That can't possibly work. The driver will not maintain enough situational awareness to take over in a reasonable time. It is not how we work.

Lawsuits will be settled with money like they always are. The government will be settled with money like it always is. "The Public" is not going to revolt over a few dead people. 38,800 people lost their lives in US car accidents in 2019. No one is revolting. My feeling is that the tech will be too expensive and too inflexible for quite a few more years for widespread adoption.

That's funny. In Canada, despite our "socialized medicine", drugs outside of the hospital are not covered by our basic health insurance. Most people with good jobs have some kind of drug coverage through their employment. And that generally covers regular birth control and other medications with a small deductible. But most plans will not cover Viagra. Too expensive and considered a frill.

I never eat at truck stops I have a fridge, a 12 volt oven, a coffee maker, and a large inverter. I shop for groceries and eat healthy. But I sure do see quite a few "extra large" drivers waddling into the restaurant when I stop for fuel! So you are not wrong.

I'm expecting that the US/Canada border will remain mostly closed for several more months. We are also seeing an increase in both infection and stupidity here, but not at anything near the level you have.

It’s easy even for myself to understand the advantages of this so-called mesh network. But would it not also have a potential disadvantage of one faulty node in the mesh bringing traffic to a standstill? Come to think of it each of us driving in our cars today are currently a meshed network.
