Thanks for the info, WFFC. I've not been in that situation other than the EQ 10 years ago here w/ my mom, so wasn't sure, but trying to come up with ideas and ways we can get through this. (I say we because while I am not an instructor, nor did I lose any gear, Elsinore is home...and we are, after all, family...) I just had a thought, and don't know if it will work or not, but can't those who make their living as a jumper go to the SBA and take out a small, low rate interest loan to replace the gear? I'm not sure that would work for everyone, but I was thinking about the ways to get things rolling, and that may be one way. Dunno...anyone with expertise in that area? Jan, if it will help, you are more than welcome to send the info over to me as you'll be leaving the country. I'll coordinate whatever needs to be handled, and make sure things get taken care of. It'll stay confidential with me, as well. SHould you choose not to, that's also all right. Thanks for your work. It is appreciated. Hi, all. As you know, Elsinore is hurting right now. Let's spread the love....here's a paypal account to make cash donations. PayPal The account is called "elsinoreappeal@hotmail.com". Instrustions are: To register for an account, have your personal details and your email address handy. Then click on the 'Sign up for your FREE paypal account' button (or use this link: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_registration-run). Fill in all the required fields (anything that doesnt have 'optional' next to it), and make sure you have a valid email address. Then click next/register. PayPal will send you an email with a link in it - click that link to activate your account - you can then login and use it. To be of any use, you can then associate the account with a bank account (debit) and/or a credit card. When you do this, PP takes out a random small amount (

We are working on a paypal account right now, and it should be up and running. As to the specific ones for the instructors, maybe we can set one up under Ed's name? Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

