I will tell you, drenaline, my chest strap loosens all by itself...it has to make it "over the hills" on opening, and once took my bra right along with it...LOL... Seriously, why do people loosen their chest straps? Is there a reason? I took the water training, and they say to do it then, but I always thought it should be tight and fastened. Help? Thanks! Hi, all.... So I have my 2nd post op check today. The stitches have been out for 3 weeks already, and it is 4 weeks to the day that I had the surgery in/on my eye... Dr: (poking the bridge of my nose) how's that feel? Me: Ow. Dr: (poking the top part of my eye socket) And this? Me: Ow. Dr: (Shoving a light up my nose): Hmmmmm... Me: Does that require any response from me? Dr: No. Wiggle your eyebrows. Me: Well, I never could do that before (wiggling them frantically)... Dr. Now, wink at me with that eye. Me: O.K..... Dr (poking the scar): Does that hurt? Me: Um, the scar or you poking my eye? Dr: How about this (pulling my eyelids wide apart) Me: Well, yes, that does hurt. Hey, you're the Dr. who wouldn't give me pain meds, too, right? Hahahahaaa...ow. Dr. Go across the street and get some pictures taken, then come back. (more prodding and even more poking while they Xray my face....yech...).... Me: Hi again. Here's the pix. Dr: Hmmmm.....what have you been doing? I drilled holes in your head 4 weeks ago, how come they're not there anymore?...Huh, you heal fast. Taking any vitamins? Me: No. Dr. Doing anything different? Me: No. Dr: O.K., go jump or whatever. You're fully cleared. But don't land on your face! Me: Yippppppppppppeeeeeeeeeeee!

No, I am not going to take that too personally...I was just making a point that in real estate, you use contracts for a reason. And trying to explain a point using different examples. Sigh. I suppose I didn't make it clear that I operate on a different level in my personal life. My word? If I've offered something for sale, and an offer comes in and I accept it, as long as the check clears, it's sold and gone. If I say somethine will happen, it will. Hi, Richard Well, yes, in certain circumstances, a verbal is as good as a written one, but if you had to go to court to enforce performance of a contract, how would you be able to demonstrate that the contract was made if the other side decided to lie? And in circumstances wherein a contract is typically used, as in real eatate, to NOT use one tends to flaunt "typical and normal" procedures...all which a court looks at when deciding things like this. I mean, look at it in this way: you give an employee a verbal warning that he has violated some rule. It's important that you note his personnel file, right? To show that the warning was made? It can now be argued that this is not a verbal warning, as it was noted into the file, and thus written, instead....for your protection, so that later, you can point to that if needed and say: "well, he was warned".... Between ladies and gentlemen, verbal is good as written. However, I generally protect myself from rakes and rogues, especially in business, and write everything out. Been burned once too many times. I'm glad you haven't, though!

Um, not if an agreed upon contract has been reached. If there is an acceptance of the offer, and consideration has been exchanged, a seller cannot just decide to not sell it to the first buyer anymore. A contract is a contract. The seller should not have accepted the offer if they thought they could get more for their house. Now, there are ways to get out of a contract if need be, but that wasn't the example . However, your example works as long as there is not a contract. However, in this particular situation, I tend to think that yes, Mouth's friend got screwed. But such is life, unless there was a written contract. I also tend to believe in fate - and that karma's a bitch. And that's not wishing ill on anyone. I also believe that things happen for a reason, although we may not know the reason right off. Tell your friend that something better is around the corner, and get him walking around the block... So I gathered. Now, excuse the newbie-ness, but I have some question about socks here. 1. Does the weft and weave of the kind of socks you wear affect your flying? 1a. Is this only applicable to FF, or to RW, as well? 2. If I were to wear old socks when I jump, what sort of difference in performance should I expect? 3. Where do I buy skydive-friendly socks? And if I can't buy them, can they be rented? 4. Why do some people wear socks, and others don't? 5. At what point in my gear check should I insert the "sock check"? 6. How long do socks last, as opposed to, say, a canopy? 7. If I tuck my jumpsuit pants into my socks, will it stretch the elastic, and put me at risk of some sort of sock malfunction? And how do you cutaway from a sock malfunction? 8. Should I inspect other people's socks? 9. Should I ride the plane down if I suspect a sock malfunction, even if I don't think it will bother me in freefall? 10. Where do all the socks go after you put them in the dryer? Thanks for answering. It's only like 95 right now here in Burbank, but the humidity is something like 70%...go outside, and gasp. Nasty smoggy, too. Also under an "electrical use" warning - which means "don't blame us if you get a blackout and we raise your rates" - the escrow which was supposed to close this week won't be closing until at least next thursday - and there's only a wee small number in the checking account....and to top it all off - Parachutist Magazine turned down my latest submission (they turn them all down...)... OTOH, I get to be on ESPN (I think!), and a good friend is coming into town for the weekend, and I don't have headaches anymore and there's some really excellent tequila sitting in my liquor cabinet (it had numbers of the bottle, "limited run" or some such), and I didn't kill any clients this week, either, despite how much I wanted to. So, on balance, not too bad. But I still think Parachutist was totally offbase on this particular article.... There should be a red 1new right next to the word Message on the second line of the location/click bars. Click on the word Message, and you should be taken right in there. However, if you have not enabled "receive messages from users" on your preference page, you won't get it. Should that be the case, go into Edit Profile, and change that preference to the other one. Hey, Jojo... I once heard from a friend of a friend, who heard it from her neice's nephew's uncle's hairdresser's wife's sister-in-law's cousin that..... My point is, if your friend is not a jumper, and hasn't got first hand experience on why this isn't a good DZ, perhaps you should just take a day trip and go check it out for yourself? Go there, feel the vibes, talk to the manager, etc. Firsthand knowledge is the best. Run a search on the 'net and see it's website; check out alternatives.
