That is so cute. A story that has nothing but innuendo, and is even too shy to make an accusation. But somehow it manages to find a "connection" to the evil boogeyman Soros. A company that supplies a company has a board member who is a Lord and also a board member of a charity that gets some funding from the Prince of Darkness. Shit Ron, your people are getting pretty desperate now. The chairman of Smartmatic is Mark Malloch-Brown, a member of the British House of Lords, who also is a member of the Global Board of the Soros-founded Open Society Foundations, The Associated Press reported.

There are no states with counting issues. They are all doing fine. GA is having a recount because it is a close race. There have been no counting issues anywhere.
-
Why? Counting accurately is far more important than haste. Ohio would be a good model to follow. They counted all the mail ins first and had a result on election night. But Trump had 53% there. If it had been closer it would have taken longer. Close votes will not be finalized on election night.

This guy here is being tapped to take over one of Jared's positions. https://theprint.in/health/who-is-dr-vivek-murthy-the-indian-american-who-will-co-chair-bidens-covid-task-force/539732/

What a great idea, pre-proscessing would be. Too bad several R controlled states refused to allow it.

After reading a story yesterday about a problem electric car makers have been dealing with another small snag comes to mind. Namely, the fire danger posed by lithium cells. They have been trying to reduce the small, but worrisome number of faulty cells that end up causing fires. I'm sure that quality control measures appropriate to aviation use can solve the problem. But that will definitely increase the cost of the batteries. Some of the assumptions made in this thread used certain prices of cost per kw/hour for the cells. Like everything else in aviation you can likely count on tripling the price for approved cells with release tags.

There is so much virus both in the US and in Canada now that the vaccine when it comes is only going to shorten the length of the local disease cycle by a small amount. We have blown our chance.

I stopped doing more than skimming it quite a while ago. I am glad that the participants seem to enjoy it. I will say that is has always been a point of contention whether free will exists or not. I long ago came to a personal conclusion that it is another of the things that we can never know. And that it does not matter.

There will be a new movement of election deniers. Similar to birthers or Q adherents. Someone will come up with a new name for the movement. Any ideas? "Stop the steal" is gaining some traction, but I don't think it is short and punchy enough.

In a not surprising move the GA Secretary of State announced this morning a complete physical by hand re-count of the presidential election will occur and be completed in time for Nov. 20 certification. Biden currently leads by 14,000 of 4.9 million votes. This is why paper ballots can not ever be replaced by 0s an 1s in files.

Then they can wait for the Moderna vaccine I suppose. Although some of them may object to supporting Cambridge MA elites. The reality is that the tech behind these modern miracles is international in nature.

Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her body guards. Somewhat more recently.

https://us.cnn.com/2020/11/10/politics/pentagon-policy-official-resigns/index.html Yes, and it is beginning to look more and more like the way a "shithole country" holds "elections". Actually I will take that back a little. The elections, several separate in each state, were held and run remarkably well. With none of the fears of violence and intimidation coming true. It is only the Trump people who are trying to turn the US into a shithole. I still think American democracy is too strong to turn. But good grief, WTF?
-
It is clear that the American right wing in the form of the GOP has been corrupted to the point that they see retaining power as a higher goal than defending democracy.

What was your first jump? And another question
gowlerk replied to Howeller's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
In 1992 I could have done a tandem first jump but I chose a traditional IAD first jump instead. The idea of jumping as a passenger strapped to an instructor with little to no personal control had no appeal to me at all. I wanted to do a parachute jump, not go for a carnival ride. -
Trump is not the only one complaining about unfair rigged contests. Certain Canadians have a similar issue. https://www.thebeaverton.com/2020/11/hundreds-of-leafs-fans-demand-the-nhl-stops-the-steal-of-the-stanley-cup/

I don't read him at all. But I am going to say that the whole mail in ballot thing is potentially a game changer in just who turns out. It could be a strong factor in the upcoming GA runoffs.

Very soon it will get to the point where McConnell will need to tell the POTUS that if he does not start acting honorably he will be in danger of a rapid impeachment.

He looked kind of shaken up there.

I don't understand why any Senator with a safe seat would give it up to become a cabinet secretary. I mean, it completely wrecked Hillary. And look what happened to Jefferson Beauregard Sessions.

You are just going to have to be more patient. We don't know yet which of the many vaccines will be most effective or safe. And we must have a handle on both before widespread distribution. And besides that, just like the Russians with their magic potion, it is going to take time to ramp up production to meaningful levels anyway. The one good thing about the Trump handling of the problem is the investment being made in doing just that even before approval can be given. That will significantly cut the time between approval and availability . The reality is that even if your wish for vaccination to proceed ASAP and the testing come later was granted, it would make only a small difference in the speed that meaningful levels of protection could be achieved in the population. At this point there is not enough to be gained from being hasty and yet still much danger of loss.

I don't know about you, but I'm tired of reading about Miller, DeVos, Barr, and the like.So how about some talk about some new faces. Like Osterholm from MN. https://www.mprnews.org/story/2020/11/09/osterholm-on-biden-coronavirus-task-force