OK, this is the time we show the family spirit. Pay it forward, if you will. Riggerrob, you had a great suggestion. Can someone put a list together of nonoperating(snowbound) DZ's w/ equipment we could borrow for a bit? Anyone have a second rig, like Nightjumps, that you're willing to lend to instructors for a while? I am going to be grounded for a bit, so my entire rig can be loaned to whomever wants a skytruck. Anyone have spare altimeters? Have three (two audibles, and a wrist?) Can you loan the altis for a bit? Same with old helmets. Same with old jumpsuits. Who has a paypal account that can be used to accept cash donations for Elsinore? Let's look at doing an impromtu fundraiser for the instructors....how about a boogie of some kind the weekend after next? I'll coordinate/handle that. Anyone have spare time, I am sure getting to the DZ and helping clean up would be good. I can't go today, but I may be able to go on wednesday. Time for realizing what family means.... Ed, I can't help with a job, but as always, I am here for you and Lew however I can. Do not hesitate to reach out. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Nope, never saw the Caine Mutiny (sorry...) As for the sources, some of them are credible, some not, some questionable according to the politics you (anyone) holds. I was trying to give information on KLA, OBLs connection to them, and Clark's association with the KLA. SOmetimes using "peripheral vision" on puzzles allows one to see things which are not apparent on a straightforward basis (think "latent fingerprints")... As to the Waco incident, there seems to be some facts therein. No, perhaps that wasn't the best choice of sites, but whatever. There are others to choose from - I'm just lazy tonight. (I'm sick, and I have medicine head too.) (Besides, there are some here who believe in the duplicity of Bush and CIA and all that in 9/11...oh well....) However, there are plenty of sources which discuss credibly Clark's "early retirement" from the Kosovo theatre. The Pristina situation was pretty scary, when you look at it in whole, and thankfully the British didn't allow Clark to deploy on the Russian troops. That was the final straw, from what I can tell, on a career that was out of control, egomaniacal, and somewhat dangerous. Lou Dobbs alledgedly banned Clark from CNN because Clark was always pushing a political agenda, rather than just analyzing the news. Dunno if that's true, but if so, it's fairly interesting. As for using a source from Bush's alma mater, does that mean anything critical of anyone should not be assessed for the information contained therein? It was something I stumbled on, read, and thought - "well, I don't have to do all the research - here it is!"...and included it so people could see the disparity between things he said on Monday, and things he said on Tuesday. Take it for what you will, there is enough credence to the stories about his abrupt retirement, involvement in the tanks aspect of Waco, and his friendship with the KLA that gives me pause for thought...and I stand by my original position that he is not fit to be President. Poor Tuna. I really feel for you. Oh well....here's the deal. You've gotten honest responses, and you've been talked to by some who I'd listen carefully to if I were you. So I'll not add my .02. As for cheating, I have had two serious, long term relationships. Both have cheated on me, both did not break up prior to it, both of them I discovered, and both would have continued it had I not confronted them - and then left. Both have scarred me. Both have created serious issues with trust - intimate, deep, real trust - and both have contributed to a significantly low self esteem. The effects are lasting - not because I want them to, but because that what happens. I have given up on relationships. I have dreams that someday I will find the man who thinks I'm worth being with, someone who finds value in me, loves me more than all others, and who chooses to be with me. But they are just that - dreams. I've worked through the majority of issues that were created by the cheating, when I can. On those issues that I can't, I just sit with the scars. I have come to the conclusion that I do not know how to choose a good man, so I stopped choosing...and simply dream...and wish. I haven't had a date in months, and to have a real, deep, intimate relationship (not just sexual, but spiritual and emotional) seems out of the plan for me. Sigh.. Depressing topic. I think I would rather have it out with someone in the political threads. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Ha, helldog! Well, I have video from #82, linked here(it's called Chuteless). It's the jump I made for Bill Cole last saturday...some of it is missing - there was a glitch in something or other...but you can see a bit of the fall rate issue when JC (on vid) catches up to James and me and comes into the formation (at about, oh, 7500), Steve joins us and Karen goes bouncing off my leg. When everyone leaves, you can see my fall rate compared to JC on his belly. According to James, we were sitting pretty at 135....and that was the slow part of the jump... The comment came from the jump before, when we lost it on exit, and, as usual for me, I went belly really fast (I'm chubby, and have one of those natural arches...but it's mostly chubby...). No-one caught me, even though I was doing my damnedest to get flat and stay stable. No, I was backsliding around, looking for someone...James gets very near me, but not close enough...Karen was nowhere to be found, and Steve was as small as he could get and got sorta close... Yeah, me needs tunnel time.... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Heya, Quade...you do know Clark was involved with the Waco stuff, right?? Here's an article about Clark here detailing his work at the Branch Davidian complex. As to his credibility issues, there was that whole Pristina thing - which was, according to some, the "last straw" for his career. A very brief overview of the Pristina issue can be found here. Some cricles call it insubordination, others call it power hungry. Come call it aggression with a country that has nuclear weapons, a very unstable government, and a terrible economy - and I don't mean N. Korea. A few of Wesley's contradictions in public fora, voiced in the Yale Daily...interesting comparison...here. Can't he remember what he said? Additionally, there seems to be a significant friendship between Clark and Hashim Thaki, the commander of the KLA. (KLA=Kosovo Liberation Army...KLA’s ties to Osama bin Laden are well-known and reported, link, link, and here,too.. There's more, but....). He is also friends with indicted war criminal Agim Ceku (info here, and here). If you are judging others by the friends they keep, please don't forget to judge all by those standards... Besides being the buddy of, brian child of, and fully supported by the Clintons, his nicknames are "Supreme Being", "Perfumed Prince", and "Queeg" (dunno what that last one is...) tend to say a lot. Anyway, I don't like Clark, and don't consider him capable of holding the office of the President of the United States. While I do support Bush, there are things Bush has done which I completely disagree with. If there was a democratic candidate that was in line with my views, I might vote for him. Clark, imho, is not that person. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Sure, show me your information from Lexis. I don't have access to that...but below, please find several (!!) links about Russia, France, Chirac/q, Saddam, Salmon Pak, terrorism sheltering, et cetera. I've got lots more, but this should start you off... http://projects.sipri.se/armstrade/atirq_data.html Adobe acrobat chart...can be viewed when it was posted on a discussion board here...link Interesting article about ramifications and also how the Russian gov't was selling... "Jamming the Russian-American Relationship" And one from the Washington Post: 3 Russian Firms deals anger US And one more here (there were a whole bunch more, but I thought these would be good to start...) Moving on to France... "The Chirac Doctrine" an opinion piece about the relationship between France and Chiraq/c... Excepted from the article.... "Saddam showed his appreciation by approving a deal under which Iraq committed to granting French oil companies a number of privileges plus a 23 percent share of Iraqi oil. Chirac repaid the favor by approving the construction of Iraq's first nuclear-power center, Tammuz, near Baghdad. The project, which subsequently emerged as the core of Iraq's efforts to develop nuclear weapons, was destroyed in an Israeli air raid in September 1980." One from UPI here... And one from the ME Times here. Three there. Many more where they come from. Moving on... I hinted at 1976 for several reasons (one will be found in an above article), as well as that's when the funding began for the black ops which funded the Afghanistan Freedom fighters, later to be joined in the '80s by OBL. It was also the installation of President Carter, during who's administration the Iran Hostage crisis happened (reference article here), which assisted in our position (among many other issues...) for the Iran/Iraq war and our positioning during that time. However, as things tend to do, the situation changed....and then we faced Iraq's despotic leadership and terrorist tendencies in the following events.... The Achille Lauro mastermind (captured in Bahgdad Brief overview of Iraqi terror support here And another on Abu Abbas here Abu Nidal was found dead in Baghdad Interesting article via PBS and the NYTimes about Salman Pak here and another on Salman Pak And one with Khidhir Hamza Actually, there's a whole host of discussion - pro and con - here....PBS:Gunning For Saddam Some organizations with offices in Bahgdad outlined here excerpted: "Several expatriate terrorist groups continued to maintain offices in Baghdad, including the Arab Liberation Front, the inactive 15 May Organization, the Palestine Liberation Front (PLF), and the Abu Nidal organization (ANO). PLF leader Abu `Abbas appeared on state-controlled television in the fall to praise Iraq's leadership in rallying Arab opposition to Israeli violence against Palestinians. The ANO threatened to attack Austrian interests unless several million dollars in a frozen ANO account in a Vienna bank were turned over to the group. The Iraq-supported Iranian terrorist group, Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK), regularly claimed responsibility for armed incursions into Iran that targeted police and military outposts, as well as for mortar and bomb attacks on security organization headquarters in various Iranian cities. MEK publicists reported that in March group members killed an Iranian colonel having intelligence responsibilities. An MEK claim to have wounded a general was denied by the Iranian Government. The Iraqi regime deployed MEK forces against its domestic opponents." That's just a brief synopsis of several of the issues being dealt with. It is not inclusive, nor is it meant to be (for instance, I've left out the entire Kuwait invasion, any supposition with project Bojinka, any UN mandates, et cetera. Further, I did not discuss ideological premises with the various known terrorist groups that Iraq has/had sheltered for decades (ie the MEK, PLO, and so on.). This should suffice for the evening. Benny, I would tell ya, but the thing I see is that you're looking to fight..."grrrrr". I'm not looking to fight. If you honestly want to understand things, start about 1976...do your research, look things up. Not just what supports your (predetermined) position, but opposing views, contrary opinions to your own. You'll be surprised what you learn. If you are just spoiling for a fight, you'll not get that from me (and it looks like you are, simply from the poll choices and your responses here). (Psssssst...you might want to run a google search for "night vision apparatus and Russia...and maybe look into Chiraq and Hussein and see what that relationship is and how long it's been going on. That may give you some deeper understanding to the issues.) now back to work with me! Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

