under pressure. It mostly has to do with how strong the bank is and what its needs are. And most importantly, how strong they think the borrower is.
-
Banks will need to be flexible. Perhaps interest only payments. After all, if they seize skydive aircraft the market to sell them into will be limited. Advertising can be cut. People will have to hunker down, not all will ride out the storm. There could a flood of reasonably priced assets by mid summer.

Markets down another 5% or so this AM. Boeing down 18% at 104.44. It's probably worth that. US dollar is pounding the Loonie, so I won't be buying any greenback denominated securities!

If Trump wants to help the oil industry he could lean on the Saudis. Other than that is there is nothing he can or will do. It's all talk.

Rand Paul is an important man. And it's most important that people be reminded over and over again just what an important man Rand Paul is. Just ask Rand Paul.

I've had enough. There is enough stress in my life dealing with two parents in two different institutions with closed doors. And a bunch of other covid related problems. I'm going to put you on my ignore list for a while. I just can't handle the trolling right now. -

Dude, this is one of your most messed up angry posts yet. Did you read the story? And since it is from NASA do you believe their position on warming? Willis and colleagues think the glacier is reacting to a shift in a climate pattern called the North Atlantic Oscillation, which has brought cold water northward along Greenland’s west coast. Measurements of the temperatures collected by the OMG team show that the cold water has persisted. There has been a shift in ocean currents. This is caused by the shifting climate. It is shifting towards warmer. I don't know why I'm taking the time to answer your nonsense this AM. I guess it's because it gives me a break from the stuff that's going on that I need to deal with. I'll go back to ignoring it again for now. -
Wouldn't that make Sarah Palin POTUS?

As of this morning SDAZ has a notice about extra cleaning. They seem to be holding out for today anyway.

Bride, bribe either way Trump buys and sells everything in his life. Even with the small editing error normiss is correct.