I didn't slam your options. I suggested that you forgot one very important one. And that, my friend, simply made my point....you designed a poll with a specific answer in mind, and your numbers will validate your personal opinion. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
-
(pssst...hey, Benny? That's a slanted poll. I mean, it slants to your own personal opinions. You've left out at least one very important reason...but since it goes against your own personal views, you didn't include it (prolly just forgot rather than it being intentional). That's why I am not answering the poll.... Just thought I'd let you know.) Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

I wanna go to the tunnel....I wanna, I wanna!!! I've got so many problems that I know I'll be bouncing off the walls while in a horrible flat spin! I wanna goooooooooooooooo and learn how to not do that!!! Although it does make for very funny videos....my favorite comment from jump number 81 was "let's chase Michele!!!".... I think I'd rather than be an option rather than part of the dive plan, however.... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

I am a realtor. I really enjoy that. If I could wave a magic wand, I'd get a college degree, and then go to law school. I think I'd be pretty good at law. Or I'd wave my other magic wand and write - prolifically, and sagely. Pity I haven't got any wands, magic or otherwise. For me it's primarily financial. Except, for the last 6 months, it's also been combined with significant health stuff. And, right this moment, I have a headcold...so no jumpie for me, even though I had planned on it this weekend. Oh well. Hi, Jeanne... EQ's in the PNW are not uncommon...and the mag is rather normal for the region. Here's a link (EQ's in the NW) that will show ongoing, current activity. The consideration would be if they cluster near/on one of the volcanos. But that doesn't look like it's happening... As for you, WrongWay, Ohio can get eq's. One of the largest faults in the US rolls through Ohio, and pretty much the entire center of the contiguous US. HAH! for you. They are infrequent, but they do happen there, as well. Here's a link....Ohio Seismicity. Actually, eq's can happen anywhere, but that's a whole 'nother post.... Ciels- Michele edited to add Ohio link. ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Depends on what the circumstances are. What's going on that you need to break the lease only 90 days early? Does your contract give you the right to break the lease for cause? Does the neighbor's dog continually leave presents on your front step? What's up? Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
